Composite ARF revision questions

Hi to all!!!
I recently picked up a Cermark/Topgun composite spit never assembled. After reviewing the build threads it seams to be extremely weak where the retract rails are mounted (numerous posts about guys ripping retracts out and having to rebuild)
Ive been building off and on for 35 years, balsa mostly, then standard covering or fiberglass then paint. I’ve never worked with composite materials. So my question is if I peel back the bottom of the wing to rebuild the landing gear rails and beef them up what do I need to do to patch her back up? Can I use my standard method of balsa sheet, then fiberglass mat and resin? Thanks in advance!

if its a hollow molded wing, neatly remove the paint from around the perimeter of where you plan to do your work, remove the lower skin using an angled cut in the center of the area you removed the paint from, then do whatever internal beefing up you need, then just reattach the lower skin and glass over the seam that you cut.

Speed racer,
There’s a thread on here that shows one of the members cut into the rear part of the fuselage to install a pull-pull tail wheel and rudder…..
I tried to post pics, but I guess I haven’t posted enough to earn the “PRIVILEGE” to do so…..

After digging into the wing I’ve found the wing is balsa built, balsa sheeted and covered in what looks like Oracover. The fuselage is maybe a fiberglass mold. There’s a thread on here (Cermark Spitfire) that shows one of the members cut a patch out of the rear of the fuselage to install a pull-pull tail wheel and rudder……
I tried to post some pics, but they wouldn’t go through. Thanks!
