Default head speed on CP Pro

I have the Blade CP Pro, for the up grade E-Flite wants you to us the Park 370/ 4100KV,useing the 9tooth, 3s pack ect.... all comes out to about 2400-2800 head speed(I THINK IT WAS 2879) I have a Himaxx 2015-5400KV will this work or is it to much? if it to much is anybody willing to do a flat out trade (the 2015-5400 has not been in a plane or heli- it new) and where can I get a UH-60 Blackhawk Fuse.

Thanx Mark

Just for purposes of accuracy, Horizon recommends the use of an 8 tooth with the E-Flite 4100. I have one. Works great. What's the headspeed? GNFI. Care even less.

use an 8T pinion....I think you will find that with the 8T pinion you will get more headspeed. I have the eflite 4100kv brushless and I get more headspeed with my 8T pinion. My guess is with your 9T your not getting enough torque. Using the 8T will get you more torque so you can hold that higher RPM easier.

I understand the E-Flite recommends an 8tooth for the 4100kv, i have an 5400kv, if i use an 8-9-10 tooth, the head speed is still going to be more than what they recommend. With the 5400kv the head speed will be out of this world. what is the advantage or disadvantage of the high kv and is this to much.

THANX Mark

the higher the kv the less torque your going to have.....so if your using a higher kv you will only want to use a 7 or 8T pinion to get enough torque.

Thanks Jent, so what your saying is its best to go with a lower kv rating. now im not looking to do 3D flying. Im to old I cant think that fast anymore. now with a higher kv and a lower tooth will the head speed still be way up there but ill have good torque. OK im starting to confuse my self. WILL IT BE BETTER TO USE THE 4100kv MOTOR????

Thank mark

Do you know anybody who will trade a Himaxx 2015-5400 for a E-Flite 4100kv

Just use the 4100kv with an 8tooth pinion,,,,thats whats recomended and thats what I have, I can tell you now you will be quite pleased with the extra headspeed as well as the extra power.

Tower hobbies has the 8t with set screw. This fits a 2.3mm shaft. $4.49.

eflight makes 2mm press on 8T pinions that fit out beloved motors. 5400kV is too hot; you'd probably need a 6T or something, and that might still be too tall. also, if you had a programmable tx to reduce the headspeed electronically, you'd probably lack rpm and the motor would be very inefficient. even with 4100kV and 8T, my motors rpm barely reaches the sweet spot.

imho, i'd keep looking at trading for a 4100kV.

Yea.....you can get an 8T pinion from horizon hobby as well.

One thing I forgot is that even with the 4100kv and an 8T you get soo much headspeed that if you have any lose links they will pop off and you will lose all your pitch in flight. It has happened to me twice, since then I have toned down my throttle curve and have replaced the links. Just something to keep in mind.

jent, i believe you have a futaba 7c right? i'm just curious to see if your bl motor will stall when applying full pitch. so can you please do a favour for me? go to swash and set PIT to 35, that way, there'll be max pitch travel and no binding. take it out to a huge space, jam on full throttle and see if it stalls... fell free to reject though... because now with the stock motor it REALLY stalls. today, when i was out flying, i did a dive and pulled out at the last moment, but then to my surprise, the motor stalled so badly that it basically landed itself even with full throttle. i can actually count the main blades!!! so just out of curiousity, how much will a bl motor stall due to full pitch.
