Default RE: Setup for Spectrum DX6 and Blade CP Pro

How in the world did you figure that out?

I checked mine and the combination added up to about 75% HH. So I was on the right track just fiddling with it.

The issue turned out to be the gear. I changed it and everything is rock steady now. There was too much binding at high speed for it to keep up. I guess I'd dragged the tail one too many times.

Thanks again for the help!

just a note, i don't have the DX6, but do have a futaba 7c. it's not a good idea to set your pitch to it's full mechanical range without brushless because the motor will really bog. i'm doing loops and rolls right now and tried to run full pitch, however, i do find that at about 27%, you'll get the best climb out vs motor bogging.

gwrong, i can't imagine what the blade would be like with bl main and tail and hh gyro.

Default RE: Setup for Spectrum DX6 and Blade CP Pro

Harry,

Thank you very much.

After having a bad TX on my CP PRO after only 12 days... I bought the DX6 and wow! What a HUGE difference.

NOTE: Horizon is swapping me out a new TX! So, if any one needs it, it will be new and for sale along with the stock rx!

My question is, can I sent up revo mixing to hold the tail with altitude change? My PRO is stock!

ALSO, has anyone smoothed out he ratchet on the throttle? If so how and what is the result?

Thanks all here for the input.

To remove the ratchet on the throttle, open up the transmitter and remove the spring that contacts the throttle quadrant.
It makes control a tad more precise.

Just figured out the throttle ratchet.

Took back off DX6, put a thin piece of heat shrink over metal ratchet arm, adjusted the tension on the screw and it feels like silk. Barely the slightest hint of notching.

Guess now with the extra DX6 servos staring at me, I'll have to get another heli... Damn this addiction... But it is a great one!

Get the Blade ARF kit. It's RTF except for the radio, servos, and battery.

The servos that come with the DX6 are only good for a blade size heli, some have pot them in T-Rexes just to strip the gears in them.

I use mine for spares for my CP Pro as I have blown a servo in mine and my son Blew one in his CP so they make good replacements.

Have fun.

Great idea, where can I order an AFR kit, probaly pretty cheap I would imagine...

Luckily I live a mile down the street from Bell Helicopter's main facility and found the "heli guy" at Hobbytownusa near by that works at Bell, flies rc helis, and works part time at the hobby shop. The stock little s75's are cheap but seem to work really well with the dx6... He suggested the $25.00 Hitec micros for the 400-600 size along with the JR digital for the tail on the DX6 rcvr.. I am already to get moving onto the Trex. They are just so damn cool. It's hard not putting ALL the bells and whistles on my CP PRO..

I have another question, after about 6 flights on the DX6.

When you plug in the battery to the 3in1, all the servos go ALL the way DOWN for a second until it sees the tx. SO, it really seem to bind and pull undue stress on the whole rotor setup.

Any way to not have this happen upon start up?

With Harry's settings and the servos centered mechanically and the sub trimmed, all my servos are working well except when you go to the far 4 corners of the collective stick, then just a slight binding/servo chatter as I call it..

Is this normal, and if not, which parameter do I adust to get NO BIND at all WITH FULL travel/rate? Bird is flying great, but as I do get into using stunt mode and needing to jam the stick around I don't want to beak/wear the servo/head unduely!

Do I need to do mechanical ajustment with the push rod length or electronic in the DX6 menu?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!

OH BY THE WAY, GO COWBOYS..... [8D]

FYI... After buring through my first tail motor I email Horizon. Here is their response.

Thank you for your recent email.

If you provide us with your address we will be happy to replace the tail
motor to you this time. In the future we might need to see the
defective product back here.

I understand it, however, is it only usable with a belt drive tail, or will it work with the stock cp pro tail setup?

Until I add HHgyro, it would smooth out the climb/drop tail postion, right?

I'm not really sure what your issue is, but you might want to try re-binding the RX as it may help.

I do not have any binding, but I did rebind after I set the heli up.

On my T-Rex it looks like I'm going with the

JR 3400g Servo for the tail
JR G500T Gyro
Hitec 65MG servos for the head

I did a lot of reading and this looks to be the best setup.

Well, today I was dialing in the hover the best I could mechanically with no trim at all other than sub trim top start with to center.

I then went through the binding procedure and no more binding during start up. You were right on the money!

I guess the fail safe points were full negative pitch before I re-bound and that was the fix. Learning this thing as I go..

I can get 2-3 seconds hands off with all trims on tx set flat... This will give me a great starting point and the ablility to adjust for wind, etc. outside...

Looks like I HAVE TO HAVE the g90! No question about it!

When I get it (HH Gyro), do I just plug it directly into GEAR, use your 83 setting and turn the stock gyro all the way down to start? Then start with like a 50% setting on the gyro itself?

What was your tweaking process for the HH gyro?

As per the book, plug it in turn down the proportional.

My settings are probably a good starting point.

But remember I run dual motors on my tail

Please tell me if this is normal.

I hold the heli in my hand and throttle up, when i give it forward elevator the blades and fly bar paddle pitch forward but at the same time it tilts to the left. When I give it back elevator it tilts back and to the right.

someone give me some advice on wether this is normal or not.

when i give control inputs without the motor engaged (plugged in) the servos seem to be operating properly.

My swash plate looks very level through out the pitch function (negative and positive)

If anyone is in Utah I would love to have them look this over and see if I have everything set up right.

These look like the same ones they sent me.

I would be interested to see if someone else can get the "Spektrum DX6 CP Pro setup direct from the manufacturer" to work.

They did not work well for me at all as the servos would bind with pitch and the heli was quite sluggish.

Have Fun!
Heli Harry, YOU are the MAN... I first tried the manufacturer's settings, and like you've said, it's sluggish, bind with pitch, and hard to control. It was ok, but I found the dx6 very hard to control compared to the stock cp pro controller that I was starting to get used to. I'm still new, just trying to get comfy with ff.

Then I tried your setup, and man it's night and day. I used your settings exactly, and just trimmed it and it was perfect. It handles great, I got used to the way it feels in just a few minutes, less twitchy than the stock setup, but still has the agility. This is the first time that I've been able to go through an entire battery pack without landing or crashing.... man it's quite a refreshing change not having to fix or fork out more money to replace parts!

Just wanted to say a big thanks for posting your settings!!!!

Thanks
