Roguedog I'm with you on this, but I see all this super nice threads on here and some real nice pictures.
Don't get me wrong I like these threads 100% but it does not show me the way from step 1 how they do it.
Like cloth weight, type of epoxy, if they thin the epoxy etc. etc.
But I will get a hang of it, just have to open my mouth and ask more questions.
If you don't ask you will never learn, thats why I started this thread.
You guy's are my insperation and thats why I check classic pattern forum several times a day.
Keep up the good work so I can learn something
Take care.

There are some really great build threads on this forum that have a lot of detail. I love following them and I learn something new from every one of them.

My first true pattern plane was a great planes tiporare. The instructions were pretty good about building a glass and foam kit. You'll find there's about a dozen different ways to sheet foam wings. I've defaulted to the easiest method. Trim the wood with a razor, tape enough sheets together for a wing set and smear an extremely thin layer of polyurethane glue. Then stick everythingback into the shucks and weight them down.

You know Mike, my last bird, came out brilliant, using a similar technique to yours.
My only change to yours is a coat of dope to start with, where you use balsarite.
Having said that, I keep thinking that there's gotta be a lighter, better way to do beautiful models.
I guess that's how we progress though, isn't it?
