Well as some of you know and some of you dont...my brand new ATX blew the stock engine after only 1 gallon.
I ordered the replacement parts which will be here in a few days...but I was challenged by a hobby shop owner to race his nitro so he could make my CEN look bad...After many long hours of debate and deep thought...I have decided the world would be a better place if I built some power into my MT2 and taught this guy a lesson!
SO...
To aviod any more confusion with you guys...I have ordered ALL of the upgrade parts for the ATX and the proper pinions and spurrs to convert the ATX to an MT2...Proline Moab tires too
I also bought a new-era roll cage.
These parts should all arrive in a week or two....he he he
SO...now I need power.
You guys were recommending me the OS.18CV-RX engine. (BTW..what does OS mean???)

Not a bad looking engine...I can grab it for 100 bucks US and have it in a few days.
Does EVERYONE think this is a good engine.
I found this on NewEra web site...

A .28 OH BABY!
Can the stock CEN take this kind of power? I want to upgrade the engine but I dont want to start messing with parts breaking CONSTANTLY!!! Should I even mess with engines this size?
Let me know guys!
Will the .18 be fast enough? How much breakage can I expect with each engine?
Tnkx for the info guys...this site is wikkid!

Steer clear of any product from New Era. They have had problems with anything and the law too. the OS engine will be more than enough power, but it depends on what r/c the hobby shop guy is going to be driving. Make sure you have a good tuned pipe setup, because the OS .18 breathes like crazy!
But, on second thought: http://www.neweramodels.com/cgi-bin/...=&part_id=1816 Could bring a whole new option to you... any big block you can think of. (this is the ONLY new era part i'd get)
Engine: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLSU7&P=7
now u need exhaust setup! I believe you need a clutch too. While you are at it, get the factory upgrade from CEN racing. http://cenracing.com/cars/ff/factoryupgrade.html that includes the new era conversion kit. Let us know if and when you smoke the owner.

What's wrong with New Era? I have a couple of their products and they work great. As for the motor, stick with the OS .18 if you still have a stock drive train. I know Poor Judgement and a couple others have a .28 in their Funfactor and they can give you a list of needed upgrades to handle that much power in your MT2.

the os 18 is nearly too much power anyway, imo. the .28 is ridiculous - trust me mate, its a lot of hassle and breaks stock parts very easily.
i have the os.18cvr-x as well as an sh.28 in my funfactors. the .18 is brilliant, use the cen stock clutch and flywheel, just make sure u get the rotary carb version, the slide carb is a bit harder to set the linkage up for.
as for a pipe - i am running the os t-1030 alloy tuned pipe. no complaints there, and it gives a fair bit more poke than the stock cen plastic pipe. i run it on 25% nitro with an os #8 plug.
its by far the best engine u can fit to a funfactor. it will wear parts quicker than the stock motor, obviously, but it wont wreck them as soon as u punch the throttle, just be a little careful with the throttle control to lengthen parts lives.
is he just after ur $$$ tho?

Bootmachine... Myself and others have been running the os 18 for quite some time with little or no problems.. Any breakage I have has been a result of driver error more than engine strength... I will tell you, there is not much out there that will beat the mt2 with this conversion.. I have run against alot of trucks, all modified and the cen usually beats them... Stability is the real issue here... The truck doesn't handle well at 50+mph...
Like Poor judgement said... The engine has alot more snap.... I didn't change the pipe or the manifold, but I did port the engine a bit and opened the manifold to allow better breathing.... Will pull the wheelies now if I can get traction but the acceleration is wild... Takes off faster than my Kyosho buggy with the big block...

OK so it looks like I'm going to buy the .18 cvrx engine.
I have already bought just about every upgrade from CEN anyway...I will get the chassis upgrade when I finally bend mine like so many of you guys have!
Too bad about New-Era...I hope they dont screw me on my roll bar!
I think I may stand a chance against the challenger. He changed his tune when I mentioned my bone stock ATX...Plus I took a look at his truck and the quality of his work is very poor. I keep my ATX/MT2 in PERFECT condition.
I'm going to try and get some pics up for you guys. I should try and post some vids too ...

Don't worry about new era... I have purchased several things from them and everything has been great... I purchased the roll bar but don't used it anymore because of some mods I did, It gets in the way of the pullstart...
Always up for some pics of your truck.. don't really car about the other guys truck... Just remember, you can't win if your not on the course...

Good choice on the OS .18. The big blocks would be fun for bashing but you could never race with one.
I wouldn't worry about New Era either. I have never heard anything bad about their products or service.
I would recommend the Magnum's chassis before the JT chassis. It is bound to be cheaper and available.

If you don't mind me asking, what did New Era charge you for shipping to ON? I was going to buy the roll bar and the hinge pins and another thing or two and they told me that the shipping was 60 USD. I emailed them and they told me that was correct. seems a bit on the high side.

To be honest I dont even know what I paid for shipping. I was so excited I just went online and bought a butt load of parts. Now I'm sitting...waiting...for my mods to come.
If I got charged 60 bucks USD for shipping...I'm calling the company. 60 bucks is RETARDED!

Shipping to Ottawa Ontario Canada was 17.99 USD
20.00 bucks for the fast shipping!
Total for the roll cage was like 55 bucks USD!
