Hi Dave, nice to have met you at Ashford this weekend.
Nice to put a face to a name
Job and I had a really nice time at the UK and we will be there next year.
I finished 3th in the P11 finals and Job 7th.. Also in the P11 finals.
The contest was very nice organised !!
Thumbs up for the organisation and helpers who made this weekend possible.

Greetings,

Roy

There has been limited talk about the new Spark EVO and how it performs compared to the Spark Dynamic.

So, what's the verdict?

Is it better than the Spark Dynamic?

Are there any weaknesses in the design or construction?

Andrew, which model will you be flying at Muncie?

Cheers,
Jason.

Steve

As far as hatch latches go I would run the hatch latch that chris moon sells. I tried to past the URL in here but it will not allow me to.
There a red color. They are the best I have seen. Also, on the bottom hatch we placed pins in the back and just a 4-40 screw up front.
I'll try and post pictures when I have my camera in my hand.

...first I'd like to say congratulations to you for your personal and Team USA finish at the WC's. I was fortunate to watched your last two rounds in the finals which were inspiring to witness.

Wondering if the wings and stabs on the SPARK EVO you flew in the WC's used stock or aftermarket wings and stabs?

Bang for buck, the AXI wins hands down. Performance of the 5325/24 is awesome especially when coupled with Power Unlimited packs, Rasa 20.5 x 14 prop and a Jeti Spin 99.

The Plettenberg is a good motor too but you'll pay twice as much for it. The performance and reliability is not twice as good either. The mounting of the Plettenberg is probably a little less flexible too. The AXI can be mounted two ways, front or back.

Cheers,
Jason.

How are you guys dealing with the flap that goes over the servo in the wing? Ar you gluing down, or just taping it down like the instructions say? Me personally, I would find a way to mount on the surface rather than in the wing. What is the purpose of mounting in the wing anyway? I know it makes for a cleaner set up, but does airflow over the servo really cause that much of an issue?

Thanks

Clear sticky tape is good enough for F3D Pylon so I think it would be more than adequate for an F3A ship. Tape is light too!

The advantage of mounting the servo on its side is more than just aerodynamically cleaner, it's actually better geometry..

Cheers,
Jason.

Has anyone flown the Spark Dynamic and Evo 1 to see which one flies and presents better, it looks like the dynamic has a taller canopy and is a little more forward, any thoughts?

Thank you very much for you comments. The reason I used different wings at the WC2011 was I really like a light airplane. I'm not sure on the others weight at the worlds but mine was pretty light at 4680grams with a 5000mah pack. I have flown the stock wings and they do snap slower than most. I have worked with Ivo to produce the same wing with bigger ailerons. Currently mark atwood is flying these wings and his snaps are much faster.

Sorry for all the questions guys, but has anyone rear mounted a motor in this airplane? I am seeing most people front mount their motors, why not rear mount as well?

Hi Robert, several years ago when I first received the Spark Dynamic it had an AXI and then Pletty 30-10 that was rear mounted and assume that the same technique could be used to mount in the Spark Evo fuse. Below are several pictures, essentially its a two piece firewall that allows the motor to be installed from the inside of the plane. The Dynamic uses a 62 mm spinner so installation from the front to a firewall would be very difficult to do.

Thanks Dave great picture. I am looking more at the Evo 1. Is it also a 62mm spinner?
