Default 3 speed

How is the 3rd speed located far as gearing is it higher than 2nd or lower than first. Thinking of putting the 3rd speed in my nemesis. Wonder why they took it out. What the positive of having the 3rd gear, or negative.

Adding third will definetly gear it higher giving more top end speed. The positive side would be you will go slightly faster approx. 2-5 mph more on the top end. The negative is that it may lose a bit on the take off, but not so noticable to you though, mainly in a clock. The reasoning in Cen removing it in the Nemesis is that it was designed with the racer in mind. Be that as it is 3rd gear would most likely never get used on any tracks. Too, 3rd gear would also increase the rotating mass in the tranny causing the truck to lose acceleration and precious seconds on the track, this is why most LST race trucks use a forward only conversion which eliminates the reverse and low gears. If bashing is what you plan on doing then it would be a good thing to have as there is no such thing as too much speed, and at about $20 it's worth it. Hope this helps ya. Let us know what you do and how it works out.

well I race the truck as well as yard bash. But I dont understand how adding a higher gear will take from the low end. Unless what your saying is that it will take more HP to start truck because of tranny having to turn more gears ( reverse gear and 3rd speed gear). Is this what your trying to say.

exactly. The more weight in the driveline, the more torque it takes to get it turning. It will also take more to get it to stop i guess.

That is exactly it, more rotating mass that the engine has to turn, but the extra gear will add more top end, but you won't likely hit 3rd on the track.

Would you lose touque?
What I'm trying to say is I love to do wheelies and I was thinking of putting a third gear in the Nemesis I'll get but if it takes away from wheelies I don't want it.

Thanks

No, the torque will still be there because of the original gearing in first, but the overall acceleration will be slightly deminished, but you seriously won't notice it unless you took and timed it through some traps without third and reverse, then again with it. If it is something you are wanting by all means get it, it's not going to hinder it that much as to spoil the fun factor of the truck, look at how many Genesis owners that are happy with there trucks, essentially it will have the same set up in the tranny as the LE's do now. So go ahead and let us know what you think about it afterwards.
