Can anyone tell me what material the head gasket in the NX-76 is made out of? I am reffering to part G70357-03.
I ask because I pulled the head off last night and noticed there wasn't any gasket. I've run about 3/4 gallon thru the truck and there were no apparent problems.
Thanks,
Joe

Thanks much. I bet that's it then. I did notice an aluminum piece there but I was think head gaskets like a car when you have some fiber type of material with maybe a metal ring, etc.

There should be one there, it's called a "Shim", there is one on every engine, if you run it without it, theres more compression cause it's closer to the piston, some people do it if they know how to properly tune.

Would having a cracked/broken exhaust gasket cause problems in the normal function of the car? I have a CEN Fun Factor Rally (4WD).
I stripped the car to clean it and put it back together, with a broken gasket, and when I ran it after reassembly - it was very sluggish.
Just curious since I realize that backpressure is kind of important in 2-stroke engines.

Well I had mud EVERYWHERE from a... shall we say "accidental".... roll over into some mud and stupid me wanted to remove it just so I could clean everything.
Well I tugged a little too hard when it wouldn't budge (it was stuck to the manifold) and it tore in half like toilet paper.
Sadly, no one in my area really carries CEN parts... But I have had great success with http://www.toyhaus.com - it's just that waiting that sucks ya know?

I also rplaced the gasket on my ff i thought the heat caused it to break and the noise that it made when i fired it up was unbeleivable. It was like a engine that had never been tuned

I specifically meant exhaust manifold. Since it was going to be a couple days before I get my parts, I took a bit of crazy glue and glued the gasket together then used a bit of hi-temp silicone RVT around the gasket and reinstalled it - seemed to work just fine! I should be ok for the time being.
Now I just have to figure why my electronics went insane tonight, sending my car into a flurry of donuts then straight into a wall. Interesting enough, there was no visible damage, but my diffs are locked. Oh dear.
