Devo, now that's an idea!!!
I had a plan to do that.
1. take old Kraft radio
2. take old plane
3. old servos and Rx
4. lighter fliud on the wing
5. Light and take off
The lighter fliud burns itself, not the material it's on. I would know, i had my hand set on fire with that stuff, I didn;t even get hot (of course for the body hair...........). Anyway, you might get 10 minutes of flight before covering melts, then next comes the balsa
Adios airplane. Anyone want to try it and tell me (Make sure to get video!)

It won't stay lit in the wind and naptha does not have a very bright flame when burned that way. You'd have a better chance with rubber cement, it stays where you put it.
Make sure you have CO2 and water extinguishers on hand when you do it (CO2 for the plane and people, water for the weeds and bushes).
I'd light it while it's in the air with a model rocket igniter and have it on a safety that is attached to a string which is pulled after it taxis half way down the runway (good and far from you).
When you go hot (arm the circuit) have someone stand well behind you with the fire extinguisher.
This is all just conjecture and I wouldn't do it on a bet as the potential for something to go wrong is very great, especially when you loose control and have a burning out of control plane flying away. You'll probably get arrested by the fire marshal and have some type of pyromaniac charge on your criminal record but, hey, have fun!
And by all means videotape it and post it here for us to see.

Yeah, by the way, I do not endorse any such action and subsequent liability from doing this "stunt" If anything happens it's you're own fault. There I posted it, so you can't blame me
On another note, that would be fun to see, but of course very dangerous. I wonder how those wildfires out west actually started
?
Anyway, don't do it. And if you do, be careful, it's your fault alone!

Just a little sarcasm on my part. I wouldn't have burned any of the planes I've seen on this thread. I think a little more practice flying would be in order. If that doesn't work, then throw a tantrum!

Thats just crazy, I would have bought the lt-40 wing for a fair price. I would have rebuilt it with less or no dihedral, giving me one plane 2 wings and an 2 different flying characteristics. I am sure many others with an lt-40 would have had much use for it. Anyway its ultimately your call what you do with it in the end. Sad to hear.

A friend of mine told me several years ago that every plane (RC that is) has a date written with invisable ink in the tail somewhere when it will crash. The bummer is is that you don't know what that date is! Everytime I go flying I wonder if it's that day!
Something to ponder.
Chris.
