Is anyone out there doing something DIFFERENT? Taking some chances, and trying things or just taking things out of the box, gluing them together, and that's it? Some would call it looking for a fight, but we had started this idea last year. We're looking to do REAL combat, no holds barred, last plane in the air wins. We've already got some tricks up our sleeves.

So we should just give the idea to a bunch of 12 year olds that high speed projectiles in their public parks is fun and exciting? Seems a tad irresponsible.

Not exactly sure where you saw a public park in the video? They sell those rockets at Wal-Mart, no ID or anything required.

My issue isn't that it's being done. That's fine and dandy. I have issues with it being posted as such a cool thing to do. Here we have one local club and one club for only the college kids at the university. Three flying sites in all. What happens when one irresponsible college kid that thinks the video he linked from the forums is really cool looking, takes less precaution than you have, and launches a rocket on university property into university property or even worse near a person? The college would shut down their flying field immediatly followed by the city seeing it posted in the newspaper shutting down the local flying field as well. Through no fault of your own an entire group of people then have nowhere to fly.

Think of others. There would be more than one pilot displaced by the actions of one idiot. What would the other 50 people flying at these fields do without their ama sponsored flying fields? What have they been paying dues for for 30+ years for if their flying field is closed due to a 10 dollar rocket and a false sense of elitism?

Like I said, dude, anything can happen, you could loose signal, for some reason, the plane flies off, crashes into a building, a car, or a person, at any given moment, then what happens if you get shut down? You're over reacting, just a smidge.

Those things are out of your control. Strapping a high speed projectile to your plane and firing it off is not out of your control. Which is why it would go against the ama's regulations for safety. And also every flying field I've ever heard of.
