Jeff Michael,
The Ember looks pretty cool, but with bad weather just around the corner, I’m going to hold off
on any more heli or plank purchases. (But you never know with me, I’m an impulse buyer)

I will spring for a couple of the 3.7 volt 110 mAh batteries to get me through the winter. I see you
got yours at Hobby Headquaters, must be your favorite place, I remember you posting other
pictures of parts from there. And the price $10.99 must be controlled by E-flite. Every site I’ve
looked, it’s that price, nothing higher, nothing lower. I’ll just eat lunch every other day for a
week or so and order 2 of them. LMAO!

I still need to order a prop for the Vapor, it’s been grounded for awhile, since I’ll be getting a
couple tiny batteries, I’ll get the prop too. And do a couple of your mods to lighten it up.

Good idea with the zip tie on the motor mount, a splash of black paint and you’d never know it
was there. Try a black magic marker.

As far as moving to the inner hole on the servo, duhh, never crossed my mind, but know that you
mention it, I will. And you’re absolutely right, for the price, they are a ton of fun, tough as nails
and there agility is awesome.

Oh, and I haven’t forgotten, that you haven’t forgotten about the DSM2 TX. Thanks. This hobby
is like a brother hood, guess that’s why Rick came up with the BOB’s.

You’re doing grand, I keep telling ya, never under estimate your ability.

Well, I’m off to see what’s going on a get back to some others,

Later my friend,

Dave

Mikey,

I posted earlier and Jay rementioned the dowel rod to push it out. It looks pretty bad, but I just had another brain storm.

Along with the dowel rod, add heat, either with a micro torche or blow torche. I watch the guys in the Body Shop at work, use heat all the time to straighten metal things up. It will probably end up discolored, but you could always spray paint it pink.

Nice flying field ya got there, great pictures.

Dave

Jim,

Glad things went well for you today with no adverse effects. Sounds like you had some great flights. Hope it was the TX batteries, that's an easy fix.

Later,

John,

Jeff knows I was kidding on the lunch thing. But if I did that, I would be able to lose the 10 pounds I need to.
As far as these kids go, for now there doing fine and dandy, but there time will come. LMAO too![sm=tongue_smile.gif]
I miss the good old days, back in the 40's and 50's, my old Mafia days.

Oh, and I opted not to go on Social Security at this time, to many penalties. That sucks, cuz it's my money I'd been giving them for the last 49 years.

Hey Mikey,

I got in late but it sounds like you are tring to strighten that boom? If so this is how I did it much like Dave said but with a little twist!

I got a piece of steel rod 1/8" under size of the boom. I slipped the boom over it and let it rest on two 2x4 blocks of wood. With the boom larger in diameter than the steel rod it will sag at the bootom so to speak. Then with a light (small) hammer I make ready. I turn the dented boom up around steel rod so the dent is facing up then I slowly start pounding the dent out. Remember the rod is on the blocks. the boom is in between. Now I forgot what heli your working on BUT if it is belt driven (happened to me) if the dent is to bad then it will NOT BE SMOOTH inside even after you are done. Once I got a burr inside and it wanted to eat my belt so do becareful. I have seen your dent and she is a good one but at least give this a try.

Good Luck

JPEE -

yeah the wind kept me grounded most of the day, but it started to lighten up around the afternoon/early evening and I was able to get a couple flights in. Yep even took the VAPOR out. Gots to love that little plane, but I should have keep her grounded... needless to say these little planes are TOUGH, but NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE!

seems both my VAPORS are down for repairs,

OUCH....! Another thing I did to my Vapors before even taking flight was for the wing portions where the plastic Mylar attaches to the frame of the wing, I attached very tiny pieces of scotch tape periodically and evenly around the whole frames of all the wings so that it attaches the Mylar to the frame with added support and stability... The Mylar is very tough stuff, but the connection between the Mylar and the frames is the weakpoint as you can see in your rear-tail rudder pic where the Mylar is totally off from the frame... YIKES... This makes it almost indestructible then for the wings...

On your next replacement wing or rudder for that matter, you may try this... I've crashed in a lot of these thick pokey dry branches here in Cali with no damage from the wings with the tiny tape method.... Some have Ca'd a bead around the Mylar and frames, but the flexibility of the tape, and its purpose I believe would be better than CA...

Better luck next time.... CA that motor mount, even with the new one coming, and for extra maybe fashion up a additional brace to help support that weak area also... A tiny ziptie works great, but on a stock Vapor set-up, watch the weight and CG as I did things to compensate for that ziptie band-aid....

Take care Jer, (how bout that 600 E video.....?!)

LookYJ

Where do you fly from?

I often fly my Heli's from NR Park.

I used to fly at Winnetka Park, that was great and there were several guys there too even on week days. Guys would pull up and fly one pack and then go to work so as to have had their fix so to speak. The best place I fly is at the Soccer Fields on Balboa just North of Burbank Blvd. Heck there are tons of acres free of anything, thats where I take my plane and Heli's.

I you have a place closer please let me know. But I would doubt it as I have driven streets, checked parks, construction sites looking for that close and easy place.

Jim ~

Funny you said that about the B-400.... As I stared at it again for the longest time at the LHS....! For $279.00 for a BNF, its hard not to ! One thing that impresses me with the 400 is the power to weight ratio by far.... They sound like a V-8 up in the sky ! I do see myself getting one in time though... I do have 3 cyclic servos I could put in it after I strip the stock cyclic servos as I took those JR DS285 MG's out of my Trex and put in the HS-65MG's... The JR digitals had a much faster speed, and being digital they were 'overqualified' for my learning curve, so I like the HS-65's better for now as they are a little more friendlier and not so quick on the cyclic stick for me for the moment....

Yeah I'll post a vid as soon as I can.... Waiting for the wind to die down currently.... I need it at least to drop to be able to even fly this lightweight thing.... Hmmmmm.... But I still may try.......

Take care Jim,

Jeff Michael,

You are a wild and crazy kinda guy, aren't ya. Doing the Soloboss mod to the flybar, before you even charged the batteries.[X(] I've had my MCX for 3 weeks now and love that little rascal.. NO MODS though, yet.

Good luck outside, make sure the wind isn't gusty at all. You can blow on the thing in flight, and it'll move 2 or 3 inches. It's so stable and predictable in flight, I really think that it helps with hand-eye coordinations and orientation practice. Try practicing your right hand turns with it. Left piros are amazingly fast and it stops on a dime, right piros are much slower, but that is inherent with coaxials.

Be good,
Dave

Gettin' ready to launch her to the moon....!...LMAO... No, actually there's stil a tiddy little bit of a breeze, but it comes and goes.... I'am goin' for it ! She's been itching to get a sense of fresh air outside anyway..... Hey.... I caught her earlier snuggling up with daddy, so I took a picture as I thought it was the cutest thing..................

I'll post a video later....

Can you say rocket ship[X(] MORE POWER! I love it

What's the Soloboss mod to the MCX? I loved the way the little rascal flew at the LHS. I found it was much faster in reverse, you could kinda get a micro funnel going[8D]

I knew you would leave that 500 in the box Great size contrasting shot!

Blessings my Friend!

Jeff Michael,

I knew you couldn't resist the MXC, it's in your blood. Great shot of baby MCX and Daddy.. If you are real careful, you could probably hover the MXC in the Logo canopy. Waiting for the video, but know the wind can be a problem with a 26 gram heli.
They are a blast. I've been procrastinating as usual, but will order some more 110 mAh batteries and prop for the Vapor tonight, I promise.

Oh and BTW, I cracked your code, it was simple with the accrued knowledge working with the FBI and CIA guys for years. Here's a picture you didn't post of all the fiberglass things made by your family. Gotta be carefull, big brother and Dave are watching. LMAO

You currently have 94 images in the file.[sm=47_47.gif][sm=47_47.gif][sm=wink_smile.gif]

Your going a little wack-o, but I love it,

Dave

Jay ~

The Soloboss flybar mod is just cutting the flybar shorter for improved performance for forward flight, with the expense of stability, and less mass for one of the motors to spin as it helps reduce the load a bit... Great for a coaxial, as they kinda lack the forward motion as there more for holding a good hover. It was surprising on the MCX, as I didn't lose any stability with the shorter flybar as it still holds the hands off hover with the TX laid down on the floor....

Yeah I'am hoping the Align motor will work... It should be fine... And it weighs 10 grams less among that ! [8D]

You currently have 94 images in the file.

95 now......... LMAO... Hek, I didn't realize I have that many pics on the Photobucket site.... YIKES...!... You little snooper...! [8D][8D] Your more than welcome to snoop all ya want Chief....LOL... Yeah that statue is from the town of Grants Pass, Oregon... It was vandaized by some kids by fire, and the town was dissapointed from it being torched... Its a historical thing for the town, so my step-dad stepped in and repaired it with some fiberglass and re-painted it free of charge for the town... He loves working with that itchy stuff !

Well, I need to put together a video of the MCX now... It will be a bit, as my connection for the internet is slow, but I'll post it when I'am done... Its a fun little thing ! But the Vapor is funner ! And the Vapor only weighs 12 grams compared to the MCX which came in at 26 grams... And the Vapor can handle much more wind by far... 'A flying leaf' compared to the MCX which is more like a flying rock.... LMAO... But very cool though...!

Talk with ya guys later,

~ Jeff
