RE: 30 minutes flight time from my Super Sportster EP!
And, after another brief (for me) 8 month detour I'm planning to maiden this living definition of procrastination & overkill sometime this month. I fit a Sig 4* 40 landing gear bracket and changed out the flimsy control wires for 2-56 rods. Wheel pants & canopy not yet finalized. This is the straightest, tightest plane I've built yet, hoping I can enjoy flying it for at least as long as I've been working on it! Thanks again for all the advice and great ideas presented here.

Now that is a great looking Super Sportster. Ifinally broke down and just put the standard decals on mine and wish I hadn't after it was done. For some reason they used translucent decals and the red shows through and Ireally don't like them much. I got a second one and recovered it in PT-19 colors and it looks a lot better. Both of mine are still on one piece, so I get to fly another summer on them. I love the way they fly, but the stock decals leave a lot to be desired. With that motor and prop combination you should move along pretty good. Ifly at half throttle most of the time and get about 30 minuets flying time on one charge. Ionly go to full throttle on vertical and the rest is just crusing along on half. Ihave a 450 Watt motor in mine now and it flies great on a 9X6 prop. Lots of luck on yours and hope you get it up soon. Let us know how it flies......................

Yeah I like Hindsight's color scheme a lot...
The new versions don't come with decals, rather the trim is pre-applied at the factory.
But that's not to stop one from being creative...

Wow, props from the two guys that showed what could be done...Thanks!
Any suggestions on CG & control throws beyond recommended? I came in at 3 lbs., 4 oz. all up with a pair of 2200 3S under the hatch.

For high rates I wouldn't go more than another 1/2" if possible on the elevator. I went with as much as I could get and found that I had to dial it down.
For the ailerons and rudder I went with everything I manage for high rates.
That puts the rudder just before the point it touches the elevator at extremes.
The ailerons move up and down to the point the servos just start binding.
When I built it, I made sure I had as much movement as possible on all of the surfaces.

I went with what was called for on the high rates and then changed it to everything I could get on rudder and aileron. Half of that on low. The elevator doesn't need a lot of movement, so I would stay with 1/2" or slightly less. On mine, the CG called for is a little nose heavy and could stand to go back a little, but I would try the stock location first before you play with it any. After that it is up to you as to how far back you go if any. I may move mine back a little to see if that fixes the nose heavy condition I have now and not get to wild. If you are using the stock landing gear, I would leave the wheel pants off for the first few flight. The gear legs are kind of soft and will let the wheels go back pretty far. I had black marks on the underside of my wing from the first flight and the wheel pants would have put some nice holes in it if they had been on there. I am going to change my landing gear to an alum mount as soon as I get one that will fit and look good.Ed
