I ordered their skid for my BCP quite a few weeks ago. It arrived pretty quickly, very happy with that. After assembling everything and installing on my CP, I found that the bars that hold the canopy on won't fit anymore. The rear one is ok but the one on the front is directly in line with the cf rods that run from the front to the back of the skids. I emailed their tech support 4 different times and even sent them pictures of the problem but they have not responded. Does anyone here have their skids and are able to mount the canopy?
I am NOT HAPPY with Heli Direct support!
thanks for any help,
Gary

I had the same problem.I just pushed the rod thru.It pressed up on the rods that connect to the body. One thing I did was to make a longer 2mm rod in place of the existing 2mm rod that connects the body and remove the rubber grommets.

Same prob here as well. Same skids you have. I found that I dont need the front rod. I just use the back and it holds nice and tight. No need for the front one. But Im also using a Thunderpower lipo and it sits fairly far out front so maybe that helps keep the canopy tight.
You could always get a slightly longer rod. What you do is lay it across the llong rods that run lengthways down the landing gear. Use heavy thread and make a few wraps on each side to hold that CF rod against the other 2 and use CA glue on the thread . Works amazing. It stiffens right up and takes a LOT to break.
If you dont understand what I mean lemme know and Ill try replicate it here and take a couple pics for you.

I guess I am more disapointed that they didn't bother to reply back to me with some sort of solution - or at least an acknowledgement that there was a problem.
Thanks for the reply!

I didnt like the pressur it put on the 3in1/rx supports either. Im just not using the front mount now. It works fine sometime Im going to buy a pack of these little neo-dyn magnets and make it magnetic mount so I can quit fussing around with those grommets. I hate them.

Yeah, I'm a little disapointed in HeliDirect too. I ordered a rotor hub and the autorotation gear/stonger shaft assembly for a BCP w/ stock head. The hub was for a HBcp, which is not the same, and the shaft was not even close. plus the gear fit all 'wobbly' on the assembly. With shipping, their 15% restocking fee for returns, cost to drive to the post office, I figured it was not even worth returning them.
Of course, maybe I'm an idiot and the parts will work. Anyone have any suggestions? Especially on the shaft/auto rotate gear thing. Its the HDX300 or something like that...not the Century one.
regards,
doc

The gear should be a bit 'wobbly' on the auto-bearing. That is normal.
Did you get the shaft with the hole in it for the shear pin? If so, it will work with the stock head, but it is too long. You have to let the shaft protrude out the bottom of the auto-rotation bearing about 7mm to get the shear pin hole to the correct height.
If you got a shaft with no hole, then you ordered (or they shipped you) the wrong one by mistake. They make two shafts. One has the hole, the other does not. They are identical other than that, tho...

CT,
Thanks, I was pretty sure the problem was me being a dolt. My shaft does have the hole, but's it's drilled awfully close to end, compared to the stock one. I'll give it a go. It does seem if they advertise it for the BCP it should all be a better fit though. It's one thing to buy a part for another machine and adapt it, but if they say it's a replacement.....seems like it should be without any fuss.
and that Honeybee hub is not even close to being the same....at least in outward appearance.
Hey Gary....sorry to hijack your thread.....know it was about skids.....which I almost ordered but was worried a bit about the weight. Sure look cool though.
Maybe when I go w/ Lipo batteries, I'll try them.

this is what I got.

I got them from helidirect. They are that weird soft flexible plastic. Fit perfect except for the front canopy support shaft. That and they shifted my C.O.G. towards the tail I think. I just oredered the new Blue microheli dual tail mount from them too so Its gonna be real tailheavy soon.
Ride1226 are you using the tail motor heat sinks now that you have the dual tail assembly? I have 2 on my current tail motor. What do you think ...1 each....2 each...none?

Im also waiting on that dual tail mount from HD. Im using 2 heat sinks on each motor, they dont add that much weight. I want the motors running as cool as possible so they live longer.
