Default Cloud Dancer does not make a good wheat combine

Finally really beginning to like this plane and look what happens! I had a brain disconnect between the head and the thumbs. Funny how when your inverted and you pull a little up elevator and realize it's the wrong way that pulling more up elevator doesn't help the situation at all!!!

The story that I am sticking to is that the farmer was behind in his harvesting so I thought I would give him a hand.......

or

It's the first plane that I put in.....I had to get it out of my system sometime......

I am looking for another one of these if anyone has one they are looking to sell.

Hey that doesn't look totally destroyed. A little bit of CA here and there and she should be as good as new. Are you planning on repairing?

No send it to me! lol Why fix a crashed plane when it will only crash again? If you need to replace the ribs and don't have the plans for reference, could you manage to use CA debonder to remove a good rib to use as a reference if the other ribs are trashed? Are there any repair tips or info around on the net?

Certainly repairable. Might take 30 to 40 hours to do it right, but if you had to build a new kit....

I assume this was an ARF, and you want to replace it with another ARF. How long did it take to put together initially? How badly do you want to learn how to build (repair)? How much money do you have to throw at this stuff?

All questions you should answer before you proceed.

Default cloud dancer as a combine

Still haven't decided whether I will fix or forget this one. It was an ARF that took about 10-15 hours to put together. Believe it or not it was my first plane after the trainer..........didn't like it then. After flying the wings off of everything else I could get my hands on I finally decided I really like the plane. Everything was really smooth nothing jerky or out of control looking, just a nice flying - nice looking airplane.

There is A LOT of internal fuse damage, the pictures don't do justice to what is actually seen inside. Basically everything that could pop loose inside is loose.

It will probably just turn into a wall display, I am considering cutting the tail off and mounting it on the wall as if it went through....he he

Still have to see if the engine survived...hope so. It was just starting to really run good. Maybe 30 flights total on it.

I think I would try to repair it. Thin CA can do wonders on cracked but still perfectly fitting pieces.

There are some members here that have a wall display of crashed planes, they look like hunting trophies, I get a kick out of it , do a search and you will find the pictures.

I have this same plane so I feel your pain. Mine hasn't flown yet so lets hope history doesn't repeat itself. Good luck if you try to fix it.

I don't know. I once had a History teacher that said history always repeats itself. I must of heard that the one day I was actually paying attention.

flyerdarren

You will love the plane, it is such a fine machine. Everything is very smooth and very controlled, I found no bad tendancies to it.

I will say that if you are not comfortable landing a bit on the fast side you may have to work with it a bit. It will glide in ground effect forever if you let it, so I found that with a little hotter landing it was perfect. One word of caution though, upon landing DO NOT pull any up elevator until it is almost at a stop or it will jump back into the air on you ......been there - done that!

When looking down on plane make sure your landing gear is forward enough to see the atleast 1/2 the wheels infront of the wing or it has a really really bad tendancy to be very light in the tail and will nose over while taxiing on a grass runway.

By the way if you decide you don't like the plane for some reason feel free to pack it up and send it to me, I would be more than happy to give it a good home!

I knew you would like it, seems that everyone that flew mine really liked it. I have been contemplating the ordering of a new one, however, I do have a TT champion 45L which is a very similiar airplane by design but only a 46 size. I also have a U CAN DO 46 with a brand new Saito 72 both of which need to be put together.

Boy do I miss that Cloud Dancer though..........
