Hi,

I vote for same type of structure a Pylon forum, just a main headline (without any posts) and then the sub forums where You make posts.

Sounds like everyone is in agreement!

Mike, other than navigability (is that a word!?) and ranking, are there other RCU advantages to the proposed new structure?

Changing it is great but it would be nice to know if and how it may benefit current and new members.

I’m not sure of all of the benefits but the ability to have polls is one of them. I think the main advantage would be a cleaner structure that is clearer and less confusing. The way it is structured now one might think that the “Contemporary Pattern” section is presented first because there is more activity there, or it has greater importance but as we have all observed over the last few years that is not the case.

The original idea for the “Classic Pattern” forum was mine, I helped sell the idea to the RCU management and I would like to see it go to the next level. As you all know I’ve also spent an incredible amount of my time here posting detailed build threads and helping the forum grow.

I’d like to see more comments and then I’ll ask the RCU management to review our thread and ask them if they would comply with our wishes.

Gents/8178 , times go bye,
There is not enough known and written in the threads about the history of pattern flying. It is my opinion about that by a lot of facts I discover. As times goes bye they will be forgotten forever, for example my project about the Oldest Taurus on Earth. This Taurus was reality and for me my thread is one of the last public possibilities to save this part of an old history, the first period of pattern flying.

Speaking about pattern, there is more attention now for “modern” period of classic pattern, retracts, pipes etc.
It will be better to bring the subject “Pattern Flying” on a higher level, so the “Pylon” structure is better I think and the result can be, classic pattern will get more attention in the future and publications with more result.

Remarkable for me is, this thread of 8178 is started in ”classic”, so I do not know how the “modern, modern” pattern flyers do think about the new structure because they will do a step back I think.

Gents, for who is interested? In Classic Pattern Flying? These people!

A short note about a post I still remember from the thread of CAsniffer,

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7521083

Also for these people/pilots it will be a profit to have an easy way to find the threads of Classic Pattern Flying..

Forum change...cheers to 8178!

Reality: Not everyone who visits the "pattern" forum, EVER visits the "Classic Pattern" forum or even knows to visit. This is based on traveling the country, attending shows, receiving calls as an NSRCA officer, F3A Team fund raising and the stuff that I write here on R C U (literally 100,000's of hits on initiated threads).

R C U Police: I view the R C U police as inconsistent at best and biased most often.

Possible Solutions:

Maybe I should simply pick up my words and set-up in another sand box?

My personal desire to create and share information that is satisfying and relevant to others will continue. The brain surgeons who run R C U must not recognize the fact that the participants are "driving by" and in their travels may need to be reminded or their interest peeked via a compeling thread in an adjacent forum like the "pattern" forum or the "classic pattern" forum or vice versa. The fact that threads are "MOVED" is truly nutty.

The very reason the Classic Pattern-Trader was created is a function of the disfunction of R C U! The fact that I must write R C U to prevent the sensorship is a prime example.

8178 and all.....

I agree 100% with the concept. I do think it's time for a change and a much need improvement in structure. Now I can't promise anything but I have also put in a request.

I fly AMA pattern with my Black Magics as most of you know - BUT I am in the finishing stages of a super kaos and I am scratch building a Curare that I have redrawn from the mk plans. I understand the interest and why it's important. There is more activity in the classic arena than ever before. Personally I am really "digging" Underwood1's suprafly project.

I proposed that we make the main group heading "RC Precision Aerobatics".

so it would be structured -

"RC Precision Aerobatics"

Pattern

Electric Pattern

Classic Pattern (that would include spa as the spa designs are "classic")

set up just like the pylon forum structure...

When I hear something, I will pass it on to the forum.

handglider.....

Yippee! If all goes well, it sounds like the structure change will take place this weekend.
