i just picked one of these up today as well. very very cool. i might be a bit biased, as i've been a fan of the BladeRunner line of helis since they first came out, but this one is certainly the coolest. very quite, more stable feeling than the other BR helis, and its pretty small too. 70 bucks is kinda steep, and there's been some bad reviews, but thats to be expected with some new toys.

lots of little modification options too, they give you two differant props for the tail motor, some little weights for the front for even more forward speed. doing the spacer mod should still work just fine, shedding some of the plastic to drop a few grams, and of course lube it well. no pictures as of yet, but i'll get some soon with some flight times and probably some video as well. what i'm looking forward to the most is when the stock motors die (they should actually last quite a while), cause once the stock ones go out, then i can start trying some of the differant SuperSlick 7mm motors and make it a hotrod

all radio shacks should have them in stock now, if not very soon. by the time christmas comes around, the price should be down and they'll probably have worked out some kinks so it'll be even better.

I might get one of these. But I am looking for a mini helicopter that around $50. $70 is more than I want to spend.

i got a few little video shots tonight so i thought i'd post it. flight times are at 8-9 minutes, still seems to be increasing (13 minute flight times have been noted by others). here's the video clip: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574515

The video looked good, how much lift does it have? Will it easily hit the ceiling?

i tested one out at my local RS it was so quiet compared to the picco and it hit the ceiling in a flash it seemed to be broken in that the forward and reverse didnt work. Ive heard these have high failure rates. Is this true? if so is it worth buying?

the first batch of the Mosquitos that have come out seem to have more problems than normal, mostly TX and charging issues. i dont want to say the mosquito is better than the picco or the picco is better than the mosquito, because they're so differant, but the picco is more user friendly i think, the mosquito requires a little more effort in the trimming. the mosquito, and all other BR helis have a slow forward speed, i think the mosquito is the fastest one so far. the picco might be quicker, but i can get the mosquito to go where i want it a lot easier than the picco (it just takes a little longer getting there). personally, i think the mosquito is awesome, it looks great, is very quite and durable - i've crashed many times, its taken it like a champ. the stock cell is taking a while to get to its full potential, but my flight times are 8 or 9 minutes and getting better, but i think the new Atomic 220mah cell would give the heli a lot more airtime, and some bearings will help smooth it all out like silk!

I got a PicooZ from radio shack and i'm pretty enthused with it. I modified the transmitter though. Took out the the spring on the throttle. It made it a much better flying aircraft. I have to say it's my first heli, and I might be getting addicted.

All my other aircraft are fixed wing. I'm beginning to get worried.

I love my misquito. But I am having a problem with it. The tail motor doesn't spin at all. I flew it right out of the box without any charge( because the lipo comes with a little bit of charge in it). And it flew great, and took a little bit of adjusting, but the tail motor doesn't spin at all. Help.

RC18, check out this link from the inventor, it should help your tail motor problem: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=117

I just got done with flight 2. Same thing. I wish it would work. This day was bad to begin with, but with a heli that doesn't work, the day is getting worse.

did you try adjusting the POT on the TX board as noted in the link? the POT wasnt adjusted right on some of them when they left the factory, it usually just takes a very small adjustment on the POT to get it working properly.

I just bought a MM at RS today and must say that it looks very cool I just wish flew as well as it looks. I can control my picco z better than this thing. I really won't it work it is just too cool. I had to put some weight on one of the top rotors to help balance it out. I also added all 4 of the weights to the bottom of the motors to try and get some sort of forward motion, still not as good the pz. I then changed the tail rotor , no change. I have not had any interference problemes that others have had but if I have to mod the tx I will try anything to get it to fly. I read everything in rcgroups about this new heli and had to try it for my self.

I have a question i just went and got one. It its okay but whenever i fly it i find a good height and hover. randomly it will go to the lowest throttle setting and smash to the floor. Also any tips on forward motion mine just wobbles back and forth when i put on forward thrust. it will go forward and then swivel back like a pendulum. Whats up with my mostquito its hard to control!!!Any of you who have a stormlauncher, is it worth another 40bucks to have one rather than this heli?

My misquito needs to be trimmed like every 5 sec. The pot didn't work, so far this heli has NOT been worth it. All the trimming is just dumb, and the rear motor doesn't even spin. I will just take it back an hope I get a good one.

For anybody that has one, when the main rotors start spinnig, does the tail motor spin too? Or does it only spin when you tell it to go forwards or backwards?

the entire line of BR helis (BR, BRII, Mini BR, Micro Mosquito) are all slow in terms of speed, and there really isnt a lot to get past that, its just part of the design. going from a hover to forward flight is where most people have problem, this heli cant be flown like the Picco, it takes very subtle and soft inputs on the TX sticks or it gets out of control (the control issue is compounded by the fact that the first run production helis were a little tail heavy, so when you go from forward flight back to hover, it makes it rock back and forth even more). despite the problems some folks have with the MM, i'd still take it over the picco. i do love the picco, but i can put the MM anywhere i want every time.

DJ, try the POT mod that i linked to a few posts up for RC18. you may have to adjust the POT because the tail motor might not be getting full power when you give it full power. this is the important part of the idea: "adjust the trim-pot marked SW3 a little in the CCW direction until you reach full speed when your stick is pressed max forward." there's pictures to show how to do it in that link.

RC18, the tail motor only turns on when you push the stick forward, it can be run while the main rotors are not spinning. there may be an electrical fault somewhere on the RX or TX. i've found that if you find the "right one" it flys very nicely. for some reason, ITC (maker of the BR/MM) has had constant problems with their first run productions. if you have enough problems with yours, and dont feel like tinkering with it to get it working right, return it and save the cash till the 2nd generation comes out. with that said though, it usually doesnt take much to fix the little things to make it run well. or, you could just junk it, rip the RX out and stuff it in an AA and use the 3rd channel for an elevator on the tail

of course, some dont think they should have to tinker with a toy they just spent 70 bucks on just to get it to work right, and thats understandable. i personally dont have a problem with it, but thats mostly cause i would've tinkered with it anyway. like i said though, for as much as i like the Picco, i'll still take the MM. it takes more trimming and more effort to fly it, but the results are a more smooth heli with a much more precise feel.
