Default New Griffin by Xtreme Composite

Pics of the new Xtreme Composite Griffin. This plane was developed by Xtreme as a lower price but high quality full composite F3A airplane. The plane is painted in the mold but does not have the dull, flat finish of many painted in the mold airplanes. First flights were today and are confirm that the plane is very solid and presents very well. This is a pre production plane and weighs 8lbs 2oz without motor batteries. Power is Himax 210 F3a motor and Castle ICE 80HV controller. More pics shortly.

The Griffin is retailing for $1499 and we worked really hard with Xtreme to keep the price down. The plane is all composite, center hinged and comes with horns and pull-pull for the rudder setup as well as a radio tray and battery tray. Landing gear and wheel pants are factory painted. The plane was designed around the Hacker Q80 (Nose mount) so if you want to use a rear mounted outrunner, you will need to install a firewall. The plane also comes with wing and stab adjusters.

Wow! That looks good. Does it fly as well as the Pegasus?
I bet it would be easy to mount a Neu in there.

Nice looking plane and a great p[rice.

I see you have the Emcotec Safety Power Switch (SPS). I've been using them for a few years now. Great item. Sadly the rule that looks like it will pass will not allow them. Really short-sighted if you ask me.

Very nice! I am betting that this plane at that price point will be pretty popular here in the USA. Thank you Chris for bringing all these great products over here!!

Chris at F3A Unlimited has done it again. Went over to FARM field yesterday to get a few flight in with the Northern Va. and first off Chris offer me the Griffin for a test flight. Now I had seen it back a couple off week ago when it came to his house. The finish and workmarkship on this plane is great. The plane is set up with a Himax motor which is plenty of power for it. After checking out the radio setting it was time to FLY. Take off was a breeze piont it and power up alway we went. A trim pass and right into Imteridate sequences I went. Plane tracks great up line down line , rolls good. Plane flew great I ended up asking Chris if I could take to Munice as my back to the Prolog. Well we can guess what the answer was a ____. He did say Yes.We'll see if I have room for it. Anthony I flew JP Pegasus a cople of week ago, and I believe it does.
Thanks Chris Moon for the flights.

I'm jealous JR,..you guys get to fly all the brand new stuff,....LOL. When I learn how fly as good as everyone else in D2, I am going to buy a plane or two from Chris. I think it helps a bunch being able to fly the inventory and select the plane that feels the best before purchasing.

Rock on,..best of luck at the NATS.

What the Extreme Flight Vanquish represented in terms of absolute low price point, this plane may just do the same, but in terms of absolute quality for the dollar.

Could be a ground breaker!

Once the plane returns from the NATS I will post some inside pics and detail pics of the gear plate.

If you are in Muncie this week and want to see the plane, it is on site 4 with JR Varela

Yes, both yellow base and white base color schemes will be available. Finalizing the order details now, had to wait until inspection and flight testing was completed before deciding to place a large order.

I understand several people have had the opportunity to fly the plane on site 4 in Muncie and have all been impressed too so we will be stocking these planes as soon as possible.

Update:

Due to the strong response we have received at the NATS, the initial order was increased which will delay the first shipment slightly as they build more planes to put into the sea container for us. Looks like the shipment will leave the factory the middle of August now. The standard white base and the optional yellow base color are coming with no upcharge for the yellow base just for this first shipment. There will be an upcharge of $50 from the factory for the yellow base on future shipments (they waived the cost on the first order). Starting next week we will be taking refundable deposits for those on the waiting list.

I took a close look at the Griffin at the NATS and was very impressed with the looks and quality of construction. What an amazing plane at a very reasonable cost!

The plane we had at the Nat's was epuip. with the following.

Motor Himaxx 210
ESC Castle HV80
servo rudder 8411
aile. 9411
evl. 3421
battery Power unlimited 4500 35c
spinner Drubro
rx Battery 800ma
arming plug
prop Rasa 21.5x14
Reday to fly wieght 4970 grams per the scale on site 4 at Nat's
If one wanted to save some wieght it wouldn't be hard to do with.

I took the plane up for Chris from F3A Unlimited as a back up and I had to end up using due to ESC fire in my Prolog.
Had a couple of FAI pilot test fly it and they were happy with it, they said it flew like the Junpiter. This plane is nicely built and finish. I only had one flight on the plane before I had to fly it at Nat's. I was happy with the plane only wish we had more time on it . For the price this is a great product. Hope to contiune setting up the plane and flying it in the furture.
Thank you Crhis Moon for your support and letting me to fly your plane.

.....still on the subject on snaps, are they crisp and stops on a dime? ...spins? ... is it slow on downlines? does rudder have authority on knife edge manuevers?
