Just got ARF Top Flight Nobler and Max 46LA-S so Mustang will get pushed back. Am going to Statesboro Fly-In this weekend. It's kinda all R/C but will take my 2 C/L's and maybe the winds will be good for me. I'm gonna PM you my phone #. Hope we can get together next weekend? How about a pic of your YAK !!!!

Sorry guys but Nobler is on it's way back to Great Planes. Was changing lead-outs and decided to mount wing in body and check incidence, and found at least 1 degree between wing panels. UGHHHH !!!!! Took off wing and set straight edge on wing at trailing edge and it has some interesting bows, about .250 half way out on one panel. And at least that much on 1/3 of the of the leading edge.
They said I should have checked it out before I started to work on it. Well I would not have worried about a little twist, but when the leading edge was crooked, I threw in the towel and am at the mersy of them to replace it. Hope they do.
Should have just built the Mustang. Now I have a new Max 46LA-s and no plane to put it in.

That sucks I HATE ARFS!!! What a waste of time they are. The time it would have taken to fix that nobler you could have built that mustang. A member at the club in Darien flys a Sterling mustang and a ringmaster. I'll try to talk him into coming up and flying with us.

Cost $35.53 to send that back to Top Flight. OUCH. They said Tower should reimburse me for shipping. I hope they do the right thing and send me a better plane, and some money would be nice. I have built a few Top Flight models in the past, and as instructor at various clubs have "Test Flown" many others. I did not even suspect this kind of problem with the wing. Again, I'm not angry, just kinda disappointed. Always wanted a Nobler and hopefully WILL get one. Whoops, just saw the belly pan sitting here on the table. Guess I didn't get it back in the box. Should be OK though cause when I got the plane there were no wheels in it. I hope I'm not spitting into the wind. Have dealt with Tower Hobbies since they first opened for busines in the 70's. NEVER had ANY problems with them.

Looks real good Jason. Can't wait to see um flying. Yak is cool. I always had Mustangs, but I think they both had the same wing, or kinda the same. Yours should fly great at that weight.
On the Nobler deal, I'm pretty sure they agreed with, me and am sending me a new one. Hope this one is straight. Now if they sent me the shipping costs I'd be grateful. Stay tuned. Should have built the Mustang. Well winter is comming so will probably have time for that, or the Super Ringmaster I got sitting here.

Great nostalgia shots! Iremember the days of my first airplanes having tires the size of bush planes ...still didn't help on grass.
My '74 first "big engine" (.15) plane was a Midwest ME-109. When I came back into the hobby this past year, I went onto EBay and found another one that I'm going to duplicate parts from. I'll keep ya posted.

I warned you folks a few months back that I was actually going to get off my duff and "build" something after years away from the hobby. Well, I did it...First plane in 15 years, first plane from scratch - no plans and first time to try to get most of it documented before it gets turned into kindling. It's a "stand off in the next county" profile wanna' be scale of a T-28 Trojan.
Yes, the nose is too long and the tail moment too short, but at least the nose gear will give it a nice rebound effect when it plows in because it's going to be way too nose heavy. Span is 25" Chord including flaps is 5 1/2". I just didn't feel like making it a double taper wing, but when I scale it up for a .15 (which I plan to do) it'll look a lot better.
The good news is that I still have all my fingers and I'm single now, so the stray balsa shaving or smell of dope does not offend the other half. I'll keep you posted as this thing moves along.

Here are a couple of my OTS Frank Ehling Easy's. A #5 for St G20-15 diesel, and a #7 for Tower 40. Both were flown at various VSC's, but are now demised.

Ihad a Ringmaster Imperial at one time that had no rudder offset. Instead, the vertical stabilizer was an airfoil with the flat section to the outside of the circle; the idea would be to have a wing effect to pull the tail in. An aerodynamic offset if you will.

On the Cheap Thrill, with the elliptical tips, I didn't go to the trouble of doing adjustable leadouts. It was the fourth iteration of the general design, so I knew about where the leadouts should go. The guide is a piece of flattened 1/4 in aluminum tubing in the tip. I made the rudder adjustable. That can substitute to some extent for adjustable leadouts. Ended up using no offset. I generally install rudders with no offset.
