hey guys....checking in. Feeling not to great lately, could be weather, not doing much. Did do one outside flight in the back yard yesterday with zero wind and 30deg.....that condition is gone, lots of wind today. It was a good uneventful flight around some snowbanks and such...did a little sliding on the ice too just for fun with it.

Hey fellas,

Vic, hope you're feeling better soon.

JPEE, I'm in a holding pattern right now, from buying anything. There's so much out there and by the time you get the new heli or plank that's out there, order it, fly it twice. A new one is already out there. It's a conspiracy, I swear.. All they want is my money, OH and your's too. Lol ! I'd bet that all the guys on the 3 major threads, have broken over 1,000 sets of blades. And I'm in there for 10 percent already.

Nothing going on at the Chopper Dungeon... Just getting some snow, about 4 inches. Sissy snow if ya ask me.

He's right.....sissy snow, that's about a dusting so far. I wouldn't even start my tractor for that...isn't worth the gas. Thanks JPEE, me too, hope this passes. I hope everyone is doing well...Jay/Jim/Rick, all you guys. Come next month, we should see some days to hit the field with the planes....I'm gonna be RUSTY.

hey Mr. VIC ;

now it's ME cheering you up ! (?)
well, you got the Mid-Winter doldrums.
I hope you pull out quick and get your
ole sparky self back.
I am looking around for some help to finish
up the CAMEL. The installation of the electric
motor just gummed up the works and I don't
see a viable solution. Have just NOW found a
long THREAD regarding this plane and some
help may be coming from those folks. Imagine
this: this thread began back in 2006...it is even
older than our Whheeee thread !!!! they ALL
AGREE that this ARF is a great plane to fly.
But I already knew that, because I built the
Camel from the VK kit back in 1974 - and the
plane is STILL around.
OK . get better...... best regards to the Mrs. and
the family group, including the tiny CHI - HUA - HUA

Rick...I hope you get your problems resolved with this plane. Me....it's not mid-winter crud so much as a parade of fronts comming through and driving both the wife and I nuts with pains etc. A low front for me means breathing probs, for the wife....her bad sholder incapacitates her. The "Taco-Bell" dog "Sandie" is spoiled as ever and doing fine and has a surgery appointment so she can't have puppies....as are all our animals, they live longer that way.[X(]

Good to see you checking in, Vic! Hope those fronts pass you soon so you and the wife get to feeling better.

Dave- We are further north than you yet you've got more snow than me. We are right on the border with this latest storm. If it traveled a 100 miles further north I'd be loking at 16-24". Was actually hoping we got hit with it, one good snow storm a year is great for me and the kids!

JPEE any place for some indoor flying with the micros you and your friend have? Can't believe the amount of rain you've been getting there.[:'(]

I managed to sneak one flight in with the 109 today. About 4 minutes in she was coming across the field and I rolled her inverted down pretty low. About 5 feet off the ground I see a part come flying off[X(]. Thinking she lost a vertical stab for some reason I expectd to see her go right in. Quickly added full down elevator and rolled back to upright about 10 feet off the ground. Hmmm......... I still have control. That's when it hit me, the canopy flew off and not the stab Completed the pattern and landed safely without incident. The guy at the LHS had the same thing happen to him. I'll be adding a "T" pin before its next flight. Also need to do something to minimize the scoop damage from the belly landings, she is starting to get really beat up.

Rick= Is your PC back up 100 % now? Hope so, always enjoy your posts (and that last e-mail ya sent too!).

Did you ever look into the standoffs for the motor we suggested? Exactly what is happening, is the motor shaft to short to clear the cowl? Have you got your new bladeSR yet? I hear Vic is wishing he had some more E-flite helis

Ha! Jim, glad it was the canopy and nothing worse!

Dave,
Pretty pictures[8D] I like the one that shows Our Flag!

Vic,
I hope we get out of this pattern soon. It seems like a permacloud has constantly blanketed us[:'(] I like a little sun no matter how cold it is. I have to get out and fill the bird feeders this weekend. I think I'll put my gloves on

BTW, I just had the time out thing. Looks like RCU wouldn't fix it

Blessings,

Hello Jim,
No I don't have any indoor flying areas because generally Cali is sunny. We ( buddy and I ) can fly the CX2s and the MCXs in the garage with the cars parked outside as I have 840 sq ft in there so we can do battle with the small fliers.
Really glad you got your plane down in one piece (less the cano). You are both a great pilot and have good luck to boot!
Hey Jim.................I have an extra DX6i I don't need if Vic wants it to go with his new Horizon plank. Now.......if he wasn't already sick! he will be now! ! !

OK JPEE- I'll send Vic my Blade 400 and you send him your DX6I. He will be pulling his hair out for months!!! LMAO!

Love your honesty Vic!!!

Yep, seems RC has ben having issues today. Maybe it's storm related, who knows! BTW, I "copy" each post I make to my clipboard just in case of a time out. Saves me the trouble of retyping.

RCU / Moderator guys,

I just typed in a short post, about 5 minutes or so and got timed out AGAIN. I'm so mad right now I can't see straight.. If it wasn't for the guys on this thread, I'd be taking my business elsewhere.

Can't you refer this problem to your programmers to correct.. Can't be that hard. I programmed for many years. This is not Rocket Science here.
This is the only site, I've ever been timed out.

Hey Guys,

The old one here is getting tired, I'll catch up tomorrow. I was so mad when I got TIMED OUT. You shouldn't have to make a copy, IN CASE you get timed out. This is the only Forum that this happens. Sounds like a UPPER MANAGEMENT problem and/or a budget problem.... YIKES! Double and Triple YIKES!

A good SATURDAY report :
The lady friend came around to fix up my house and literally ORDERED me to go "play" with my planes so she could get ON with the chores. YIPEEEE ! so I pack up the T-34 and the INNOVATOR EXP heli, and drive 42 miles to the Municipal RC airport/Park provided by the city of Houston, Dick Scobee RC airport. With a dog-sitter in the house, I am spared the dog who is a bit of a nuisance.
I arrive and see from the distance there must be at least 50 or 60cars and just a few parking slots open. Wind is about 10mph (gusting), not one cloud in the sky and 60F...great flying weather. I very seldom go there because it's far, today I am greeted and recognized by 3 or 4 flyers, makes me feel great. I am pushed to fly the T-34 which they claim looks "good". So I take it to the runway, line up into the breeze and roll it for about 100foot . When I apply elevator input, just the slightest touch ! the plane rotates from a flat natural lift-off into a 45+ degrees climb !!!!!! GWWARRSSHH ! way too much elevator; at about 50foot in the air : THE WHOLE TOP OF THE PLANE ( the canopy ! ) blows clear OFF.... so I input right rudder only, straighten the plane for level flight, now flying downwind I have a galloping wild horse, turbulence is probably taking control. Fly into a base leg, then final, save about 14induced stalls from the "modified" fuse and finally make a very soft landing, rolling up to almost touch the fallen canopy on the ground> yuch ! back home: need to adjust / REDUCE the deflection on the elevator, also the AILERONS. Never got a chance to test the efficiency of the FLAPS, not yet. NEXT: I take the INNOVATOR EXP over to the heli pad where an Englishman (from his accent) is flying the 700NITRO FLYBARLESS. Boy, is he a WorldClass flyer ! ... like: flying backwards in giant size loops, the bottoms at 3ft off the grass with snapping/piros at each quarter...etc etc....so I start up a chat with this fellow, Brit. meeting Brit. so it goes well. I ask him to take the HELI up for a bit, since I have only HOVERED IT in my driveway. So he does that for me, gets it nicely trimmed out ( a bit of left "rudder" + "aileron" which he is saying may be just compensating for slight crosswind when the motor STOPS COLD, at eight feet up in the air>! crap: so the heli falls vertical onto the grass and only the left legs on the skids break. So now I KNOW that the heli is a great flyier, did not get to find out if it will be OK to invert itself into upside/down, but still. Sending off for a pair of skids, replacing them and will pay better attention to these funky TT batteries. Wonder WHAT caused it to shut down so suddenly.
All in all a great afternoon, SUN and fun, hanging out with ModelPlanes/helis was a great thing...... Have made arrangements with the Englishman for tomorrow : to take the RAPTOR and get it flying right. He recommends that I STICK with the RAPTOR and do nothing ELSE until I have enough RE-assurance in my flying to handle "different types" of helicopters. So : tomorrow will do the RAPTOR dance and report how it went. Batteries charging up, fuel in the bottle, GO GO GO
another stupid waste of y'alls time , reading all this JUNK.....but it was a GOOD DAY ! RICK the really old one, ha (but goodie)
I had the cancorder with me but did not use it. Shame, because the T/O on the T-34 would have been a good souvenir

LOL...Rick...that ain't boring...kinda funny really. I had a run in with some brit AV8B harrier pilots once...they were on my flight line, they follow MY rules. I think it was more the fact they were arrogant fighter pilots than the fact that they were british...so you jarred my memory of that incident. I see his point with the Raptor...he's looking to get you experienced and comfortable with rotary flight, and even the 450 isn't that stable of a platform, but the Raptor is.....he's a smart man, LISTEN to him. Fly the Raptor, forget all the other stuff until you can fly the Raptor in any orientation with confidence. He knows what he's talking about.

Rick,
Your stories are NEVER a waste of time. I wish you'd stop thinking that... all of us here love you stories, pictures and post no matter what it may be. You are very much loved here. I'm glad you got out to the field today and had some fun. That's crummy that the Innovator just stopped in mid-air. Fly that Raptor with confidence

Today I picked up my batteries from a friend,( we placed an order together from HK) and ended up coming home with an E-Flite BAE Hawk 15 ducted fan to build for my friend. It has a fiberglass fuse with balsa build up flying surfaces. I've so far done quite a bit. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of this little jet but the building style,( how they want you to put it together) is very different. Like Rick said about the CAMEL there is a lot left out for the novice builder and that's why my friend gave it to me to build. It should fly well once built though and my hands are busy[8D]

God Bless Everyone

Jay

Rick- If you ever STOP telling us your stories, I will come to Houston personally and make you sit down in front of your keyboard and TYPE till your fingers bleed! LOL! Please don't ever stop. Telling stories and sharing our successes and failures is WHAT we do here!

Jay- that looks like a nice airframe. What is the wingspan? Does it have a rudder? Was it an ARF or kir form?

Jim....I looked it up. It's glass and wood construction.....I feel nausiated.[X(] Looks to be ARF with several options including a motor/fan included, I think it might be a bank and yank setup, but not sure.

This is a yank and bank airframe, no rudder. Right now Horizon is selling it for $169.00 airframe with the motor, and Alpha fan. This fan unit is raved about... one of the best balanced systems. It's an incredible deal. I got the wings on it and servos set. I'll probably wrap it up tomorrow and give it back. I'm not charging my friend for the build but I may opt for the maiden on it It is a very good looking airframe although I prefer USA jets like F-16, F-18, ect.

BTW JPEE, I love the new signature. I doubt the moderators will ever see it though.

Blessings,

Jay
