Just a thought but it sounds like one of your blades pitch isn't changing....like one blade is changing to pos pitch when the other isn't. Are you using the 3bb blade grips?

Hey guys, I can't for the life of me get my blade grips off. The screw holding them to the spindle just keeps on turning but nothing's happening. What do I do?

I belive your refering to my question. Im using the 2BB setup. Now that you say a pitch problem i can see that making this happen. Not sure why its happening though

Woops, bad quote! Yup, your problem. A buddy of mine broke his blade grip (he had the 3bb ones, and replaced the one broken grip with a 2bb unit.) With the 2bb grip the pitch would not change properly.
Just a thought. That, and make sure the blades are tracking evenly.
Hope that helps!

Well, another exciting day with the BCP. Trying to relearn side-in is (for some reason) harder than learning it the first time! I learned it within 2 weeks the first time, then I was out for about a month and a half due to a radio glitch which caused a horrible crash. I've been relearning for almost twice the flight time (it's been more than one week, and now I have 2 800mah packs instead of the stock 650). Wierd. The worst part is that I was trying to rotate in a full-circle, and when it turned nose-in towards me, I lost control and it went psycho into the brick wall behind me, fell 15-20ft, hit a plastic table and landed in some grass. The damage this time? One inch of covering peeled off one blade. I'm amazed at how much more crash-resistant this heli seems to be with the aerobatic kit. I think the curved sym blades help a lot in reducing crash damage. I hope that holds true when I go into the real crazy stuff like nose-in and inverted! [X(]
Anyway, thanks for the great tutorial Bdavison. It sure helped me after that monster crash I had.. probably saved me 5 hours and a pair of blades!

Well, I recently got the blade cp and had to replace a few parts already, but my question is, i have some slop with my main gear shaft and my shear pin. i guess that is b/c i've crashed a few times, but has anyone else encountered this and should i replace the shaft? it seems my vibrations are very low, but i just want to know in the long run. what will happen, if any thing?

So what was his solution to that problem. Back to the 3BB?

The tail boom is glued in, you could try some debonder. Same with the tail motor housing. It seems some people's are glued in pretty good while others are just good enough to hold in place. If you're lucky it's just good enough to hold in place and it'll remove somewhat easily.
Yes, you'll have to take the wires off of the motor.

have anybody have trouble w/ there tail motor drive shaft coming loose and not spinning smoothly? the little brass collar under the gear keeps rising up and causing the tail motor to be rough and not working properly.

flyboy,
That usually means to get another tail motor. At least that is what I have had to do - I don't know of anyone repairing it- but there may be someone. Maybe you could experiment with it? I would go to LHS and get a couple spares myself :0)

I have the blade grips with the 2 ball bearings and a brass tube and I assumed I had the 2 bb grips but when I went to the lhs to get the 3bb grips I looked and the package said 3 bb but had the same setup as mine 2bb and brass tube then the other option was a pack of blade grips just had brass bushings.Am I crazy or where is the third bb or did the store mark the package wrong? Do I have the 2 or the 3 bb grips (I would assume only 2)? Also where can I see a pic of the 2 or the 3 bb grips so that I can identify what I have?

I had the same problem. I ordered the 3BB kit from horizon hobby, and it never included the third bearing. The difference between the 2BB grip and the 3BB grip is that the 3bb grip has a deeper indentation to be able to receive the third bearing. Since they now have 3 bearings the shorter brass tube is now needed. You need to buy 2 extra bearings. When I contacted Horizon Hobby about this they waived the shipping charges, buy I still had to buy the 2 bearings. This is an update from the 2 BB grips and I thought they should have comped the bearings also, but no luck. Jerry

Would my blade even benefit from the aluminum swashplate? My guess is "not yet", mine is fairly new, so there is little slop in mine yet. I'm new to heli's and from what I see is this heli is good like it is, if you want more performance you should look at the others,(Trex, shogun, etc.)
I have a blast with mine, and it has really helped me with airplane 3-d stuff. Hovering a profile plane is simple now.

The bushing on my tail motor came out also. I just coated the sides with a little JB Weld and pushed it back in and its been as good as new.

I just want to thank you bdavison,
I found this thread after losing three sets of blades. After reading your thread all the way through, I went back and reset my Blade. It was was out of whack!! I had to do a lot to get it to zero. Then I found out after all that work, that my last crash bent my main rod. Now I have to wait for the parts to arrive. I am a rookie at helo flight(hence the nick), but I am having a real problem with my Blade. I hope that after I get my parts, I can finally get this thing in the air, it really hates to go UP!!!!!! However I do own a nice hovercraft...lol
Keep up the good work and thanks again for the help you gave me...I will keep you posted on how my beginning hover goes.

It just seem to slow of respones with just elevator. I thought maybe a rolling into inverted would be a little easier? Would like to ask before i damage more stuff :-D.

Has anyone tried to take off the flybar weights that are next to the paddles to see if it would respond quicker?
