Well done Steve! It's agreat feeling, isn't it? I'll bet it felt much lighter without the training gear. Keep at it, you will be doing nose in hovers before you know it!
Jay- That does sound like a great deal on it. Let us know how the maiden goes.

Jim,
I forgot to put that it has a 33.3" wingspan and a length of 35.4". It's a hair bigger than the PH-3 F-16 but way heavier. I think this one will require a lot more speed for landing.
Congrats Steve!
Blessings,
Jay

I "onceuponatime" had dreamt a bit about buying and building a KIT for a 5/8 size PIPER CUB J-3 - if I remember correctly the kits were manufactured and sold out of the state of Georgia.

WHILE WE WASTE OUR DOLLARS IN TINY TOTS TOYS, these Macho Men put their own backsides INSIDE and FLY .....

Jay,

Rick- quailty reading in those links you provided. I bookmarked 2 to look at when there's more time (read that as when the kids aren't around to disturb me!)
JPEE- Did you visit Vic and take a picture of his E-Fite blower??!! That looks like something he would use to chop up that "E-flite garbage"! LMAO!
Man, if that thing realy works you could do the whole neighborhood in less than 15 minutes!

JPEE...it needs to be radio controlled so you don't have to step out the door.
RICK...when I get hit in the head with a GOLD BRICK, I'll go to flight school and buy an Bell R-22.

Here is the skinny on this thing. And now for the rest of the story.... and YES this should have a RC radio a servos Eflite or Fatuba??? Vic.
If you're tired of anemic, one-lung snowblowers with their slipping drive belts, you migh t consider Kai Grundt's V8 snow blower which raises the bar on the traditional snow blower in every respect. With electric start, electric block heater, antifreeze heater and eight cylinders, it has no drive belts to freeze up and you'll never get bored with the job as the 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower, 430 foot pounds of torque and can throw snow 50 feet at just 3500 rpm. Nor will you get cold as the machine has been ingeniously designed to route the engine coolant through the handle bars, with the rear mounted, enclosed radiator keeping the operator nice and cozy.
Maneuvering the massive beast (it has a total wet weight of 912 lbs) is a breeze thanks to the hydraulic-drive 4WD skid steer on independent walking beams which offers a zero turning radius. It's also as fast as you like, with an infinitely adjustable speed range on the drive wheels via dash mounted flow control. At the opposite end of the scale, it has more than enough torque to pull your car out of the ditch before the hydraulic motors stall!
Adding to the well-balanced feel of the unit, just 15 pounds of down force on the handlebars will lift the auger blade off the ground in order to climb stairs/walkways for ease of snow removal. Safety has and continues to be paramount with spring return to centre "fail safe" type directional controls with emergency stop and tether cords.
Safety is one of the key theme, with a flashing blue light (as required by law in many areas) being the least of the safety features. No-one will fail to hear you with those twin throaty exhausts, which come standard with 92 decibels at the controls, though if the rumble of a V8 exhaust is music to your ears, you can obviously go much louder. Even at the standard baffling, hearing protection is strongly suggested.
The powerful yard machine lights and a dashboard with backlit gauges complete the package to ease the burden of this normally reviled task. The custom 42 inch, two stage auger has a Chevrolet 10 bolt truck differential with spool and a centrifugal auger clutch with shear pin protection, further adding to the image of this "automotive theme blower." As each unit is cutom-built, optional extras for the snow blower are both diverse and outrageous as the base unit - there is unlimited auger choices from single to multi stage designs and various motor combinations to suit the religious preferences of the customer (Chevy, Dodge Hemi, Ford) and such exotica as a V-10 or a diesel engine or remote starting can be accommodated.
And if, after a while, you feel you've outgrown the 400 horses, this particular engine is well catered for in the performance modification area, with Lunati camshaft, Milodon Gear drive, Holley and Edelbrock components to name a few, and there's always the fuel injection option too, if you feel you need to throw the snow out of the county or ensure your seat in the "neighborhood blower blingster hall of fame."

Rick,
Very neat finds! I have often dreamed about a buying light sport or even a kit Cub. I think God wants my feet planted on the ground although I watch others play
I'm not sure why but it has always been the case even though I love flight and love being in the air. It's funny that I excel flying from the ground, the same as you do.
Thanks for the links to the 2/3 Lightning. That is very neat and my dad will love it[8D]
JPEE,
that sucker would move some snow!
Dave,
That quite a white enema[X(]

I got ONE outdoor flight today. A little wind (5-8mph) which made it colder than it really was especially being on the shady side of the house. No incidents other than LVC kicked when I was 6" off the deck getting ready to end the flight...so she sat right down. Enjoyable flight even being a little cool outside.
Saints win.....I called that a few days ago.....so did Dave. I figured a much closer point spread (like by 3pts), but NO showed me what's up. I went to Navy recruiter school in New Orleans (85/86?) stayed in a motel right next to the stadium, and a few blocks from Burbon St. It's HOT, and it rains EVERY day at 5:00pm....a 20 minuet dumping of rain. Enjoyable month for sure.

Great winter helicopter weather today. I flew 4 flights in the big area of the yard...stall turns and such....no loops or flips, did some nose in. High in the upper 20's, a good sun, and no wind made it very comfortable to stay out for a while, so I did. Very enjoyable.......

That's awesome you can plow a heli pad for yourself! Walking out your back yard makes flying so much easier! Maybe someday for me.
We are looking at 4-10 inches here. Bring it on[8D] Me and the kids want to make some snow tunnels!

Haven't seen a snow tunnel since I was a kid. Grew up in Muskegon MI...right off lake Michigan. We got LOTS of snow all the time. When the road commission come thru, snow banks on the side the road averaged8-12ft high....we'd tunnel like a bunch of viet cong in that stuff.

Kyle,
One totally awesome flying video, with Nick Maxwell and the 700E.. (JPEE, ya gotta go for this one.)
Here's a video for ya, on an ALERTNESS test.. Keep this in mind with the helis, for sure (and your surroundings).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4
Nothing going on in the "Chopper Dungeon", I did get 1 pack in, out in the drive way though.
Zip wind, but pretty cold. 27 degrees, and the old fingers said, the heck with it. No mishaps.

I have goose bumps. While know that punk is souped up, I can't wair until a production 700E is ready. A big YES that I have one as soon as they hit the shelf. I have no intenstions of buying a nitro and making a conversion. I just want a store bought RTF Align or something close with parts availabilty
The wife and I watch the news every night and pray for you all back there living the toughest winter you've all seen in years. To 'all"
take care. The worst we have her is tons and tons of rain. We are on high ground, no fire damage close so we have no fear of mud or debris issues, we are safe, lest another big EARTHQUAKE which will come in it own time again. We have done two large ones here and if your prepared you can get through them, unless we break off and slip into the ocean. CRAP, now I just made myself a bit nervious...................[

Not much going on here in Indy... It's like 14 degrees and a little windy. Snowing a tad, last 3 days, maybe 6 inches of the white fluffy stuff is it.
A couple screen shots of the Phoenix simulator... B-17 and Ricks Camel... The B-17 is a joy to fly, so real it ain't funny.. The Camel, Bipe is a lot harder to fly. Back in the late 80's and early 90's when I flew planks. I never had the opportunity to fly a Bipe.. But logically, they would be harder. Seems to want to stall out pretty easy when trying to land.

Wow, nice video find Kyle. It's hard to tell but was he coming out of a dive to achieve that speed? It does appear he is straight and level when it comes across the screen, just not sure on the dive part. Impressive either way.
It may just be me, but at least twice he took his eyes off the heli to look at the radar guy. Didn't care for that part much. Yes he is Nick Maxwell but still not a good idea IMHO.
Hope everyone is doing well. We are just waiting on the snow to hit. Heaviest tomorrow morning/afternoon. School cancled already. May even sleep in tomorrow!

CHOPPERS, you snowbound-non flying half frozen GENIUS.
since you challenge, mentioning " rick's CAMEL" with a photo
how about some FLYING of same model.
I did a "quickie" flight just for you
uuuhhh

http://vimeo.com/9341654
well, for good measure, being in the HELI AREA how about a short demo with the RAPTOR
complete with one badly executed AUTOROTATION that lands too close and hits the fence
SHAME ON ME [&o] hadn't flown Raptor for a while, flight is not SMOOTH as I like it to be.
http://vimeo.com/9350472 please click on the little flower right/bottom makes FULL SCREEN
RICK a.k.a. the USELESS OLE PHARTT IN THE SOUTH[&o]
[&o] I ALSO UPDATE YOUR FILE PICTURE OF MY "2 plane project" to the 2nd stage project
BIGGER IS BETTER !
