Its caused by a misspent youth and working for a living all your life. Not to mention the unavailability of OEM parts.
I got bad news this week, I went in for my follow up to my previous doctor visit. The good news is I don't have pneumonia, the bad news she suspects a change in my Pulmonary Fibrosis and my kidneys function appears weak. I now have two more referrals (Early birthday present? ) one to a Pulmonary Specialist and the other to a Kidney Specialist. Betty Davis was right old age ain't no place for sissies!

Sorry to hear your news Flyer.
I have a slight problem with my knees and my right hip sometimes gives me gyp if I'm in one position all of the time, for example at the end of a long car journey, otherwise I'm ok. I put it down to kick-starting recalcitrant British motorcycles and playing rugby in my youth and early maturity. Whenever I hear a politician say that they want to, "Kick-start the economy!" I know they've never owned a 500cc single cylinder BSA!
But just to lighten the mood, I've discovered the latest film of the 2017 Coupe Des Barons. I'm a competitor in this year's event on 2nd June. Just to remind you, all of the models have to be built to a formula and there are four events:
You are only allowed to take one model to the event but I'm building a second one just in case I crash my Russian one. I plan to give the reserve model a RAF scheme fro the 1920s-1930s and will instal an electric motor so that I won't have any starting problems.
Enjoy and watch out for me in this year's video, pale blue club polo shirt and Australian bush hat. http://saffiotipatrick.wixsite.com/vl38/les-barons

- Baguettes. Where you have to hit 1 metre high balsa sticks stuck into the ground.
- Pylon. Which is a straight forward pylon race, then after a typical French lunch....
- Renard. Where you have to cut off a streamer towed by a trainer.
- ...and finally Limbo where you have to fly between an enormous goal post.

At the end of the video there are a series of of stills. At 17.38 there is a picture of thirteen competitors including the two girls, holding on to their models. I presume that these are the survivors of the sixty-one which started.

Donny, thanks for the info on pictures. I've been using a size smaller than the limit allowed. I'll try one size smaller than that. See how it works. Post pictures of your implements, although you are about 5 hours away towing a trailer. I've seen the tamped down grass before but don't know what is causing it. Don't think it is coyotes in my area. Deer more probable. Area is drying out so mowing time coming up soon. In the meantime I get to work on my model. Also take a break from work.

If you're referring to me acdii,
- I wasn't a competitor in the 2017 Coupe Des Barons.
- It's usually far too hot in France in June to wear thick overalls. They were all in shorts weren't they!

Just returned from flying my electrified Junior 60 at the flying field this afternoon. I spent some of the morning increasing the downthrust of the electric motor and it's improved its flying characteristics no end, but I think I'll add a little more, then it'll be ready for use teaching nervous elderly beginners how to fly.
Much though I appreciate the convenience, reliability and cleanliness of electric flight, I have an Enya 19X and an Irvine 20 looking accusingly at me!

Next time don't let the glow engines and planes see the electric job leaving/returning the hanger.

That's just your guilty conscience nagging at you! For penance I prescribe 4 flights of a badly over rich 2 cycle glow running on a straight castor oil fuel with a messy clean up to follow. You should feel absolution on completion for at least the time it takes the hair to grow back you pull out from the frustration.

Thats the problem with the 125. Last time I tried it looked like it wasn't drawing fuel, but the tank is fine, so have to get it put together and get it on the bench and see if I can get it to pop.

Well guys I been mulling over this 52" riding mower it seems forever, even got the cash money to pay for it, while doing my negotiations with the salesman the price was lowered to 1600 bucks and I almost jumped in with both feet , but,... the thought of having to replace the engine in about two years or less stopped me cold. Once again one of our best engine manufacturers trying to save a few dollars, turned to the Chinese for parts, and true to form the quality went out the door. the engines I found out, tend to seize, burn oil because the oil scraper rings lock up, blow head gaskets, leak gas from the carburetter, loose all oil during operation which leads to a thrown connecting rod. Now that leaves me very frustrated I really would like to have that mower, I have been looking for a reliable engine of that size (24HP) but the prices is as much as the mower itself. I pulled out my snapper mower and got it running and will try to get the old Montgomery Ward back on line and put my 2000 bucks back in the credit union. I am getting too old to be rebuilding all this old stuff I own, but If I can't get decent stuff from our store I haven't much choice.........Now get this, the parts I have to purchase to make these repairs, guess where they are made............................

There is an Englishman, a retired Surrey traffic policeman, who flies with a club about thirty miles (50kms) away. We've got a retired traffic gendarme in our club but that's beside the point. This Englishman likes to fly large models so he bought himself a new Peugeot 5008 people carrier, the seats remove really easily so that he can easily fit the models into the car.
Peugeot is a well-known make of French car, Columbo drove one, and they have a factory about 140 kiles away from here at Clermont Ferrand. Guess where the 5008 was built?
If it's any consolation, the John Deere motor mower which I bought last year was made in Tennessee.

Yes the John Deere company produces there own equipment, and controls the quality. where the motor is made isn't the problem other than the quality of the materials used to make them is inferior. regardless of who makes it, silk purses do not come from a sows ear. even in China.
the peugeot is well known here.

The JD sold at Lowes, and HD are not made by Deere, but made overseas with Deere paint. The ones sold at the JD stores though are made by Deere. You also pay a lot for them. Have a 500X, paid over 5K for it. Good runner, does the job well. My wife got stucng while mowing and ran into a tree. Busted the hood up, and she threw the pieces out. I wish she hadn't, a replacement hood is over $800.

When you look at the cost of parts made in the US viruses those made in China, you can but two of the Chinese items or put that money from the two items from China into something made in the US. Either way, it's going to cost you the same. We let all of this happen, by buying items from China and not putting our money into the economy of the US. So only have ourselves to blame.....
