Classic Pattern ARFS
#76
The Airborne Models A-6 Intruder you mentioned has been a kind-of "go-to" full-size plane for the many newcomers we've seen this summer.

Unfortunately its discontinued. Maybe SPA should lobby World Models to crank up another run, or some other ARF maker to build a true classic pattern. Unfortunately overweight, undersized, and oversized versions don't count.

I have "the last" A6 Intruder sold by the importers. It was a model that was returned due to damage. It is still in the box, unopened.
I'm thinking about buying an Intruder from Carolina Models. That's a good price for the kit with the fiberglass fuselage and foam wing cores. All I'd need after that is a good set of retracts. Makes me wish I had kept the MK retracts that I bought from George Asteris a while back. Oh well. I'll probably opt for a set of Spring-Air retracts. I like pneumatic because it isolates the gear's mechanical load from the flight battery. Yep, I'm old fashioned.

Well, as a member of the Classic Building Defensive Moron Society, I would like to give a shameless plug for Raineday's building thread of his UFO.; just looking at the plane taking shape makes you forget about arfs.

All right. I'll stop twisting your arm to make you keep reading a thread you do not like. There. Better? <G>
Pssst! By the way, no one actually closes threads...

Does this qualify as a classic pattern ARF?
http://www.lanierrc.com/lrcprivate/r.../Dart40ARF.htm
Says it it s .40 size but it has the same dimension's as the older .60 ARF.

That would be good. I asked Ed if I could buy his last World Models kit, but he wouldn't even reply. Afraid I would talk him out of it I guess. Though I hadn't actually made up my mind. I am almost at the point to cover the Kaos. Need to attach the tail feathers and do some puddy in some gaps between the wing and fuse, as well as between the wing and belly pan. Some final carving around the nose and I will be ready to cover. Though sometimes I take the most time deciding. The next decision is Ultra Cote, or paint, or maybe a combination?
