All,
I want to buy an electric power starter for my Super Ringmaster with K&B 19 and K&B 29 engines. The plans show a 2 inch spinner, but I see millions of different spinners on the Brodak and Amazon sites and elsewhere.
Any guidance from you all?? I want the spinner to fit both the plane and the starter "cone"???
Thanks,
aaganz

All,
I think I found what I needed. I ordered DU-272 from Brodak which is a " "Spinner 2 " White 2 Blade for $8.95". Unfortunately the shipping cost is $15.99 additional!! We'll see how it fits!

Ya that shipping is a joke, and spinners when connected to a start motor is another issue. I see the guys that fly Nitro use them all the time. And the electric boys just grinn. A few of my spinners are used for nose weight Higgley models have them in brass and aluminum. Keepin them lines Tite! AJ

I was thinking about your question about electric start motors. As I said I have one, but never use it. I may be pushing that envelope, but my motors all Fox or should I say mostly all Stunt 35s. My 59 likes to kick, but I’ve been adjusting the needle valve in an attempt to nil that issue. Been wondering if that needle valve is the correct one. I removed it, the hole that is controlled by needle assembly is a drill size. That’s very close to what my Stunt 35 is. Just a very tad larger. My small drill pack is sized, but I dropped it and the several drills about twenty in all
,fell to the ground. So small that only a magnetic tool would pick them up. Big mistake. But back to your issue. The cone on your electric starter. Is important and must fit your spinner like a glove fits your hand. I was running Four cycle OS motors when I bought my electric starter. It worked well, starting my Four cycle RC engines. Out of RC now. Just can’t afford it any more. But adjusting my 59 Fox has become an issue, learning a new phase of our hobby, it’s enjoyable to say the least. But adjusting that spray bar location angle. Guys keep them lines tite! AJ

Aaganz kinda got off the build mode, after I had my appointment, two week with Xrays and found out what they did and why I was in lots of pain after my back surgery. They found my spine was cracked open and the disc fell on top of each other. They had to place a plate to repair my spine with four screws. Got another appointment in six months with xrays to see if all that is still their and has not loosed up. So as we say in 25 things are not bad but could be better. How is your starter been working out. Got them motors running and tuned up yet! ? Hope so, just keep them lines tight and straight! AJ

AJ Sun, et al,
With a house build project just underway, spinner is yet to be tried with the electric start....but your comments above are taken to heart! For my windshield (Super Ringmaster) I have collected an assortment of plastic bottles and containers, all of which have a nice curvature. After the engine starts, I'll be turning to the windshield shaping and gluing.
Sorry about your continuing back issues. I had major back surgery in 2003. The discs between L4 and L5 had thinned and slipped out, and L4 was slipping away from L5. I had a fusion of the vertebrae and a square plate and 4 screws put in to stabilize everything. It has held up for 22 years so far (!!). I did find I couldn't twist side to side on a narrow bed anymore, and moved to a queen size bed so I could "log roll" to each side!! Good luck!

aagaz. Ya that log roll is tough when your flat on two sides. I guess that plate stuff is pretty standard glad to hear you have held together. You were a little younger when you had your back fusion. I will be 80 in 26. That plate is still bothering me. But it’s better each day. Been doing a little clean up on my Fool and got the new tank cover almost complete on my Super Ringmaster. Mounted the Ringmaster, in the lead out jig. And will wrap the lead outs. I’ve been looking for some plastic bottles to see if they will fit my Tom Tom and Super Ringmaster. Kinda like the small sprite bottle, but it’s just a tad short to fit properly. Hey if you find a good fit, clue me in! I will do the same. Looked at the Sig .010 formed wind screen it’s about $6.00 with $15.00 shipping. It’s 2 1/4 wide and 10” long. I just might the bullet and order two. The are also two inch high. In .30 thick. I will let you know if I do that and see how it works out. Hey Brother keep them lines straight and tight! AJ
will will you believe The canopy I wanted from Sig is sold out. Go figure. Back to that drawing board.

Well I tried the small sprite bottle, it was to short, but fit at 2 1/4 wide and 2 “ tall just not long enough. Most of the soda bottles are wide enough and tall enough. I might try to use a bit of thick card stock and shape what I am looking for. Then cut the acetate to fit. Keep them lines straight and tite.AJ

aaganz you ever get your spinner workin? I’ve been weighting my Flying Fool engine and got the landing gear installed finally got to use my original three inch Veco Wheels, sure look nice! But added a little weight. Doing a counter balance with lead weights to try to balance this puppy. Installed the lower wing, and will start my cover next week before it gets too hot. Using Nitrate dope, and fine sanding between coats. Lots of fun, keepin them lines straight and tight! AJ

Aaganz how ya doing? I’ve experienced kinda of a set back, haven’t done a thing with my hobby in about a month! Trying to heal this back issue. Guess I’ve kinda given up. Just might sell out, and say good by to all this. It’s been nice, but eventually it all comes to an end. And I think I’ve seen that point, so I will good by to all you great guys. Best wishes and safe flying!
