Helimax Rotofly control

I have been trying to fly the Rotofly for a while now but the control is so slugish. Sometimes I think it might be set up wrong. There is no instructions really on how to set it up. Should the paddles be horizinal when in the neutral position? I do have control but its hard to keep it under control.

Sory, new guy here. What does that mean "no incedence"? Mine are not lying flat either. That might be why its wanting to take off to the left before it even gets off the ground?

He ment the padles are flat and equal to one another. No up or down in the neutral position. I set mine up like that and with the help of a simulator I was flying. I hovered for two minuits yesterday. Throtle up quick to get rid of that nasty left pull. Thats the only way. I broke three roto heads trying to get it right. The thing flies right once you get it about five feet in the air. Cheers

I also ment to get a flight simator befor you get five feet in the air. It helps. I have the real flight G2. They have a G3 out now. It might be better??? Don't know

Actually, I have found that positioning the paddles with slight equal inclination (leading edges up) helps with stability and hovering. Don't know if this results in faster motor wear, however, so try at your own risk. Anyone else try this? Also, I think its very important to make sure the main blades are quite tight (re-tighten after crashes).

I tried setting the paddles up and it worked,my rotofly now goes up easier instead of the 5 ft to the left first!!! Burned my tail roter though installing new one now!!!

I'll have to try that. Until I get good enough, I need all the help I can get. I took Donnie7s advice of throttleing up fast and that actually helped quite a bit. It does not shoot as far to the left when you do that.
My brother received his yesterday and he said he was having a blast trying to learn the thing until he introduced it to a wall at his work. He broke the rotor head assembly and he is bummed because the hoby store he bought it from does not cary parts for it yet. Any recomendations for getting parts on-line for these choppers?

Best you can do for parts is just search the various on-line shops. Helihobby seems to be out of stock alot. Tower Hobbies is a good place, too (except last time I ordered a replacement canopy it arrived in a padded envelope totally crushed!) I think it may be a good idea to keep an extra tail motor or two on hand so you don't have to wait for one when it inevitably burns out. I'm not intrepid enough to try replacing the motor with a better quality one yet.
Also, check your tail rotor now while its working to see which direction it rotates. Then you can check the wires before soldering to determine which way to connect them. I soldered mine exactly as the original motor was connected, but they turned out to be opposite in the replacement motor. Result: rapidly spinning UFO on takeoff.

Hey guys for the head assembly,you can use the Jabo 2 helicopter part its the same thing, and also the tail moter for the jabo 2. The tail moter fit perfect w a small plastic washer to line the teeth up

Today it went out in flight and twirled down to a crash. Another broken rotohead. I hope Heli-max will give me a knew one. I sure would like to find something better.
