J-MICHAEL,
Thanks much. Exactly what I was looking for.
NEW PROBLEM though. ELE on the CX2 does not work either. Just like the B400. I went to monitor screen and I have a very small window of movement on the right side of the graph for ELE. It mimics exactly what the servo is doing. Almost full extension in one direction with just a small range of movement.
Is my TX jacked? Did I mess something up?

But to get ya started, here's a link with some good info for ya. In fact, save it as there is more info on that site also... (The B-400 Bible)

Here is a picture of the Monitor screen.

On mine, the ELE indicator is jacked to the left with the B400 selected and to the right with the CX2 selected. Running the ELE stick through the full range of travel moves the indicator about half a segment in the scale. AIL, THR and RUD all move nearly the full scale (all six segments).

ARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGggggggggggggggg
It is the TX for sure!!!
I looked at every option I have to adjust for both the B400 and the CX2 I have programmed in the DX6i and everything looked fine. Double checked the "monitor" screen and both are having issues. I decided to go to "model 3" and see what the ELE looked like on the monitor. It was PERFECT. Centered, full range of travel!! I switched back to the CX2 and now IT was PERFECT!!
I changed NOTHING and it straightened its self out.
WHY AM I HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH THESE DAMN HELICOPTERS?!!???!!????

I was explaining to the GF what was happening and showing her on the monitor screen and went to model 3 and the THROTTLE was now having issues. It was starting from 50% and going to 100% only. This could have been VERY BAD had it happened during a flight. I swapped back to model 2 and back again to model 3 and the throttle fixed itself.

I don't know nuthin' about the DX6i, but I've sure run into that type of stuff before and it usually ended up being me. I missed something in the setup. Usually there is a step that requires that you ENTER or SET or something to enter the program into memory. If that step is missed the program may be trying to copy some other program and every time you changed modes or programs the on-screen information changed.
I just went through that yesterday in my ongoing education. I'm learning new capabilities in my CAD software and man was I struggling. All I'm saying is that every time it looked like the the instruction writer was just nuts, I found that I misread the instructions.
If the odd results of the DX6i were repeatable, I'd agree that the Tx is broken. But it's random. Makes ya wonder. I'm hoping that today is a better day for you because I really want to believe in the DX6i. I know I need one. Every horror story helps me justify not spending the money.
Good luck - and have a piece of pie, then try it again.

Hi guys
Newbie - never flown anything before - 25 years ago raced 1/12th electric at European standard, but didn't leave the ground.
Just bought a CX3 and DX6i ...... hmm
Can't get the trims set correctly. Read loads of forums & advice
Set at neutral (Helicopter setting) it flies backwards and right.
To get the heli to go straight - both trims st nearly full left & back.
VERY unstable - have played with the sim - that's OK ...
Must be missing something for it to be SO unstable
broken front & rear skids so far.
any clues please??

OldFart,
I'm also a newbie. This excerpt from RCHelicopterFun helped me a lot with my CX3. The author of the site has been a huge help to me and my Blade and CX3. I spent all day on his site and bought two of his E-books.
(For CX3 only)
"<font color="#ff0000">MAKE SURE YOU RESET YOUR TRIM BACK TO NEUTRAL BEFORE THE NEXT FLIGHT.</font><font color="#000000"> If you don't, the heading lock gyro will see your left trim as the neutral position when you power up the CX3 and once again you give a couple more clicks to the left during the flight to compensate for the right drift. In a few flights if you never center your tail trim, you will have your trim all the way to the left with no more adjustment range possible. If you are using a computerized radio, ensure subtrim is also zeroed out."
If you're chasing your tail with trim as I was, this will fix it. What I thought was a bum servo was only poor settings on my Tx.
Iwas also on Horizons website and they recommended setting the Aile, Elev, and Rudd in the "Travel Adj" window to 125%. I am back to totally stable flight.
Enjoy.....

I learned something new today from E-Flite. Iwas gettting really bad left drift and was pointed towards the swash plate to ensure levelness. I'm working on that now. I asked why only one servo arm moved when cycling the Aieleron and he said that was normal. Ihave to wonder why two servo's then. More interesting, he also suggested (when using DX6i), to fly it in Aircraft mode. Test flights in AC mode and tamer settings from RCHelicopterFun seemed to work well. Now on to the swash plate.(It does look out of whack) I'llkeep you posted....

OK. I answered my own dumb question about the second servo. My swash plate was definately unlevel. I did come up with a good trick though. I disassembled the heli to remove the body and re-attached the lower blades. I then used a spare (new) B400 flybar and balanced that on my CX3 swash plate with the blade pointed both foward/aft and side/side. I would make an adjustment to the servo arms, move the stick all around on the DX6i, and remeasure. More to follow....

The CX, CX-2 and CX-3 and mCX (I have all four) function like airplanes, not collective pitch helicopters.
Right-left stick is aileron, fore and aft is elevator.
There is no collective.
Nor a need to set up any helicopter mode on the transmitter.
A level swash plate, and the subtrims at zero should be all that anyone needs to fly these things.
