CP Pro 2

Doug,
Yeah, I have seen that bulletin from Spektrum/Horizon, mine (I have 2 DX6i's) were not affected, I didn't have any date codes on either radio, and they passed the monitor test...
I think that mostly applies to relatively new units, mine are just under a year old, so I think I'm OK there...hope yours check good too.
I just checked my gyro settings on my CPP which I was flying on Saturday (well, trying anyways, high wind gusts and CPP's don't get along too welll, lol), and the tail was holding well, but I had some tail wag at a a gyro setting of 85%...
It has been since mid-summer since I last flew it, so I don't know why I had it that high, I could probably do well to reduce it until the wag goes away...but if memory serves me correctly, I had a heck of a time trying to get a decent balance between the wagging, and having enough gyro to keep the tail from doing it's CPP thing...that is, wandering all over the place...
Most people are commenting on how powerful the N60 motor is, and I am hoping that might just be the ticket for what I was up against with the GWS tail motor setup...time will tell...
At any rate, for what it's worth, my gyro settings from summer were 0: 85% 1:100%
I think I felt that I needed a LOT of gyro, looking at it now....let's see what we end up with on the CPP 2's...
Good luck, and I hope your radio is OK...
Talk to ya,
Glenn

Do any of you guys know whether the Pro 2 has any changes in the head design verses the Pro or is it the same head???

Hey RMG,
Thanks for the info on Amain...I just ordered one off of eBay, and it's already shipped, but the price was the same as Amain...with free shipping, so I guess I did OK..
Haven't seen mine yet in person, of course, but I have read that there are no changes to the rotor head, or most of the heli, for that matter, like the frame, landing gear, battery holder setup (still the rubber band deal...lol), etc.
Maybe Bad Lemon can comment more, I don't want to mislead anyone...[X(]

jrizzle,
How did you make out at your LHS trying to get a CPP 2?
I struck out, they really couldn't give me an ETA at all, just that they had them on order...
I hated to do it, but I got mine online...but I'll still support them with parts purchases, which is where they make the large majority of their money anyways, not much on kits...

Thank you for the information regarding the head.
I'm looking for a good 300-class CP head assembly to go with another Guru-Z frame to build a Brushless CP. Not many really good choices for the 300-class. [
] The BCP Pro head assembly in aluminum looks about as good as anything I can find currently.
If anyone is interested, here is the heli I intend to build but this is my FP version.

Horizon shows the Pro 2 in stock, they also say that you get 10 bucks off carbon main blades if you buy one.
EDIT: the carbon blades them self are 20$! and can be bought at that price alone!

jrizzle,
Cool...I'll let you know...
It's interesting, seems like they are slowly spreading from west to east...I was talking to the guys at my LHS, and they were saying that they probably arrive in the ports on the west coast, from China, and then make their way across the country...
But, if that were the case, I wonder how my eBay seller had one, when he's in New York?
I don't know, it's a very weird distribution thing..lol..
At any rate, good luck, and keep us posted as well!

So last night I thought well, If a guy already has a CPP I wonder how much it will cost just to upgrade the few things that are different instead of buying the whole bird again and well from both my bone stock CPP's and to get everything from the canopy to the new fins, and everything else it came out to $260.00...
And then only like $139.00 for just the required motors/ 2 in 1/ accessories needed for that... (RX, gyro)
On RunRyder guys that have there CPP's beefed up with brushless motors N70 tail motors and accessories were kinda skeptical on if its gonna be much an improvement at all since they've only done a few things which most people have already upgraded there original CPP's to anyway with a better esc/gyro/motors etc.
Since I have 2 CPP's I'd still be possibly interested in a new CPP2 but I'll wait for some reviews to come in here from some of RCU's members and also anticipatate that E-Flite will produce a BNF version as they have done with other crafts before... But who knows if they will...
But it would be sweet if they did.
Can't wait to hear what ya have to say about it when you do get it ! I'am pretty sure its gonna fly much better than the original stockers of the CPP, but also its not gonna fly like a B-400 or a Trex...
Just think.... For only a $100.00 more you can get the Guai 200 V2 ready to go with the goodies from a few sites out there.
Your original CPP is already pretty close to what the new CPP2 has on it except for a couple of things huh ? So it will be a good comparison coming from you between the two and I'am looking forward to your review. [8D]
See ya on the flip side !

Impatient.....Telling us it was coming out June of last year and releasing it in late Feb 2009 almost drove us crazy!LOL One of the ebay sites is selling it with free carbon blades and shipping. I bought that one just cause it was such a good deal. When it comes in I will fly and post. LMK if anyone else has been flying theirs.

Jeff,
Yeah, I mulled over the thought of just buying the tail stuff, the H/O motor, the new plastic fins...etc, etc...[8D]
But, my CPP is pretty beat..lol..it's seen quite a few flights, and crashes too...so I figured, let's go brand new again, and start over...lol...
I've been flying it with epoxy holding that stupid little pole on the tailbox that they used on the original...and the stupid thing falls off every flight...LOL I am too lazy to go get a frame, tailboom, tailbox, etc...[>:]
Plus, I am LOVING the way the design looks (in pics....in person soon..lol) of the tail blade...the GWS thing was kinda bogus, if you ask me....the tail blade was a VERY tight press fit, and it was difficult at best to get it on straight half the time...
LOL, I even had one fly off in mid flight once....before I got it figured out...LMAO....the heli was low...good thing...never did find the tail blade![X(]
I also have vivid memories of trying to setup the gyro, GWS motor, and the stock 3 in 1 all at once...seemed I could never get it quite right...I would adjust this and that, and still couldn't decide if the gryo pot on the 3 in 1 made or overruled the G110 gyro or not...
The thing flew OK...but it just wasn't consistent, and often had either tail wag, or a loose tail...despite trying every adjustment combo I could think of...
So, I am also liking the more simple, 2 in 1 unit...hoping it will be a bit easier to get dialed in...
We'll see!

I couldn't try your setting that you suggested when I got home I tested my DX6i and after about 15 minutes I got the elevator channel to glitch. In monitor mode the elevator would not center even if you adjusted trim but if you moved the sticks around then it corrected it's self. So this is probably why my old cp hit the wall so the radio is on it's way to Horizon for repair I checked a couple of sites and others say it took about 6-8 days to get thiers back. I live in Illinois so mabe I'll get back quick. hope you get yours I'm interested in seeing what setting you come up with on your DX6i.

Hey Lemon,
That is a shame that so many of the DX6i's are having problems, but at least Horizon is taking care of it properly...
I guess I got lucky, and neither of mine is affected, no date codes, and no monitor issues, but they are both nearly a year old, it seems to be the newer radios that are having issues.
My CCP 2 should be arriving soon, not sure about the weather here this weekend though...but I'm sure going to give it a shot..
I'll keep you guys posted...
Hope you have a quick turnaround with the DX6i...

The weather has been bad here as well so I've been hovering around in my basement. Here is a video I took of my buddies new Blade 400. We made a set of training gear so he was test flying it in my basement. Sorry the video is poor I took it with my cell phone and my buddy edited it.

Hey Doug,
Must be nice to have a place to practice indoors, while the weather is bad....I can fly at work, in an auto shop, but it's a bit dangerous to the cars in the shop...lol[X(] So, I usually reserve that for smaller helis...like my CPP when I was still on training gear...
Looks like your buddy is off to a nice start with the B400 there...the nice big training gear are a plus, for sure at first! The vid isn't too bad for a phone cam...
The Blade 400 is sure a lot easier to learn on than our CPP's....lol
Have fun!
