And that's not all the planes there, either. I personally flew some P-3 Orions into mothballs there... it just goes to give you the scope of what they have down there.

We had a tour when we brought in our old birds and the only word we could conjur up was "Amazing".

Use Google Maps you can find DM just off I-10 in south Tucson. Still lots to see there.
You can spend a couple hours easy just looking around at the old aircraft they have there.

Good stuff Crank. When I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca, I use to drive around the fence
line of DM from time to time whenever I went to Hobby Barn/Tucson. It was always a good
drive checking the old birds.

That vertical looks 100% Desire to me. Plus, it is a plug-in wing design which appears to have no belly pan (except maybe a chin cowl) and a removable canopy to access the interior. What doesn't jive is the nose. I don't think the Desire looks liked that. There's also the fact that I'm not sure a mold of the desire was ever made commercially, only the top deck was made in glass and it didn't quite look like that. It seems to be of that era though - early to mid 80's. Desire, Summit, LA-1, Eclipse, etc.

Crank, I have the wings (need to be sheeted), some wood that came with it but no paperwork.
Will need to make a rudder and figure out the rest unless I can find something.

Patternflyer76 - I agree, it does look like it.
The nose a bit difficult to be 100% certain but so far this is the best bet.
I did some digging and found a thread on it with a beautiful pic.

I believe that it is an SL-1. I have attached a few photos of the one I built about 6 years ago. You need to build it. I had a YS 120 in it and it was (still feel that it is) the best flying pattern plane I ever had. If you look at the photos of mine you can just make out the fillets for the stab (like your fuse) and if you check the chin cowl they look very much the same. Incidentally, I installed incidence adjusters in both the wing and stab.

Wonderful plane. I wish someone was offering them as I would build another in a heartbeat.

Never has a SL1 but it's very similar George Asteris's Omen. Clue to me is the hatch location for the rudder/elevator servos.
The more I look at the nose and canopy detail, it looks like an Omen to me.

My SL-1 had the same hatch on the bottom of the fuse. I used this access hatch to install one of the MK bellcranks that allowed me to drive both elevator halves with single servo. This bellcrank allowed me to install the elev. servo forward in the fuse near the wing TE. I also collocated the rudder servo next to the elevator servo. I opted not to install the servos in the rear of the fuse for balance reasons. I really believe it is an SL-1.

Other clues for me are the shape of the wing filets, the canopy detail of the frame molded in like a fighter canopy, and the location of the end of the chin cowl taped up behind the wing. You may be right, but it sure looks like an Omen to me.

I never had an Omen but everything about the fuse (the wing and stab fillets as well as the canopy and cowling are the same as my SL-1). As I mentioned before, I wish I knew of someone that was offering the model. Perhaps someone on the classic pattern forum might know of a company kitting it. I still have the YS 120 I had in that plane. My SL-1 met its demise when I was performing a two point roll (at veeeery low altitude) and while "showing off" to local non-pattern types I pulled up elev when inverted. There was nothing left of the fuse but the motor and some servos survived. I still have the remnants of the wings and stabs.

I should have some more pics of the fuse to put up tomorrow and we will see if we can agree on what it is.
There seems to be a number of variations to whatever it is and they have very similar features hence the difficulty.
