A combination of celebrating career goal and name contraction.

Frank because my first name is Frank, nthumb because I have a nubby tail growing out of the end of my spine that looks like a thumb.
Actually: I sliced my thumb open pretty good one night and had to get stiches. I posted a pic of it here and my buddy mhwaker started calling me Frankenthumb. Billy Hell took the pic I posted and superimposed Frankensteins face. That's where I got the avitar.

Huey-Pilot came from what I do to pay for my RC flying, I started flying Huey's in 1967, flew two tours in Vietnam and I still fly them at Ft. Rucker as an instructor pilot with more than 30 years on active duty in the US Army.

I chose mine because a Cessna plane was what I wanted in RC then and in real life. The 26 is a number I like and I think the whole name is easy to remember. I would change is maybe if I could.

When I was about 3 or 4 I had one of those beeny caps with a propellor on top. Used to run around the yard flaping my arms and making "airplane noises", because we had an Air Force base only a mile away. Always loved airplanes (and cars) and when I went to A&P mech. school they called me "Proptop" because I told the guys about the beeny, and they used to bust 'em on me about it ...

Northriver21: My boat is a 21' Northriver inboard jet boat 330 HP. I use it for fishing and screaming up and down Alaskan rivers.
Who said it has to have wings to fly?

When I was a kid, the Blue Max was one of my favorite movies. The local UHF station would occasionally play it on Sunday afternoon. Whenever I watched it, I ended up building a model airplane, flinging balsa gliders, or flying a control line model. A few years ago I bought and watched a VHS copy, and got the urge again. This time I decided I could afford a life long dream of flying RC airplanes. That's why I use Bruno Stachel, the main character of The Blue Max.

Hey Art, GB sniper eh. I woulda never thought that, that's cool. I shoot with an ex Marine sniper. I shoot indoor 3P smallbore. I have a national ranking (although way down the list). If ya ever end up in central PA give me a shout. I gots me a spiffy Winchester 52 that I could loan ya. Wee could go shoot some paper. Hows about it, 14 power Unertyl and all.
Anyhow how I got my nickname. I worked at a garage with a freind of mine. The service manager asked my freind what my name was. He told him (Mark Shuman), and he said " I keep thinking it's Fred or somethin". He thought this was hilarious. I didn't care. Anyhow several weeks later I ordered a garage coat with my name on it. You'll never guess what my jacket said when it came in. You got it PHREAD. Sorta a french adaptation of fred. The 59 is the year of my birth. So now I'm Phread to a lot of my friends.

Mine came from a HAM radio friend that I used to keyboard with on Packet Radio. One day he sent his name with a typo as "Joh8n" then said "the 8 is silent." I thought that was kinda funny so he started calling me "Phi3l the silent 3 guy".
