I took out the pull-start because it was stuck and my finger slipped and the spring shot out. Is there a special tool to get it back in or is it impossible?
Also, starting the Engine is weird. I have to let it idle for 5 minutes before it won't stall when I give it gas. It goes through half a tank. After running it, it won't start unless I give it half throttle for a few pulls, then start it from idle. Its driving me nuts.
The receiver battery holder bent so the one of the AA batteries doesn't touch the contact. I can fix it with a tie, but is this normal?
Thanks.

I've put the springs back in pullstarts before. It can be very hard sometimes since the spring loves to pop out as soon as your almost done. If you do try, don't be like me and use safty glasses, cut my cheek when I was a kid. It's been a long time so it's fuzzy in my mind on what I did exactly. If you can get the spring back inside the case you might need something thin and strong to hold up to the open side to keep the spring in. I remember doing it without useing anything but my fingers and needle nose pliers to hook the spring in. I'm not sure how much they have changed in the past 10 years, but it can't be to much different. To get the center piece to slide into place, you'll have to pull the cord lightly to get it to line up. From there it's just luck.
I've even done this with broken springs, close to the end. This is only a quick fix and it could fail on the first pull, or after a few tanks. It's really just to hold you over untill you can get a new one.
Your tune might be out, or the plug is going for your idle/startup problem.
I would get a new battery holder if you don't have a failsafe before your next run. Sometimes your LHS might have a worker with a extra one they will give you if they are nice enough, most upgrade to hump packs making the OEM worthless.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Its pretty easy to repair and rewind the springs in pullstarts once you get the knack,I can repair a pullstart from most engines in around 5-8 minutes and is just a matter of "the knack".I'll post a link to a guide on how to do this and all thats involved is some patience, long nosed pliers, the rudimentry screwdrivers,2 zip ties and WD40.I was a novice at this and after a few its second nature,i've repaired Hyper 7 pullstarts,CEN Genesis,CEN MG16's,HB Lightnings and others, all with success and some even had snapped springs were they attach to the bobbin by reshaping the spring end with pliers to the original shape.... You may want to get rid of the pull start all together. If you are running the NX-26 engine I have an extra NX-26 ROTO BACKPLATE and roto starter I would sell cheap. I know what a pain those pull starts can be. I went through the same problems with pull starts.
ALSO, if you are messing with alkaline batteries you are not getting the most out of your Matrix and you are risking a runaway. Grab a 5 cell receiver pack and you will be so happy you did! It will allow the servos to operate quicker as the receiver packs have more voltage and last much longer...
If you are interested pm me.
Good luck

Thanks to Mr. Terminator. I followed the directions in the link and they worked the first time. I promised the Fiance I wouldn't spend on RC until I got a new job so you got me running and saved the day. Thanks again.
