Hello, I'm new here but fairly old on the handle side of the lines (and the sticks too....), here are my current planes : the newest, yet to be painted is a Kamikaze by Claudio Orsini, a classic here, (FOX35, 1050 grams as in the picture), the green one is Steila by Franco Ballesio (ST51, 1850grams), with take apartable wings and tail

Kurt I like your electric control line, it looks like it is a brushless motor. What do you use to run the motor?

Steve I love that flying fish of yours and would love some more pics of that.

Sorry John, I missed this when you first posted it. Haven't got any more photos yet, but here are a couple of video clips:

Not the best quality footage, but it gives you an idea what the Flounder does, and why you need one!

Steve, I have to admit that the flounder is remarkable to watch, but I swear to howdy, Dude, all I could see were those wires in the background. I know you weren't even close, but I still got the shivers. I'm lookin' forward to the pics.

Steve think you very much, indeed I enjoyed that. You gotta love fantasy characture airplanes.

What struck me most is how well it stays on the lines with all that sustained overhead stuff, amazing.

Here is a Crackerjack with full fuselage that I adapted from a 1/2A profile plan. I also added a sym. airfoil.

I have not yet had the guts to try it!! That .o49 has a GloBee head and timing shim with dual bypass cylinder and it cooks! I am still practicing going around in circles while waiting for the 108 degree weather to break.. I will post after the maiden.[8D]

Perhaps its the nature of the bellcrank. With the majority of control horns on the bottom side of the elevator possibly for estectics, it will require a push on the pushrod for up and that means the rear line must be pulled. For that to be reversed the control horn would need to be on the top side of the elevator.

Yah-I had thought about the esthetics angle as i did not want the control horn on top-just wondered if there was a performance issue with having the lines reversed.
The reason I am curious about this is;when I was very young I attempted to design and build a u-control plane-I copied the deminsions as close as I could estimate from a three view in a magazine, actually. I seem to remember the drawing having a CG indicated, and I think I was fairly careful about the whole thing.
Every time I attempted to fly it, It would leave my buddy's hand, fly a few feet forward and then abruptly loop back and fly inverted into the ground.
I do not remember how I arranged the controllines-but as I was building the Crackerjack it occured to me that the up line in the back may have seemed counter-intuitive to my young mind, and the rest as they say,is history.
If I had the lines in the front is up configuration, would this help explain the models' behavior? I got it to almost complete a lap inverted, once. It never flew right.[&o] hey John-have you seen my models yet? LOL Check out The FF Forum thread!

They are an upgrade aftermarket performance plug/clamp ring that were made for Cox engines back in the day-you can still get them on eBuy occasionally. I have read that they work just great on td and Med. engines without a timing shim but if you put one on a BabeeBee or Surestart you have to put a copper circular shim/gasket between the crankcase and cylinder head(at the bottom of cylinder). These shims are available on eBuy as well. If you do not use the shim on the BabeeBee and S. start, they just flat won't run. With the shim, look out! The shims usually come in set with three different thicknesses-you just have to experiment to find the right one. I think the major advantage of these heads is the flat coiled glow element itself-much greater surface area. The increase in power and rpm can be substantial. If you blow the picture up all the way, you can see that it is not a stock head-you can also see the copper shim at the base of the cylinder.
If you cannot find GloBee, Merlin Glow Plugs makes one that is almost identical-they are on the web. I do not Know if they require a timing shim or not.[8D]

loved the Ringmaster but the vidio was destroyed for me by the music and editing out the sound. That really ruins it for me and many vidios I just shut off early. Personal prefrences notwithstanding in music played to loud eliminates the ability listen carefully to the engine for any kind of evaluation and enjoyment.

Matheson What would be really wonderful if you could post some vidio of your Jet speed ship. Is there still controlline speed events at Whittier Narrows in Los Angeles?
