The Savage isn't too bad to take apart. When I first got mine I HATED it! Took me two days to change the diffs!! Its like everything though, is easy when you get used to it. I now know the Savvy inside out and it really is as tough as old boots. The other thing about them is that the UK distributor (Mirage) will normally get parts from warehouse to LHS in 24hrs or less!! Not many can say that.

The 24hr service was advertised in all the magazines as a promise last Christmas!! I'd pick a rolloing chassis up 2nd hand if I were you. They normally go for £90 or so and you already have the engine to put in it. If you need any other parts, there are literally hundreds of options from virtually every aftermarket manufacturer and spares stocked by every LHS and even Halfords!

I hear you mate, but it would be nice to have everything brand new, and by the time Ive got all the missing parts and worn out 2nd hand bits... its only a bit more to save the hassle and postage on all the extras.

Dammit - will someone remove me from this sensible state of mind that Ive found myself in, it doesnt feel at all natural. Must be my age. Cheers.

Its not dead yet.

Supposed to be going out this weekend with some mates and their savages and a mammoth somethingorother... mammoth needs running in, so hopefully, itll be a fairly sensible session and Ill finally finish running this engine in and start looking for second gear.

Dont hold yer breath, but ill try for vids, even if its off my fangly new phone... hate em... but Ill try. Meanwhile I thought it only fitting to spam some pics of it fully charged up and ready to go. Big tyres are on, cos its bound to get messy with the lads, running in or not. Fingers crossed for my transmission!

Just got in from a little session.

4 Savages and a Mammoth for company. Wiped the floor with the Savages, performance wise, even while I was trying to sort the mixture, nevermind once it was somewhere near! But jesus, does that Mammoth go, stop and corner! Still, I had it licked til my brake linkage fell off! Ooops. I still cant find second gear, but Im not too worried. Run in is about done, its just a little finicky about the tuning at the mo, could really do with a beach session to sort that out. Its a little sluggish from the off, I think the low speed needs leaning a touch, but the top end wont take it yet if I do. That or Im a mile out on my tuning... Ive nearly convinced all the lads that a beach session wont hurt their trucks, but in the meantime, we are off to a quarry tomorrow... those of you making offers for my chassis might want to hold on a bit...

No. No vids... I spent most of my time getting mine tuned and finding the damn brake linkage. Once I was sorted, all but one of the Savages was broken, and the Mammoth had gone skyward and didnt come down for ten minutes or so. Got some pics of our "Team Idiot" cars tho. Cant believe how well "Stunt Steve" or "Suicide Steve" coped with it all! Will get more tomorrow now mines running a lot better.

Just had a look at it while the pics up loaded, lots of wear on the 2nd gear pinion, looks like its engaging 2nd straight away, and why its a little sluggish on take off. Ill have a poke around in there.

Finished (i think) running it in, Got it using 1st gear too. Goes like buggery, or it would if it would grip and stay the right way up... Snapped both my rear driveshafts within 2 tanks. This motor is a different beast to the old 28. Its not in anyway sensible to drive. Ive had it. The 18 can go back in this, Im off to look for a cheap rolling buggy/truggy chassis.

As a bonus though, all trucks were dead by the end of the session.

Its good to see you are enthusiastic about the 'little' cars again mate. Went to my first electric race meeting today, the track is half an hour from my front door and I ran into an old mate there who I didn't even know raced r/c!! Got myself an AE RC10B4 buggy for racing and can't wait to start.
As for your new buggy/truggy, why not cobble together a rolling chassis out of spare parts and get yourself a Matrix on the swap programme from CEN? Either that or just get something off ebay!!

Ebay is looking favourite. Maybe a buggy for the beach with a truggy kit for messing with the lads? Bung the 30 in there and I reckon Im sorted. My Cen can have the 18 back, maybe sell it, see how it goes.
