hardly noticeable, but they are cheaper to learn on then symetiricals. but then again i havent busted any blades yet.

copperdudes, Can you tell me how long you have been flying heli's?
noguy, i've started to fly the blade cp this mid july, so i'd say about 5~6 months. i bought it used for 200 CAD. and just learned on it. as i said, i don't have a sim, nor am i allowed to get one. i have not busted a single part until i gone into fff. and ya, it's doable. but remember, everyone have their own pace. i mastered tail in hover in 3 days. 3 batt packs a day (ni-hm). now, it's getting cold, and i can't fly with cold thumbs. i'll try to make a radio glove of some sort. another factor is that i was 14 when i started (now 15), so i might have advanced faster than some people. but i know people that have practiced on the sim and was able to invert it on the second batt. (or so they claims). i'm more average as i'm going right now. i have to pay for everything i need, not that easy for a 15yo delivering the newspapers.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

cool copperdudes,
I am a bit older (29) so my reflexs are not like yours most likely.... This is my first heli also...I had tail in down pretty well after about an hour or so in the air. (my first several pack on ground)...I have been continuing to practice this and side in...I am not totally comfortable with SI yet but can stay side in either way for a minute or 2 until i get nervious in my very small flying space inside (about 10*10)
I need to get outdoor and practice a little hovering at a little higher elevation. I have also been trying nose in some now and have been trying from NI takeoff. can only keep it for a short while. After I have to correct a couple of times to stay put I get nervious and disoriented... I am hoping to get outside with some more room, will increase my comfort level and I want to practice higher hovering then try to rudder in to nose-in... I have read that this is a good way so one can just rudder back to tail in when they get disorriented.....
Also dude did you learn fig 8's first or nose in...
Congrats on your fff and no crashing...my wallet has been hit a few times already.....I too have no sim, so I have been trying to take it very slow, and as RADD advises staying where I am very comfortable and just very so slowly moving a little out of my comfort zone at a time...This has been saving me money for sure as have the plasti-blades...lol

Well thanks again for the reply copperdudes, I hope to be flying my CP pro around as well in 6 months from now.

does anyone know how to fly the blade cp in a circle with the tail facing the ground?

Brushless,

I dont know who makes them...My lhs had some and I have seen them on ebay also. Also check Horizon, tower, helidirect and other popular web sites that sell heli parts. I know I have seen them around alot on the web.

I am getting ready to head down to park for my first outdoor fly session....wish me luck. I will be very happy I my heli is still in one piece when I get back since I know I will be trying out hovering at a higher elevation.

Holy cow! Those things are expensive. I ordered some of the flat bottomed blades today so they'll be here next Wednesday. Since I get them at cost, I ordered 4 packs because I know I'll need them! :D

I think I'll pass on the plastic blades for now unless I totally kill all 4 of the other sets I ordered.

does anyone know how to fly the blade cp in a circle with the tail facing the ground?
that is called a tail in funnel, can be upright or inverted, it's quite hard, harder than nose in funnel, where you fly it in a circle with teh nose facing the ground. with nose in funnel, you enter from ff circle and lead the tail. with tail in funnel, you enter from backward flight circle and slow teh tail down. so you first must master backward flight, something that i've not yet mastered. will try to. i've done nose in funnels, but not tail in.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Well obviously didnt come back in one piece.
There was a little more breeze than i should have been out in...a couple of gusts moved me pretty far away and side in. A few rough landings when I got nervious and finally a boom strike....
Well I think I will be stuck in my little bonus room until There is a very calm day :)

I have a question for everyone. Is there a difference in the stability when using training gear. I used them for the first time today and the heli seemed to wobble under the rotor on occation. Especially when I would catch the heli from a fast drift and bring it to a stop then straighten it up and it would wobble while hovering. I fixed my boom and tried with the training gear on in the house....same thing. I then checked the balance on my blades, checked my tracking and tried again. The thing seems to fly ok but then here and there it wobbles. I removed the training gear and then it seemed much better however the thing seems like it has become less stable now. The pendulum behavior of the heli seems exadurated. I dont know if my nerves have just been rattled or if it is actually behaving improperly. It still moves in every direction its told and acts predictably just seems a little more sloppy if that makes any sense. Do heli fly/hover more stable with training gear off? Has anyone else noticed their heli wobble (like it has the jitters) when in a very stationary hover?

Any input would be much appriciated.

sorry to here about your boom strike, but i guess that's bound to happen, however luckily not to me .....yet *knock knock (on wood hehehe)* i flew out side for about 20 min today, very unevent full, severl cars did slow down to watch b/c i was almost in the road lol.

so how many here plan on getting a bigger electric once they've mastered the blade, or is this just kinda treated as a toy to most of the people on here, and by toy i mean you fly it while your big nitro's are cooling down.

Trex Se for sure!

I found them local for 429.00...

I agree with Robmoney, the T-Rex series is the most popular heli world wide, one sweet bird. I've got a Trex and love the thing.

Hi guys,

Quick question, I just received all the goodies to upgrade my Pro to Brushless. What do you use and how do you put the pinion gear on the motor shaft? Never done this before and I don't want to screw up the motor, before I even get to use it.

Dave / Choppersrule

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

I used a wood block, then the pinion on it and motor on top.

Used a small hammer and tapped the Motor Shaft from the top side very easy, straight, and a little at a time... Tap only on the motor shaft, NOT THE MOTOR CASING!!!!!

Mark the approximate point on the shaft so you don't go to far...

Worked like a champ for me...

Anyone???

I have checked and rechecked my blade balance and tracking..... Has anyone had probs with hard to trace vibrations? I noticed in flight without my canopy on the batt wire seems to be shakin. RADD lessons says this is a sign of low freq vib.... I have had to replace a main shaft before...I think the weight of the plasi-blades is transfering impact of crashes in to other stuff. If the bird has a small amount of
Vibration how will this affect the flight behaviour? Please help.

Anyone tried this main shaft on their bcpp?
http://www.bladecprepair.com./man_cmg_conversion.html

Does the main shaft stay truer longer...ie stronger/more durable?

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Robmoney,

Thanks for the tip and quick response. I bent the main shaft on my experimential CP last night. Also, I had the 7.5 fuse modification on the motor and the fuse blew. Guess the idea works, probably saved my 4n1. Got the fuse replaced and just finished getting the main shaft back in. Should be up and flying in "30 minutes or less" (isn't that what domino pizza use to advertise).
When I'm finished with that, then I have to replace the swash plate on the T-Rex... After that, I'll start the rebuild on the Pro, I got a new main frame and tail boom for it. The original tail boom was cracked and I've been flying it with black tape for a fix.
With the brushless motor deal, I wanted to start out fresh.

Thanks again Rob,
Dave / Choppersrule

Dave...

Robmoneys method works well just be sure to use a brass or aluminum hammer when you pound on that nice motor shaft. Will help prevent deformation of the shaft.

BTW, which motor you get? I am using the Eflite park 400 3700kva and the stinkin thing has gobbs of power and darn near sounds like a turbine...

Tasci2,

I was trying Robmoneys method and had some trouble doing it that way, Hmmmm, now what. I read the flipin' instuctions, quess what, it said to use a vise. I looked at the motor and the shaft sticks out about 1/16 th of an inch from the can. Must be in design. Anyway, went out to the garage, took the motor and gear, stuck in the vise and started turning the crank. Low and behold, that sucker went on perfectly. No muss, no fuss. And no hammering.

See pictures. Started with a new main frame. Got the motor mounted, servos in, 3n1 in. Just takin' my time, it'll be done tomorrow.

I got the suggested, Park 370 and all, I'm just a backyard flyer and don't do 3D. So I think it'll be plenty for me. I just love to tinker with the helis.

Yeah! I have no vise here at home...

When all else fails, read the directions! :) Right!

You'll FREAK when you fire that sucker up the first time! Especially with CF blades! Put your shades on it's so cool! [8D]

Robmoney,

Yep, Instructions are something new to me after 60 years, I normally don't use them. But this time it work just peachy.
As I mentioned to Tasci2, I'm takin' my time. I want the setup as perfect as I can get it. I will use flat woodies for the first flight, just to get the hang of the new motor.
