I forgot the guy's name but I think he also made transmitter sticks...perhaps for the S&O radios that were so desireable back then.
I had the Cuda kit but never built it because I was not happy with the wing....it was covered with glass cloth....no wood.
It hung around for probably 15 years then dissappeared. I dont remember what I did with it....but I do remember that the fuse was pretty good quality.

The molds of he Super Cuda are finished now. A Hi-Lo kit is on its way to me for molds to be made now. It should be here Monday. I prepared the Exception to mold bu the cold weather and rain has delayed it. I'm painting my Dirty Bridi 40 that I built years ago but never finished it. I'm putting an OS 45 FSR ABC engine in it and a mac pipe on it. I also have some of those old Craft wheels for it. It should be fun to fly. Here are a couple of pictures of the Hi-Lo. If any of you have more Hi-Lo pictures please post them.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Exception after much work prepairing it as a plug to mold. Chris, how do you like it now?

Don, I have a Skymaster that would be an excellent choice to copy. I will have to search for photos. Atlanta 60 has the fuse in his shop for the slight repairs it needs. Now that there is way to replicate these so easy the repairs don't have to be done done with airworthyness in mind.

Yes I believe that we talked about the SkyMaster a long time ago. I was wanting to do it. I thought it had nice lines to it. Chuck was also talking about the LA-2 and or the LA-1 I can't remember which over a year ago, that he had. Do you know what happened to those? David, if you feel like getting the Skymaster done just send it on over. If chuck doesn't have time to do the repairs I will. Do you have a plan for the wings stab and rudder, etc.?
Thanks

the Skymaster is one of my favorite designs.
Kato (the designer) got all the angles right IMO. It's however a bit of a convoluted plane to mold as it has both a chin cowl as well as a fuse top pipe tunnel. Probably no harder than doing an Atlanta though. However, the wood MK fuse has a wing center section which is only partial making the front third part of the wing hug the sides of the fuse as if it were a plug-in wing. In short, it seems to me that for a glass version, it would be ideal to mold with a closed fuse bottom and plug-in wings. The top deck would still be removable per design and the chin cowl would also be needed to install and access the engine but access to the radio gear would be from above by removing the ply pipe floor (fuse box top). An alternative would be to mold the fuse and top deck all as one piece and produce a full length belly pan that would run from the spinner to the wing TE (much like the Aurora). A ply floor on the inside would still separate the pipe from the interior radio gear (it would be good to cut this floor to template) but now instead of a three part fuse (fuse, deck and chin) as in the MK version, it would be a two part (fuse and pan) mold with a wood wing stub pan that transitions to the glass pan (again, like in the Aurora).
Unfortunately I don't have a full size quality scan of the plan (I don't own a kit) but I have this snap of them which should give you an idea of how it's put together. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.
David
P.S. Thanks for the DB photos and reply.

The Dirty Birdy looks great, Don.
Glad to see the Kaos has it's engine in it, servos in there too?

Anybody have any pictures and or instructions for Pro-Line Retracts that were used in the 70's? Not sure if Dave Brown's are the same size or not. Also looking for a Dave Brown Nose Gear or complete set of Dave Brown tricycle gear.
Thanks

Guys,
I just aquired a glass Banshee fuse and bellypan. The fuse is orange in color and untouched except for the cutout for the engine which is factory cut. Does anybody know what company molded this fuse? Also, one thing very different on this fuse is the stab airfoli, instead of the familiar "Diamond" airfoil, the stab airfoil on this fuse is symmetrical. I've been told that the stab shape and size is identical to the diamond configuration stab. Anybody have any info? I'll post some pics later tonight.
The bigger question is, being the fuse is virgin, would anybody be interested to have a mold made by frequent flyer? Lets hear from you guys!

I have a glass Banshee fuse that has the diamond stab. It is not virgin in any shape or form though. The glass is in good shape the, rest of the plane is rough. I am guessing mine was made my Airborne since it looks to be finished in a white gelcoat under the paint. Mine also has the hugely long, super heavy duty torque rods that someone said were made by Rom-air??

Well a little update. I'm finishing up the molds for the HI-LO . I received the MISS BEETLE and the SATURN. I also received the chin cowl for the Aurora 45. I'm getting ready to do the EXCEPTION next. We finally have some warmer weather and as long as it stays warm I should be getting all three of these mold done in the next couple of weeks.
Still hoping to get the SKYMASTER

Don, I just purchase the HB Magic pattern kit from Will Bartlett (Flywilly). He asked that I bring it by for you to review the plans and possibly make additional copies to keep these classics going. When it arrives, I contact you for your address.(I live in Los Angeles - Wilshire & Highland)

RE: Making Molds of Classic Pattern Plane Fuselages & Parts to Keep them Alive for all of us to Enjoy!
Just finished the molds for the HI LO and on to the EXCEPTION tomorrow. Boy I am going through the gallons of resin and rolls of fiberglass cloth. It cost a bundle making all these molds! Need to sell a lot of kits to keep this going. It sure would help. So far the last two years of bringing back the Classics has been a non profit venture. Although dozens and dozens of kits have sold all the funds have gone right back into KEEPING THE CLASSICS ALIVE! It sure is a lot of fun and thanks to all of those that have sent in their kits so I could reproduce them. It is great to be able once again have available all these plane that I watched as a teenager but could never afford for myself.
