Setting gain and prop'l on CP

Setting gain and prop'l on CP
Well I decided to reset the proportional and gain on my CP today using the method I seen on Runryder and heard a couple others talk about.
They say to turn your gain all the way down and set the prop'l with no gain. I did this and had it sitting perfectly straight BUT, when I then started turning up the gain the wash from the tail rotor started spinning the heli. No amount of gain adjustment could or CAN fix this. Prop'l is the only fix. Or trim adjustment obviously but in my oppinion trim is a last resort.
Before I started my gain was only a third of the way up.(using DD tail) and it was pretty good. Slight spinning but I could correct with trim and or a little right stick but I wanted it close to perfect and thats why I tried resetting it.
I havent yet done this, cuz Im taking a break or Ill lose it but Im going to set it again. This time Ill et my gain at about half, THEN adjust the proportional to get it as close as humanly possible.
I could be wrong because Im no heli expert (planes is my thing) but I believe that the gain should be set about 3quarters for a stock tail THEN straighten out the heli with prop'l.
Again Im not sure about this but I think turning up the gain sends more power to the tail motor,which is bad because this would also make kill your motor faster.

Hmmm, I never put the DD tail into the equation. I just have a stock single tail motor.
It may be more touchy than the stock single motor.
My proportional mix is at about 80 percent, clockwise and the gyro about 50 percent clockwise.

When I set mine I adjusted the Proporational to stop the nose from going to the left or right while hovering with the rudder trim in the netural postion. ( Now this will change as your battery drains down). I set mine with a fully charged battery and adjust the rudder trim as it drains down. I set the gain by increasing it until the tail would hunt,(Wag a little) then I turned it back down until it just stops.

Well I have to reset mine tomorrow as Im now in bed eating capt'n crunch and typin on my laptop but with the DD tail I have my gain set at about 1third and it holds pretty nice. I was just trying to fine tune it .

I plan on taking off the blades tomorrow and rebalance them, and check the main head, just for a maintence thing.
Oh, I bought some spray teflon made by dupont at the Loews Hardware store, talk about some sliiick stuff.
I teflon coated everything that moves or might move. Everything is smooooth now, if it wasn't for the blades pushing air, you can't hear anything.
Capt'n Crunch!!!! I always have a small bowl of potato chips (they have to be the ripple kind, just for the CRUNCH factor) and 4 double filled Oreo cookies. Been doing this for years, must be a habit.

Well it beats a bowl of crack lol
That oil I got from radio shack is pretty good too.It also has teflon bits. Ever since I replaved that main hub and lubed it up its like a whole new machine.
I still need to buy a pitch guage though. Maybe tomorrow Ill get 1 cuz Ive been doing it by eye. Takes a lot of adjusting when you do it like that but tonight I actually got it hovering real sweet. Till the next time I need to replace something of course. Its been 5 batteries now and I havent had to fix anything (knock on wood).
