Jeff,
LMAO...sounds like I have a civic duty to perform here...
I'll do my best, captain!!!
The weather isn't looking too promising, but, with the CPP, there is always the shop, in a pinch..[X(]

I've flown with over a foot of powder on the ground before. Just set a piece of plywood down for takeoff and landing, and off I went. Just be sure to land on the plywood and not the snow, but it does look awesome to fly with the snow blowing out from under it, just like the full sized ones.

Hey doc
A couple of things I found with my cppro2 the swash-plate had a slite tilt the fly-bar was not centered and one of the paddles was not level. Also are you going to perform your first flight with the radio it came with or did you setup your DX6i? Happy flying!

Hey Doug,
I kinda test hovered it on the floor at home last night, about an inch off the floor, and everything seems to be pretty close, my swash was pretty level, and the servo arms pretty close, need to look at the flybar and paddles yet...
Yep, I'm going to try it with the stock radio, to give me a baseline, so to speak...I know how hard it is to fly a regular CPP right out of the box, did that a while back, what a handful that was!
I'm going to try to video it, to give others some idea of how it is out of the box...then, I'll start working on taming it a bit, and fine tuning witht the DX6i flybar weights, etc..
Should be fun!

Hey guys,
Here's a vid of my first flight with the CPP 2...I wasn't the smoothest, had one battery pack through it at this time..[X(]
Man, I'll hand it to the guys at Eflite, they did a nice job with this heli!!
Night and day over the original CP Pro, that is for sure!!

That looks really smooth! Do you think the biggest difference is the new DD tail? I am going to upgrade my CPP1 as soon as the DD tail parts are available. They are all on backorder at Horizon. I love my CPP with my DX6, but I never know when the old style tail motor is going to "let go".

Good video! I agree with you E-flite did make the cppro2 a lot better but I still think the biggest improvement was the gyro. But the radio for the most part is still the same. But when you bind the cppro2 to your DX6i you'll see an even better flying cppro2. I'm just pissed that I had to send mine in for the call back.

wsdepa,
Yeah, I would have to say that the bigggest improvement was the DD tail, and when you add the gryo to that, it really all comes together...
But, on the same token, I did a GWS DD tail, and the G110 gyro, and extra flybar weights, etc, everything I could think of to make it fly as smooth as this CPP2, but I could not achieve this level of flyability, and smoothness in flight.
Maybe I didn't have the mixing correct, or the GWS tail wasn't as responsive, or powerful, not really sure...it will be interesting to see how the guys that convert the CPP 1 to the new parts make out...and I might be one, since I have a CPP1 sitting right here...
But, that being said, there is still something about this setup that just makes it kinda magic for me, since this is what I was striving for all along with my original CPP, and it eluded me, no matter how hard I tried (yep, even with the DX6i, and multitude of different pitch and throttle curves, gyro settings, etc).
The guys at Eflite definitely did their homework on this one!
I keep thinking that it's the higher headspeed that is helping, but that should make it even more twitchy and responsive, but more stable...they managed to get a great combination of stability, and control at the same time...all I can say is it's night and day from the original, taking both right out of the box, and they kept the price the same in the process

Doug,
Thanks for the kind words on the video!
My flying was a bit rough, should have known better, being pretty beat from a week's work..I was tired!
I agree that the radio is not anything to write home about, but at least it's 2.4 Ghz, and the glitches are gone now...that in itself is a big improvment!
Yeah, I can't wait to get it setup in the DX6i and do some fine tuning...
It is nice to fly right out of the box, but something didn't quite feel right on the throttle and/or pitch curves, I kept losing headspeed and altitude at different times, I think there is some improvement to be had their, or should I say some customizing to my flying style..
Sorry to hear that your DX6i had to go back..[
]
I am dying to take this thing outside for a spin, but the weather isn't cooperating at all...hearing some wind gusts out there already, supposed to be rainy and crappy all weekend..[
]
Good luck with yours and getting your radio back soon...
Glenn

Hey Glenn
I was thinkg the same thing about converting my old cp with the new parts but after I total up all the parts and a new receiver the price was $200.00 plus tax. So that's when I just decided to purchase the cppro2 RTF. I'm going to sell the radio they list it for $100.00 but if I get $40.00 to $60.00 I'll be happy.

Heli,
LOL, it could be a long one....but it's got a LONG ways to go to catch ours...[X(]
It's funny to go back to page one, and read from the beginning, you and I discussing the eBay CPP rotor blades, back in June...still going strong...
It's like the second largest thread on here, (by replies) and deff the fastest growing one...

Hey Doug,
Yeah, I'm in a bit better situation, I already have the G110 and a receiver in mine...but I would still prob be looking at $120 or so, all said and done...mine needs a new boom (which means pretty much a new frame too), and to start from scratch, and it's pretty well "broken in" so to speak too..lol
We'll see...truth is, I have more helis than I have time to fly them as it is...[X(]
I'm going to do some studying on the DX6i/CPP2 setup here in a few...look at my original CPP settings and so forth..

Hey Doug,
I was looking back, I thought I remembered you having some pitch curve numbers posted for the stock radio (post #17)....and I was curious where you got those numbers? [sm=confused.gif]
All I can find in the manual are the charts for the pre-programmed pitch and throttle curves in the provided HP6DSM radio?
I'm getting ready to start on the DX6i, and was curious....did you ever get a chance to raise those pitch curves and try it, or did the radio recall put an end to that testing?
Thanks!
Glenn

Hi Glenn
I looked at my buddies DX6i that he got with his B-400. And started from there. I had to make changes to one of the swash mixes and had to reverse some inputs. I did use your setting and it did help a lot. But because my radio was acting up I only flew it for about a 1 minute. In my opinion my setup is very tame so you should have no control problems. A few days ago I downloaded the manual for the Blade 400 PNP and it had some detailed instructions on setting up the DX6i and the setting was very close to what I came up with so you may want to have a look at them. Hope this helps link is below

I have a question about the play in the the head assemblyon my cppro2. If you hold the main shaft gear then move the head assembly from side to side I get a fair amount say 1/16" of movement. I know that with the head spinning the play will be taken up do to the load but I was just wondering how much play is to much.

Both my CPP's carry a lot of slop in the head also... Its not a Trex, but its still a fun heli to fly around especially for the price. You can't beat that along with the simplicity, and durability of the craft. I wouldn't worry to much about it, just go fly it...
You guys with these new CPP 2's are making me dust off my CPP's ! I started with the CPP as my first heli back when I signed up with RCU, and always will carry a soft spot for it even though it caused me a lot of frustrations sometimes... All I could ever do with it before is hover the darn thing and they've sat since pretty much. Since I've been flying and learning on my Trex's, I dug out the CPP's and found that I actually can fly the damn things finally ! I'am looking forward to purchasing the new CPP 2 in time....

Cheers,
~ Jeff
