Chris,
Just got the plans.... they look great.... looks like Ill be doing a foam wing when I get to it.... same type thing I did for 8178's Blue Angel... but.. it will be a while... there are 4 major projects ahead.. but.. I'm going to get to it eventually.... as well as an Aurora...
Thanks for your effort in getting the plans done.... I'm sure the other guys will pony up......

Are there any kits, cowls, canopies available for the Aurora 45 or Aurora
45s?
What would be the price to ship to Canada?

Thanks, Dave ... the Singapore Dollar exchange still doesn't make it a very enticing offer. Does RCU want to collect a fund for it?
Just opened up my Aurora 45 plans. Wow. My hat .... or tuque eh! to 8178 for being able to make the Blue Angel based on plans like this. How's anyone determining the tip airfoil profile?

Jim,
There a couple of ways to "derive" the tip airfoil. For me, the easiest way is to first copy the root rib airfoil shape. You must be careful to make certain exactly what is shown on the plans. IT USUALLY is the airfoil AT THE WING/SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE. If this is the case you then have to measure the distance from LE to TE AT THE WING ROOT and the distance for LE TO TE AT THE WING TIP. Then you bring up your original scan from the side view/fuselage in the TILEPRINT software program. TILEPRINT allows you to scale up/down anything just by drawing a line and giving it a KNOWN DISTANCE. You print out the first one given the root distance and the second one given the tip distance. Instantly you have the root and tip templates. Same procedure is used for the stab.
Tile print supports the follwing formats: Bitmaps (*.bmp;*.dib), GIF Images (*.gif), JPEG Images (*.jpg;*.jpeg), Metafiles (*.wmf;*.emf) and Icons(*.ico;*.cur). Tileprint was written by a fellow RCU member who usually is in the 1/2A forum areas... Great guy.. this software has saved me HOURS and really makes it easy to make wing templates/ and ribs
You can download it from at http://donatelli.net/downloads/ tileprint .zip
Hope this helps. Good luck with your project... I've got to order the Canopy.....

Before you order a canopy, maybe we should see if there is interest in getting a group buy together to minimize the shipping costs. I am in for one if you are interested in doing this. I will also take delivery of the batch of canopies and ship them on to individuals if no one else wants to do it.

Dan is this the same technique you used on 8178's Blue Angel. I already have tileprint, profili2 and Compufoil3D. But with the technique you're describing won't you get the same percentage airfoil thickness for both the root and tip airfoils? Too bad most kit plans don't give you the root and tip profiles.

Thanks 8178, that's what is missing from the Aurora 45 plans. No root or tip airfoils?
Dan, if you have the plans of the Aurora 45, is the airfoil profile similar to the Blue Angel?

If all you have is the airfoil at the fuse side and you enlarge it to the root chord, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to make the tip airfoil about 2% thicker, or so. That's what I would do anyway. Was the BA airfoil a constant thickness?

Chris,
I got the plans a couple of days ago and they look great but
there's one little problem. One of the postal worker decided
he must do the old weapon in the mailing tube test and did a
double bent to the tube. I should have asked for folded plans.
Thanks,
Ron

Isn't that something ???? My tube arrived after being run over by a forklift !!!! Krinkled the plans but nothing I couldn't iron out... but.. for the prices they are charging, they should do better.... ok.. rant over..
Dan
Jim, I'm going to check the Aurora 45 plans this afternoon and see what the templates would look like.

Hey..Do you still have a set of plans?? I'll take a set if you do!!
Are some of you guys scratch building??
If so let me know...I could make a mold of of the Belly Pan if anyone needs them and can't find them anywhere...
I'll probably do the Belly Pan and the Canopy...I see the Aurora60 stuff is running out of stock...No kits..No Belly Pans...Not too sure on the Canopy??

Chris...Put me secondary to the other fellow's...If you run out..That's OK...I actually have a nice set of drawings...I just thought I could use a second set as a "Working Copy" for construction since you had extras...
If you run out..No Prob...I'll just get a set of mine re-printed for a working copy and save the originals...
It seems were loosing this valuable information...So at least this way we'll have a source for drawings...
Thanks for doing this BTW...A good idea..
Have Fun...

Hello Chris
I'll also take a copy, if you have any one left.
Could you please tell me the total (copying etc.) cost to post to Australia.
Many thanks
Sean

Sorry about that guys, I've been busy. I can do another set for anyone who wants them. I'll probably fold and mail in an envelope instead of a tube. Whoevers interested can Paypal me $20.00 if shipping in US $25.00 if shipping to Canada [email protected] I'll probably wait a week or so before I get the copies done. Sorry again about not getting back sooner.
