hi guys,
i am just getting into this hobby. i have never flown any R/C model before. should i get a simulator first or buy some entry level heli for practice? if your suggestion is a heli then which one is better, considering i want something to fly indoors. We dont get too many windless days in san Francisco
if your suggestion is to buy a sim first then which one is better? reflex or afp pro deluxe. Plus, should i buy a radio to use with these simulators? if so then which one is a good radio that would be good with the simulators and then later on with a heli?
thanks for any input.

I would definitely advise you to start flying R/C helicopter with a computer simulation first unless you are not care about getting hurt of losing money or being injured yourself or others.
Depending on your budget and reality of the simulation you can purchase the Real Flight simulator http://www.realflight.com/ (kind of expensive) or download a free one from FMS (http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/).
Originally, I purchased one from CSM and used my JR X347 for practice, but it was way too long ago and helped me a lot. The Real Flight Simulator looks very nice, and I went to a hobby store to try, and it looks real. It also has the option for using your own remote controller http://www.realflight.com/interface.html.
DO NOT TRY TO FLY by yourself without a fly instructor, I learned the hard way.

thanks MDTV,
i am tempted to try and fly a heli staright away but you are right, a sim would be much better start.
what do you think about reflex xtr, i have been trying to gather information about the sims and it seems that reflex xtr is getting the best reviews. the only issues i have noticed is the lack of a commander. i oont have my own radio and i dont think i want to buy a radio before i get a heli.
another question. the commander that comes with G3. is it compatible with reflex xtr or aerofly pro dulex??
thanks
