Hi Mikey, I made new ones. I make them out of 3 layers of 1/32 balsa cross-grained. Center grain vertical. I'm flying a lot of F15 trying to get better. I am running a normal mode, snap mode, spin mode and a stall turn mode. The stall turn mode is basically the normal mode with full rudder throw.
I do all the integrated rolling and KE looping stuff in normal mode. It's not a lot of rudder, maybe 20 degrees each way. I do have a lot of expo even on that setting, but it feels good to me. In stall turn the rudder goes to 100% expo in my JR 12X. You have to have a VERY good servo on the rudder. I can see the effect of one click of trim on the rudder. Right now I am using a JR 8411HV on the rudder. You don't need a ton of torque, just a very smooth, precise servo.

Hi Tony thanks for the Info. I have 3 flights on Friday with the Episode with the twin SFG on the stab. Did you experience any trim changes with the SFG's on? did notice it tamed the rudder and the stalls were better but still need work form my point. I am going to the F3A World Cup UK in 3 Weeks so will practice F15 after i come back. Looks like a great schedule. Do you have any video of your Episode flying?

Sorry, no videos. Keep trying to get some done but it doesn't happen. If you're relationship between side-thrust and rudder trim are not correct you might see some trim differences. That is assuming the fences are aligned properly. I run mine parallel to the fuse centerline. I don't like getting stability with drag.
It is important that the rudder center is correct. Do not put in rudder trim to make the model go straight in a vertical upline. Adjust side thrust to do that. Then carefully check that in straight and level flight the model is staying on heading. If it is flat turning at all adjust the rudder center.

Thanks Tony,I will check the alignment again but happy with it. Had 3 flights in a 25-30kph wind yesterday and was impressed on how well the Episode was handled it, the Stab SFG's do help take any side to side movements out.

Hi Mikey,
Yesterdays winds might not be the most suitable for trimming/checking stuff like this.
Here is an idea for you that might help to stabilise that little wing for P flying ;

I presume it's the wing fences you are referring to Brian, I have put these on and it made a difference for spins and landing speed. I can now land slower and not having to worry about tip stalling.

Hi Guys, after having some major issues trimming my Episode over the past two weeks I have finally found out what was wrong. I started to experience gitter in my rudder servo. After testing the servo separately (Hitec 8330) and finding no issues I came to the conclusion it may be the receiver and changed it out. 15 flights later and no issues it suddenly came back in mid flight but luckily I was able to land the plane with a dancing rudder. On inspection again everything seemed to be 100% in the plane....focus was now on my Spektrum DX18.
Turns out from the monitor screen on the radio the rudder channel was clearly jumping in and out of calibration. We preformed a recalibration but this was to no avail, still had an issue with calibration.
The radio has now been sent to Horizon Hobby UK today for repair or replacement. I have borrowed a radio in the mean time.

Hi Paul, Yes i was happy, there was a very stiff cross wind for the 3 days of competition. Genni ran prefectly all weekend, apart from the 6 competition flights i also had 25 practice flights thanks to the genni.

Itc, Shannah has some nice info on using the 3 Blade on his BiSide. Cheers.

My first impressions are that I do like the 3 blade combination and it
is a lot quieter over the standard two blade.
It has also made my rudder more sensitive, so I will need to dial
that down a fraction.
The Power is fantastic and I was surprised how much it slows up the
plane. The added ground clearance is a bonus, it also gives the model
a different look.
I have some trust line issues now and the model will need some more down trust.

Mikey, thanks for the info.
I have been trimming my Episode and found an anomaly I need help with.
The plane was screwing out badly dropping a left wing when doing loops with elevator only.
We tried all the trim chart stuff but could not get it sorted. I changed my prop from a Falcon 21 x14 to a Mejzlik 21 x14.
This sorted the issue almost completely I wonder why such a difference between the two?
The price I pay for this is that the Mejlik uses more mA per P15.
I had adjusted right hand thrust but do you think it's a right hand thrust v prop issue?
By the way the straight up on power did not show this up as well as looping.
Brian C / Malcolm H have you any advice for me on this please.
Regards
Colin

Colin,
carefully measure the wings to make sure they are the same inc. then the stabs , then the elevator halves. They must be perfect. make sure all throws are equal on elevators. If this does not fix the problem, then next, make sure the rudder is perfectly centered. After all these checks you cannot resolve the problem , reduce your wing inc. this will solve the problem

Hi Colin,
How have you been keeping ?
You say 'screwing out badly' .
Strange that changing prop brand (but same size) would have that much effect.
Did you change the right thrust at the same time ?? Did you make any other changes ??
What is it doing in outside loops done from the bottom up ??
Does it carry any aileron and or rudder trim ??
Check the fundamentals , as Bryan has said.
I would add to check the canopy/canniliser mounting and alignment. One guy on here had his lifting and flexing.
Also check lateral balance - hard pull and push outs from vertical dives and or a series of tight inside and outside loops.

Hi Colin,
Sorry didn't see this until this morning. As you may have seen I'm having my own issues over on the $64000 thread. Incidentally, Bryan I would love to have your input on that issue if you have a minute to look at the thread!
I would endorse everything that Bryan and Brian have said and would be very happy to have a look/fly of the model on Saturday if you would like?
