OUCH!

Scott - I looked up the Trex Pro SD w/ 3GX PNP & it's about 150 bucks more than the KDS (I looked at the 1st place that came up, so maybe cheaper elsewhere). I did think the design was slick, esp being able to remove the shaft block & get at the servos really easy.

The 3GX has a lot of potential w/ all the plug in options.

It would put a pretty big dent in my PayPal account. Choices, choices, choices...

Chuck

P.S.

I'm guessing he's busy stocking up on assault rifles! LOL

Straight up.. I don't have any good experience with a 3GX. A lot of folks like them. I'm in the Spartan Vortex camp. But... Istill love the Beast X FBLunit. If I were to get a T-Rex 500 again, I'd get a kit without an FBLunit and buy an AR7200BX.

Hey guys. I am still around and still waiting on a house. The Texas event went quite well. I flew in early and put a new trans in the car. Saturday I qualified #1 in the class (GTR Unlimited) running 8.78 in the quarter. Sunday we set the highest MPH of any car or bike for the weekend at 172.94 MPH. So we remain on top of the game.

New project at work. Alex just got done setting up a QAV500 quad copter for the shop. We are using DJI NAZA w/ compass and GPS as a flight controller. We are going to use it to get aerial shots with the new Gopro Hero 3. Here is a video of a test we did yesterday filming at 2.7k in Protune raw mode. Nice clean picture with no jello.

3GX is difficult to set up, and I don't recommend it to anyone.  It is difficult to set up because there is no reasonably understandable manual.  If you are new to 3GX you must learn it from your friend who knows how to setup, or spend endless hours watching youtube.   It is shame that Align sells this product and does not provide decent manual.

Oh, Phil, tell me it isn't so???? You didn't damage that nice body (heli NOT yours) did you?? LOL

Welcome back, Ivan. Sorry to hear about the house & great news you're doing your job right! LOL

Thanks, Scott for the review on the 3GX. I might look into a kit minus the FBL ctlr. I've got that one in the 300X & it is stable but I haven't tried to change any settings yet. Do you know anybody flying the eBar from KDS? I really like the Flymentor so I looked at theirs.

Sugarlando - thanks! I was looking for a manual on line to see how to program it. I never did find one which made me nervous! Which one do you like?

Scott - if you're asking about the tall building in the back ground, that's a high rise condo in the middle of a golf course. They were flying in a park near Alex's house about 25 miles from downtown Chicago.

Scott - I just found out that the KDS 450 is a clone of the T-Rex 450 Pro V2! That opens up all kinds of possibilities.

I reviewed a couple of FBL controllers & my current heli budget. The AR7200 while ideal would pretty much be the only purchase for months to come! LOL As a compromise & to keep the project moving (I can always swap one in later), I found the KDS E-Bar really cheap on e-bay. So I thought I'd give that a try. That also means I have money left. Now to decide if I want to upgrade an exisitng heli or buy a new frame...

Ivan - just came back from the school were I maidened the heavily repaired J3 Cub & it flew really well even in some wind. I might try increasing the throws to make it a bit more responsive, if they can handle it.

I would have flown the Tuff Trainer except I forgot I put all the packs to "bed" for the winter & as soon as it took off it went to low V alarm! LOL What a dummy...

If the wind dies down, I'll try a heli or two later.

SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!!!!

Nice Chuck. I have been flying the Nano, mCP X and mCP X BL at work. Just picked up two mQXs for the shop so guys can practice for the bigger quad. Flew the QAV500 quad yesterday at lunch and got some pretty sweet video.

On the housing front. I FINALLY got a short sale approval letter this past Tuesday. It is all in the hands of my mortgage broker now and he is hammering away at it. We are just waiting on the updated contract to be signed by the sellers. He has everything else he needs to get my file into underwriting. The sellers bank requested a closing date on or before April 22nd. It looks like I might be a home owner fairly soon!

Ivan,

That's great news! I bet you're super excited. Take some pictures when you get it! Great video from Texas, too! Congratulations on that front, too!

Chuck,

Dunno anything about that FBLunit. I hope it works out for you.

On my front, today is moving day... for Sara... that means the upstairs will be vacated and my wife and Iget our own rooms for our stuff... mine... helicopters!

Scott
