Default ?'s about the Aurora 60/90.

Reading up on this airplane, it seems the 90 is the same airplane as the 60 with a simple adjustment to the firewall to compensate for the 90. Is this correct?

Also, I have templates and a set of plans for the Aurora 60. As expected, all dimensions are metric. What is the general rule here for American wood conversions? Do I round up or down from the metric? Any advice on the belly pan and canopy?

I have a UFO to finish and fly for a while before I start work on this project. I would agree with Atlanta 60 in his posts regarding opinion on this airplane. I like it too.

After the completion of the UFO I will be saving up on equipment and parts for a year or two since my budget is limited. I'd like to power it with a new YS 115 when I can.

Did anyone have much luck with the flaps designed into the wing? Is it a worthwhile addition? How about the variable pitch props?

Any info and pictures for motivation/inspiration the next few years would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Brian,

Belly pan and canopy are available.

Plans and converted templates also.

Even a laser cut short kit.

The Aurora did not have Flaps, its predecessor the Cosmo did.
You could build it with the Flaps, many varied opinions on that.
Flaps and spoilers do enhance the characteristics of the plane, but I’m thinking with your proposed power plant YS115 are probably not needed.

Paul,

Thanks for the reply. Where are these items located?

Here is a pdf of my Aurora plans. I believe it shows flaps and discussion of a vaiable pitch prop. Any thoughts?

It seems you have a set of plans from an earlier version, the plans I have do not show this.
I actually prefer a spoiler over a flap. This configuration looks interesting. I will have to study this plan.
See, we are always learning something new.

Mk made the variable pitch prop, no longer available. Even when they were in production they were hard to get.
They were intended for the 2 strokes.

This prop setup, flaps, spoilers were all to slow the plane down to execute certain maneuvers better.
