Man is this thing HUGE, I had no idea!!!!!!!
The neighbor stopped by to see it, said "Yeah that's about the size of my LST......... LMAO.............can't wait till we get them side-by-side
He's in for an awakening for sure!!!!!!
This baby makes my WarHead ( yes broken down [:@] ) look like a matchbox car!!!
Anyway the OUCH in the subject was because of my "Pull start blisters" lol, makes it a bit tough to type as well. I managed to get it started for a bit ( 1/2 tank anyway ) but i had to give up for the evening........ Wife had other plans for me ( not always a bad thing
)
First observation is this thing is BUILT!!!! Everything about it is big, beefy turnbuclkes, scary motor size, HUGE tires...... all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!
It's really killing me to get it out and dirty, but i think i will strip it down, complete the mods i want applied, and put it all back together solid. I don't want to get myself all cranked up, and NOT do the mods i want. Also, dont want to have to do all the "setup" twice. Ordering the one piece gears, the parts for the steel front driveshaft today. While i'm waiting for them, i will be doing TRD's dual steering servo mod (thanks for the info TRD you're THE MAN!!!!!!!).

Once the engine is fully broken in, you should invest in the roto-start system. You can by the back plate or the whole system. I switched all my pull start trucks to roto start, I got sick and tired of blisters. Enjoy your new beast.

The part number for the roto start back plate is G70359, the cost is 17.99 and you can buy it at www.customrccars.com Not sure if the roto start starter for the warhead head will work. The CEN roto start takes a shaft that looks like a dogbone at the end, so if your warhead has this type of shaft it may work.

I've seen just the backplate available, I don't remember where or what the part#'s were but I know I've seen just the backplate itself. I don't see why your existing roto starter wouldn't work, it would be stupid if it didn't..
Don't switch to the roto though until after it's broken in and easier to start, I've heard of people overheating the roto start motor and it burning up because it's such a tight motor. I just use gloves, even on break in I don't have a single blister and my hands aren't messed up at all.

everyone says to put the roto starter on...i really don't see the need, after a few tanks the truck starts fine, i even have a bad arm and i'm not having a problem...now. but the plastic drive shaft sucks...that's next on my to do list...

Actually Clermont, I'm trying to decide which way to go, Rotostart or starter box. rotostart=oneway replacements less to haul to the track and pit starts. starter box=no oneway work and more to haul, better reliability in the pit. But if I go starter box then yes SH back plate. What do you think since you have had an Arena longer..

Well I took the GST out for a spin today. I ran it into a bush going about 25. I broke the front steering arm off of its little ball so the front tires looked like this. \ ---- /. But it was an easy fix and all I had to do was snap in back into the little ball. But then my engine shut off, I probably overloaded the engine, a bit rich. any how i tried to start it back up but my glow plug wasnt lighting. Either A its dead, or B my starter is dead. But the glow plug looks kinda blackish, but the coil looks good. Im not sure, Im gona charge the starter but I will be ordering a few new things such as glow plugs and Reciever pack and fuel filter.

With the glow plug out, if you look down into the cylinder, what color is the top of the piston? It should be a whitish to yellowish color, if it's a darker yellow or dark in anyway that's an indication the truck is running too lean, same goes for the plug, it shouldn't be black. Also sometimes glow plugs will be fouled and still light when you put them on your igniter, I'd try a new plug just to be sure.
Yeah one of those damn cement trash cans jumped out in front of my truck at 40mph the other day, scuffed up my front bumper a little..

I tried a different plug and it lighted up, so the plug must have been dead. I had my dad help me tune my truck and he said it was running fine. But I will check the top of the piston to look at the fuel. But I think the reason that the glow plug was black due to me taking it out and emptying the fuel out of the engine. The excess gas might of stayed around the glow plug and just burnt up on it making it black.
Edit: I took pics but my pc wants me to format the stupid thing, so Ill just do it later on my other PC. But I really dont think that my truck is running lean, its almost all the way out, its almost flush with about a 1 or 2 mm gap with the copper ring around it.

It could be the type of fuel you run, if you have scented or colored fuel.. I've heard nothing but bad things about that stuff, it gums up fuel lines and leaves stuff in the motor, etc.. If not then your plug should probably not be black for any reason that I can think of.
I'm running TRD's Ofna primer valve mod and it changes my tune a little from the factory, but right now I have my HSN at flush and my LSN about 1/2 turn (6 hours) out from flush. It runs consistent 225-240F. I run my tanks empty each run, and it doesn't lean out long enough when it dies to cause the plug to foul or the motor to get hotter then 240F.
I don't remember do you have a temp gauge? If not I would highly recommend one..

Im running Traxxas Top Fuel 30%, I did take pics but my PC's are being dumb so I try my sisters camera when she gets home later. And no I dont have a temp gun yet, thats next on my list... Whenever I get money for it lol

I ran Werks Racing 30% for a while, it's got a lot of oil in it kinda leaves oil in the motor more then Byron's does but it runs strong and cool. Currently I'm running Byron's 30% though, I like it better and it seems to run a little cooler yet faster.. I've heard nothing but bad things about Traxxas trucks in general so I would think the same would relate to their fuels, dunno but I'm sticking to Byron's.
