Default 3in1 unit BCPpro

I was flying my blade in my living room and had it hovering pretty stably but then I later had a run in with my coffee table. I didn't see any broken parts but I think something is wrong with my 3in1 unit. I put the canopy back on and tried to fly it again but it was acting like the gyro wasn't working, the tail just kept spinning. I looked through the canopy and the red led was on and not blinking. I throttled back and unplugged the battery to reset it and it was green. The light stayed solid green until right before there was enough thrust barely lift the chopper off the ground, then it turned red and the tail started to spin around. Anybody know whats wrong or some way to fix this?

Thanks,
Rob Calkins

Sounds to me like that gear on the tail has come loose. Check that baby out and make sure everything is tight.

The gears are still tight and the tail rotor responds to commands. I guess its acting like the gyro is broken. I went through the initial checkout of the swashplate with the motors unplugged as described in the manual and when I throttle up, its green to a point then it turns solid red right around the point the heli lifts off.

The light turning red is normal. Mine does that as well when it reaches a certain point. You could also try turning up the gain a bit. Your rotor just may not be turning fast enough. Is the heli still spinning in circles or is it just the light that concerns you?

Yeah, its flying VERY differently. I had everything set up so that i lifted mostly straight off the ground. After the crash, the tail is really spinning around. I turned the gain up all the way and even with full trim its not enough to keep the heli straight. I think i'm just going to recharge the Li-Po's and start fresh tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions

Well if tomorrow it does it still the 1st thing Id try is setting the proportional again. Quite possible that bump knocked it out a bit. It doesnt sound serious at all so I wouldnt sweat it. Reset Prop'l and gain and Im sure itll be runnin sweet again

Psikelly, Check the gear on the tail motor. I had a tail strike and the tail looked okk but the motor was acually spinning in the gear. I gave it a drop of loctite and it good to go.

This same thing happened to me once. It turned out to be a bad tail motor. In a crash, the brushes in the motor can become damaged very easily, causing the motor to be weak.

Not sure if you're having the same problem or not, but worth checking...

Ok, I've figured it out and it was really simple. Low batteries. I recharged them and they took 1h27min, which is on the high end of charging time for fully discharged lipos according to the manual. I took Psikelly's advice and reset my gain and proportional and they are near where I had them before. Since I really noticed it after the crash, I assumed I broke something but just low batts. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Later,
Rob
