Geez, looks like some of you have grown money trees in the back yard! I'm out of the bidding for the 600 on the first round!

Dave, bummer about the MCX battery. Someone suggested contacting HH and I think you should. They have great CS from what I gather.

Jay-Dang, your CPP looked like you really have it dialed in. I remember getting good hovers from mine but not so good FF. The tail would just never hold. How is yours in FF?

Jeff- If it's too hot in Cali and your getting those tail warp send your heli's over to PA. I'm getting morning temps below freezing with lots of wind. The wind will blow the tails back to shape and the freezing temps will make sure they freeze that way. I'll send them back once I test fly them to make sure there are no vibrations! LMAO!!

Been too windy for any flying time here. Snow has arrived too. About 20 miles east of me they got over 6 inches on Tuesday. Outdoor flying season is nearly gone, just when I'm feeling I'm flying my best. I looked at the mCX in the LHS again today. I think my bride would have me nuts on a platter if I pulled the trigger on one just now. This is my slow time of year with my business and we watch our pennies a little closely here till the end of year. Maybe one of you can send me some seeds from those there money trees??!!

Jeff, thanks for the kind words, it does help. I pray the next time I'll be a little sharper with my skills.

Jim, I haven't tried FF sense polishing the shaft, ( that phrase cracks me up, I'm immature) and replacing the bad parts. I plan on making a tail fin for this Blade as well. I found that my Blades will hold true in a hover but the tail will wonder left in FF. The fin I made for the first one darn near cured those symptoms.

Blessings to All,

Jay

Great mod Jay! That was using the old noggin! I never would have dreamed of that.

Guess I'm immature too cuz I nearly spit out my beer when I read "polishing the shaft"! You are priceless Dave!

Dave ~

That's crazy bad luck there with the MCX batts...! Send them back to Horizon, or at least the one that died... Maybe they'll replace it. As you've seen over at the MCX thread a guy who runs a hobby shop ordered a whole bunch of those little 110 Mah's, and every one was faulty... Horizon told him to send them back as they had a bad batch of of em' that got shipped out to various sources and such... I believe they didn't fit also in the charger...

The stock charger for the MCX charges the 110 mah lipo's at 0.3 amps... As you know, that's exceeding the 1 'c' rating that a lipo should be safely charged at for longetivity of the batt, and safety concerns also... They have it charging at 3 'c'...YIKES... Makes ya wonder why they did that eh?! Maybe job security for fellers having to buy more batteries sooner !...LOL...! I charge my 110 mah lipo on my Accu-Cycle at 0.1 amps..... That safely doesn't exceed the 1 'c' rating of any lipo battery... If I even tried to charge it higher, to like 0.2, or 0.3, my charger has safety features built into it that won't let you charge it that high, and emits a high audible alert and states on the digital display, that the charge exceeds that of a safe charge for the 1-cell lipo... It may take a bit longer, but seperately the charger will charge two at a time, with seperate charge rates, or different batts for that matter...

That feller from Fort Wayne was flippin' ya some more hog wash over in the struggling thread.... Ya better go check it out.... LMAO....!...

Next week is going to be Trex 500 week.... I'am going to start the build so I can add the heli to the collection... Trying to squeeze out as much joy with the MCX as much as possible until then....

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Hey guys don't have one of those little fellows yet hope to get one someday but i was reading some where that you could open the case on the stock charger and turn the pot and change the charge rate. mikey

Yeah these little MCX's are a hoot....! I don't use the RTF charger anymore, but use my higher end chargers for charging the batt....

Here's me last night slamming the little MCX around the small living room of the guest house I'am staying at... I did clear an area, and had to move some of the crap down the 17 steps and to the bedroom....LMAO... But away she flew !

Well done Jeff! I like when you got it close to your Vapor that the Vapor started shaking, almost like it wanted to play too.
Now that would be cool to see. You flying the vapor in that room and maybe your dad flying the mCX at the same time!

Wow Jeff, your Mcx is 10 times zippier than the stock one I flew at the LHS. Is that due to the mods or does flying it on a DX7 make a big difference? Very cool[8D]

Jer, you don't need to sell your stuff, just get more heli's to put all of that stuff to use

I flew the HBKII today in some stiff winds. The gyro problem I had was because I plugged in the yellow wire. Dave tipped me off to leave it out, I have no use for standard mode anyway. Now off to the cave to fab up a tail for my Pro

God Bless Y'all and have a great weekend!

Jay

BTW... I still fly planks showing again that I still haven't fully evolved and very immature

Hey All,

I'm back from the "Cave" .......Muh Hah hah Hah haa. Happy Halloween Y'all

I took some pictures of how I did the tail mod. I had some 3mm depron so that's what I used. I imagine blister pack plastics would work just as good. The material is trivial, just make it light and make it work I put the main fin on first with packing tape. Then I cut the down force wing and side force wing. The Blade wants to balloon in FF so you want it to pull the tail up. The Blade also wants to yaw nose right so I put about 45 degrees of wing in to compensate for it. Last I install very light carbon fiber rods to support the assembly. In the end it looks really dorky but I always say that performance out ways looks. I'm glad my wife feels the same way

God Bless All!

Jay

Jay ~

For the MCX its a little bit of the DX-7 I suppose and the mods that help give it that little more pep to her. Also, nice fin for the CP ! Yeah I'am a firm believer in performance comes first, looks come second.... We definately need a video... I miss some of the CP/CPP videos that used to be out there... Once I ever get an extra AR6100 RX, I'll put it in one of my CPP's someday... Right now I'am not to hip on the glitching, and don't care to spend the money on parts from a crash that are out of my control... They both sit fully ready for flight though...

Lookyj ~

Geez, I guess ya got a few extra trinkits laying around ! If I could find a few extra bucks laying around, I'd be all over everything ! Hek.... I remember the last picture I saved of your fleet (Of Heli's that is) and I would have to agree you got a full house of aircraft and parts ! I remember telling you even last year that ya probably had enough lipo's to blow Northridge to the sky.... LMAO... Yeah your pic is below... It always amazed me, and thought nobody was as addicted as I was until I started to realize you were also... [8D] What are you trying to sell the 600 for ? Why is it all apart ? You prefer the 450 size more maybe ? I was really thinking about it... If I didn't just blow $400.00 at the LHS today, I was going to use that toward it...LOL... But at least I have everything I need for the Trex 500 to get it ready for flight... I may still wait on some aftermarket stuff before I do build it... Or just build it stock, weigh everything, fly it, get to know it a bit and then dump some serious green on her... Not sure yet...

Take care guys,

~ Jeff

Jeremy's beloved fleet : (YIKES).....How much for the fleet...?!... $10,000...?!

Looky can darn near start his own hobby shop with that fleet and all those parts!

Call it Lookys of L.A.!

I think I'll get to the field first thing tomorrow morning. Weather looks good and the camera batteries are charging. Will be a bit cold but winds will be down below 5MPH.

Hey Jeff-did you try the flip yet?

WARNING..... Put on your sense of humor cap on....!

I figured since nobody knew that we dressed up for halloween, I'd thought I would slip them the news.... Unfortunately I got the raw end of the deal on the costume, and was stuck in the Paris Hilton attire... Go figure.... I wanted yours, but your bigger than me, so I didn't have much of a fighting chance... Plus I guess seniority took into play I suppose.... But hey.... Next year I get the 'cool' outfit...!

We don't look that bad in long hair eh ?!

No flip yet.... I have to pick up another AR6100 for the 450, as I noticed last weekend on Sunday morning doing a pre-flight that one of the two little antenna's on the RX had decided to dissapear....LOL... Who knows how long I've been flying with one antenna (SP).. But I would have noticed, so I believe it was the last flight on last Saturday... I could take the one out of my Typhoon for now I suppose... I was going to pick up an AR6100 at the LHS today, but they were out... I did pick up an AR7000 though for the 500. Thank goodness they had that...

Get a video of tommorow if ya can however.... [8D]

Take care,

I will certainly try to get some video of this Pro up some with the latest tail mod. It should be pretty close. The original one I did for my CP was right on. I would push the stick forward and the wind would do the rest to keep things in line. The CP was my most flown and worked on heli until the HBKII. I hardly fly my Rex because of the $$ factor. I feel that flying the Rex is like taking the classic car out on Sundays..... you enjoy every moment but you just don't do anything stupid.

Jim, have a great time tomorrow. We're not going to get to many more days like these

JPEE, I will try to get a vid this weekend.... the weather is looking great. I might even try a loop or two if I feel confident enough

Jeff or should I say Paris....you crack me up with your computer skills. Good stuff[8D]

God Bless Y'all!

Jay

BTW my newest puppy/dog chewed up the Pro's canopy[:@] I need to keep a closer eye on him. So far he's just chewed up shoes but this latest surge towards my hobby has his life in jeopardy. JK but doors will be closed to him now

Pictures of this mornings adventures. I'll get a video up later. Damage report on visual inspection shows a flybar is needed, new blades, main shaft, feathering shaft, and main gear with one way bearing. I need to check servo's yet. I'll detail the incident once I get the video up.

Ouch...! Sorry to hear about the crash.... But as we know, crashing is a part of learning.... YIKES... The one reason, I know I'am not ready to try any of that crazy stuff yet... I should try and talk JPEE in letting me try some inverted moves or a loop maybe with one of his B-400's... I don't wanna wreck mine....LMAO...! LOL... Hek.... What are friends for anyhow....?! I'll be waiting for a video. Its always a great tool to watch a video after a crash or bad flight, as you can learn a lot from it watching it over and over again....

GLOW mCX update -

I bought the mCX and converted to glow parts for a buddy of mine. Well it turns out the GLOW PARTS are not as durable as the stock parts.

after one day of flying the mCX, several parts ended up breaking; a couple BLADES and LANDING SKIDS.

So it seems the GLOW PARTS are definately BLING!

it's a shame because they look pretty sweet flying around at night.

Hey Lookyj,
Sometime ago while at CSUN a salesman gave me a can of a clear glow in the dark spray. It is used for spraying arrows and exits signs in hallways should the power go off so people can find their way out. I was thinking it might work to spray on a heli canopy and other heli parts. If you want to try it I'll loan you the can and see what you come with?

SCARED MYSELF to death, just now
and I have to ask a QUESTION :

have been having undetermined problems charging two batts. that came provided with the 2nd TREX
had to use ZERO LOSS connectors from AstroFlight . Worked what looks like a great soldering job, plugged
them in, and the TEJERA CHARGER does not seem to want to work on them.
Thinking there must still be "some" charge left, started up a TREX ......absolutely NO AIR MOVEMENT TODAY, so out to the driveway.
Great soft start, spooled up, lifted and "big drift" backwards, caught on time, landed on the grass, upright.
again, this time spooled up smooth, got a great liftoff and stayed in sustained flight for maybe 6 or 7 minutes.
at 7mins. flight, and at eye level ( 6 ft.) from a steady firm hover, TREX starts PIROUETTING, fast, to the left. At the 4th. spin I caught on,
stopped the spinning using the left stick on the transmitter , throttled down to medium and slowed it down and landed VERY SOFT.

THE QUESTION IS : is this a normal and expected indication that the battery went LOW ?

I ask because of the batts.' problem, but WONDER if there is something ELSE that needs to be known about this situation. The flight
of the TREX was rock SOLID, no drift, solid as a ROCK

PUZZLED : RICK ......[&o]

Well that's good to know about the glow in the dark stuff..... I had no idea... I thought if I did get that stuff, I would cover that little l.e.d. light on the esc board, as that thing makes the whole canopy glow, and might take away from the glow in the dark stuff's 'cool' factor... Hek... I just may anyway, even without the glow stuff...

Geez........ 200 miles north from you and JPEE the wind is hitting harder than crap ! On the mountain here it gets major fierce... Hope the internet connection holds... We run off a digital putty system, 2.4 ghz that has a little satellite by the house that beams up to the top of the mountains way far away to pick up our internet connection... Whenever the wind, hits hard it usually fails for a day or so... Sometimes rain, humidity or other elements also... Its starting to rain right now.... I haven't been able to fly anything except indoor stuff... The Vapors are just to big for this small guest house living room. But the MCX rocks in it !

Yeah..... You should get that glow spray from JPEE and try it out.... Maybe spray the neighbors cat or something.... LMAO.... (Kidding of course)...

Cheers,

~ Jeff
