And yes, it does look like another one from this thread.. To whoever has the other one earlier on in this thread, thanks for the color scheme idea! I searched around at different Kaos images, and settled on that one, being I had the colors on hand, and it looked good.

Hi all, I am purchasing a kaos 90 kit from the eureka airplane company all my planes are tail draggers due to grass runways and was looking for any ideas or thoughts for engine sizing I want it to be a real screamer 4s versus 2 stroke etc,
Thanks,

I only was able to get two take off's and immediate landings, since the header pipe coupler kept popping off right after take off.. but it took off pretty straight right off the board, I think 2 clicks of aileron was all needed. I will hunt down some more header pipe coupler material, and try again later this week.
nice work. With that empennage design and Prettner like wing tips it looks like a BlueJay Utter Kaos. I assume the 11x11 is to keep the rpm and noise down for the club? If not, you could lighten the prop up to an 11x8 or 11x9 as that engine and pipe combo should really shine on them.
Also, forget the Macs type of grey silicon couplers - they become too slippery and soft once hot and wet with fuel and never stay on. Look for the transparent thick wall couplers with stranded fibers in them. Those will grab on much better.
Cheers, David

Not a bad idea to put a gas engine in a big Kaos.
I'm not sure how good they are but the Evolution 20 cc GX gas engine with its beam mount and front carb might be a better design for a classic. It might even allow for an inverted in-cowl muffler installation. Since it is based on the glow 1.2NX, the same side muffler should be able to be used if the engine is mounted upright.
Another interesting option is OS's new glow ignition gasoline 15 cc engine. Yes, no ignition module required and starts up like any other glow engine except it burns gas. This is the second type of engine like this I've come across - clever! I'm not sure if it will have the power needed for a K90 but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just great.

So what engine would you all recommend for the kaos 90?
primarily seeking to have high speed entry into pattern maneuvers , the Saito 125 is not a bad thought but I do miss the scream of the 2cyle,was also looking at the Rossi 90

If you decide to go with a 2 stroke, I second the current production NovaRossi 91's. There are two to choose from with the CR line being newer although I believe they are both pretty much the same in performance. The standard R91F has no remote needle valve (although the CR can be adapted to use this carb with no remote needle) and is a fair bit less expensive.
Nice engines and lighter than their 61's!

Hello Dave,
I just now came across your 1/2A Sun Fli and I think it looks cool. I would love to build one myself. Is it still possible to get a copy of your plans?

Just happened to notice the Kaos Sticky, and thought you folks might enjoy seeing a Kaos I built in the early 80s. It had an 82" wingspan, weighed about 12 lbs., and flew with a piped 90. What a great flying airplane but a bit heavy. Sorry the photos are so bad but they are old.
I did build two UFOs later, one a 45 size and the second a slightly oversize 60 size.
I missed the big Kaos, and in 2007 built a similar plane that is used for my avatar.
Soon will scratch build a 2 meter Kaos with a slightly thinner wing and powered by a 1.40 ST.

Ron,
Sorry for the delay in answering. My second 'Kaos' had 1250 sq. in.
Just starting a new scratch build thread on a two-meter Kaos. Been busy drawing up my plans. It is going to be modified with a few updates from the Kaos 90 plan from Outerzone. Everyone welcome to join in.

Greeting everyone. I'm making a comeback to RC after various previous attempts... hopefully this time for good. Does anyone know if everything is okay with Bluejay Kits? Have tried to contact Lynn Latta every which way but via direct call (e-mail, text) but no answer. The site shows many kits as out of stock including the one I want... the Killer Chaos. Its been like that for quite a while...
