RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
ORIGINAL: Commander_Bob When you say reversing you just mean the gyro give the correct input (not opposit) and it respauns to Tx commands right? Also there are no vibrations because the motor is seprate and not mounted... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Ok one last concern... With the DX6 the 3-in-1 won't arm unless I use the throttle hold swith (I have it set to 0%) and once it arms if I switch it back and push the throttle up a little the light turns red and if I bring it back it starts flashing green again for a wile then goes solid.
Also the 3-in-1 is getting very warm saying there is no motors pluged in to draw current. I'll try to make a video |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
ok, make sure you have the throttle curve of normal mode set to 0 at low stick. and don't move it while the 3 in 1 initiallizes. and no, the tail shouldn't spin unless it detects movements when set up correctly. hover it, you'll still find that the tail will move in one direction, use subtrim to correct this. once you have set the subtrim so that the tail holds in a hover, you've got it dailed in. and the creep in the servo will be minimal and that teh tail should not spin on spool up unless you tell it to, or it sense motion.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Well, I finally was able to fly outside today. I took the stocker to the high school field, and of course the wind came up as soon as I got there, but not too bad.
So this was the first outdoor flight of the stocker that I built a couple days ago from spares. I experienced most of the problems that we have been discussing on the thread! Poor tail performance, a couple sudden drops, a mysterious power loss during flight in idle-up, nodding, etc. The one thing I didn't do was crash. Here is what I think: most of the control problems and glitches were due to the TX batteries being almost flat, and the fact that I was sitting on the wet ground with the tx antenna very close to and parallel with the ground. The nodding was very slight and I think temerature-related--it is not very cold but colder than in my apt for sure. Performance in FFF was very nice, but in slow flight the tail really sucked on left turns. To the right it was fine. Plenty of climb performance both in normal and idle-up. But the tail performance was not so good, I've been using other systems for so long that I had forgotten how much better the other systems are. I have a lot of respect for those pilots who have learned acro flight with the stock system and no external gyro. I am sure that these folks could fly any helicopter they might encounter, after learning in this manner with the BCPP. After I got home, I took the MX400Pro out to the backyard and did a bunch of hover-taxi eights, some zoomz in idle-up, orientation practice, a good flying day altogether.!:):) |

My throttle curve is 0% 70% 100% [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfagEuzqK7s]3-In-1[/link] |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I fixed it. The tail lead had to be pluged into the gyro.
I just figured out that the 3-in-1 maxes out at 70% throttle (in throttle curve settings) based on this what sould my throttle curve be? Still 0 70 100? Thanks so much:D |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
yep, it max out about 70, so i'd think what you might want to do is set the throttle high end point to alittle over 70, and then you won't have to worry about it. i'm still thinking that you have alittle bit of throttle at low stick, and the only way to deal with that is with throttle hold. my guess would be since you've set your mid point to about 70 (max throttle), at low stick, there will be alittle throttle. and yes, the green blinking, the red, the continueing green is not a problem, only the red means taht you've got throttle imputs.

Uncle Sir,
Glad you got everything back together and working like a top. I just finished a total rebuild and brushless upgrade on my Pro, took pains taking effort to make all adjustment on the money.. Wow, it's total different machine with the brushless and the fine tune set-up. And yes, ol' Jellyson is a wealth of knowledge. Hi Jelly, my ol buddy, Dave / Choppersrule |

Chopperdudes,
An excellent video and well explained, thanks for the video. Really helps in understanding when you can actually see what's happening. Dave / Choppersrule ORIGINAL: chopperdudes oh, and here is an explanation of a hh gyro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TLD8CqsN0M |

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I have my pitch curve at 45 60 90 witch makes about -1 - +12
My throttle curve is 0 50 85 |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I suggest you set the top of the throttle curve back to 100 percent (THN=100) and limit the throttle in the travel limit menu instead.
The left stick has to be in the position you are setting: Left stick low, the display will read the minus limit, left stick high and the display will read the positive limit. Set the throttle servo travel limits to -110, +80, and set your THN back to 100 percent. See how this works for your 3-in-1 problem. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
So far, I've had my CP Pro for about two weeks. One thing that I have noticed ever since I started flying it is that the mast wobbles at low rotor speeds. In fact, if one looks at the cap head screw while the rotors are spinning at a low speed, you can see that it is not centered -- it is slightly off in rotation. This causes the CP to slightly vibrate before it lifts off. After about 25% throttle, any vibration disappears. I haven't crashed the CP or hit anything with it yet. The helicopter has been like this ever since I pulled it out of the box. Is this a concern or is this normal?

There is so much variation in the parts called the "center hub" and the "rotor head" that there will always be a little wobble here. After you crash slightly the shaft will bend a bit, and then you can turn the whole head 180 degrees and the wobbles will cancel out. Minex, you probably think I am kidding. But I'm not. [8D] |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
ya, set the endpoint for throttle channel, not the curve itself. that way, it'll make more sense. also, i'd say back up your swash value for pitch, the stock motor can't handle 12 degree.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Ok I pluged in the old tail motor (stock one) with no blade and it flips out random surges. The 3-in1 gets hot... Could my 3-in-1 be broken?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Thanks for the reply Jellyson. I figured as much. I did have a close call examining the central hub a few hours ago trying too figure out the wobble. I had my hand on the helicopter while the throttle was about 10% as I examined the spin. I accidentally hit the idle up switch which caused the blades to go full speed, thus hitting my hand and tipping the CP over. Through some miracle, the battery unplugged itself. No damage to the helicopter, but I do have a huge welt on my thumb. I'll consider myself lucky. I don't even want to think about the damage that could have been caused if the battery stayed in place.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Been there, done that, installed locking toggle switches on all my heli TXs (well, those that have flight mode switches anyway).
Lucky you didn't break a finger. Probably would have with CF blades. I actually bound my DX6 system to idle-up by mistake once. Boy was that exciting. |

And just as a general principle, these motors should be run with a load if possible, like a prop, because they can overspeed and throw windings if they are run at full power with no load. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
commander bob, can you elaborate on the "it flips out random surges"? did you set it to standard servo mode, and not digital or super servo? and set it to hh mode. are you saying that the tail will speed up and slow down rapidly? you might want to try lowering your gain, and make sure you position the gyro correctly, i don't know which way is correct, but if you put it in teh wrong orrientation, it'll work on another axis instead of the yaw axis. how hot does the 3 in 1 get?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
The 3-in-1 gets pretty warm with NO MOTOR running JUST SERVOS! I don't know why. I can't remember a time where it was hot.
Yes the gyro is not set to digital and it only surges on HH mode. With the rudder trim at 0 the motor just keeps speeding up untill at max so I set trim to +4 and this seems to keep it at a constant speed unless the heli is moved or Tx inputs are given. I am yet to try the gyro on my DD tail with HH on. I could go try it now... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
YES WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D: D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just tested the gyro in HH mode outside with the DD tail not my old motor and WAHOOO it works like the guys in the video! I bet my old motor is going bad. That would explane the loss of power with it. I can't wait to try and fly it tomarrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can not belive how happy I am that it worked! THANK YOU, Justin |
