Hey folks , 1st post here. Please forgive me if this post is not in the right spot or this topic has been discussed previously - this forum is huge !
I am new to quality electric planes , but have been racing rc cars for many years and have been flying a Hangar 9 P-51 PTS plane for a short while , as well as various park flyer foamies and whatnot.
I recently got the Hyperion Spitfire " super scale glass series" 25e with the power set. What a great looking bird ! However .... I got her all built and was tinkering around getting ready for the maiden flight this weekend, and I had the 10 X 10 apc prop intalled, I decided to switch to the 10 X 7 for the first flight as recommend. As I was bolting it on the motor shaft and tightening it down - THE MOTOR SHAFT SNAPPED RIGHT OFF !!
. The shaft itself broke in two , leaving me with the prop nut with a piece of the shaft through it in one hand , and the motor with the rest of the shaft still in the nose of the plane. I was not giving it the Gorilla grip or anything , just hand tight and then a good snugging.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Now I can't get the prop adapter off whats left of the shaft either . [
]
I know I am a total noobie to this set up - is there something I did wrong ?
Does anyone have a link to video or text that gives tips to mounting these items in this type of set up ?

If you broke the shaft just by tightening it then for sure it would have broken within the first few flights anyway. I've snapped a shaft once but only after a hard prop strike with carbon blade. You need to contact the supplier and tell them. If you are a noob seek advice on replacing the shaft. It will take some force to take out the old shaft but it must be done carefully so as not to damage anything else. Good luck.

Ok, thanks ditchit for the reply
Result is I am an idiot - turns out what broke was the threaded shaft portion of the prop adapter - and not the actual shaft of the motor. I put everything together a few months ago and forgot how the prop adapter and the motor shaft mated to one another. So that is a relief. Turns out the prop adapter is aluminium as apposed to the steel motor shaft.
The adapter is designed to be weaker and give way in a crash in order to protect the shaft of the motor.
I talked to Hyperion rep and he was very helpful. So my apologies to Hyperion for me jumping the gun and posting this topic prematurely. I was pissed in the heat of the moment. You know how that goes!
.
I am still having a terrible time getting the prop adapter off the shaft of the motor though. This thing is stuck on there really good. My flywheel puller is too big to clamp around the adapter to pull it off that way. I tried tapping the prop adapter shaft towards the plane to open up the " clamp style adapter" - I know that's not the right terminology there - sorry. I AM a rookie. Nothing seems to work. My next step is to take the dremel with a cut off wheel and just start cutting the adapter away from the motor shaft. Scarry.
Any tips from the experienced folks who may have been in this situation before would be much appreciated !
Again , sorry for the hasty and inacurate first post here.

This plane IS a real beauty - Outstanding detail, and I can't wait to get her airborne. It's been hanging in my garage for far too long, waiting for the right conditions and a preflight/first flight CG check and trimming from a more experienced pilot. It's time to get this thing in the air!
