RC Flight Sim form Clear View
Can anyone tell me if this is a good simulator? Does anyone have it? Do you need to pay $30 for it or is that just extra? Can I trust the site? Also, will the E-flite Blade CP/Twister and ESky "Channels Six" CCPM USB Interface work with the Blade CP's controller? It's $45 so I want to know before I buy it.
Here are the websites I'm writing about:

That sounds good but I need to know if the E-flite Blade CP/Twister and ESky "Channels Six" CCPM USB Interface will work with my my Blade CP controller. I also need to know if I have to pay anything for the download or if that's just for extra planes, helicopters and scenery.

Not sure about the interface you will have to send the guy an e-mail before you pay out the cash as to clearview if you have downloaded the software you just pay the money and clearview will send you a code for unlocking the sim.
If you want more helicopters and sceneries go here http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/commun...pid=291233&ck=
there are plenty here to keep you going .

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
I use Clearview a lot. It is cheap and good.
No, it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of Reflex, but for $30 (with free lifetime upgrades no less) what do you expect
There are a lot of models (100+) for it - free
You can import and use any FMS model you want.
It is easy to tweak the params to make the heli / airplane perform exactly like you want it to.
Stefan (the author) is a great guy, and VERY helpful. I have had quite a few startup problems (almost all my fault [:@]) and he has been very patient with me, and helped me a lot.
Go get it - you won't regret it.
And no, I am not related or affiliated in any way - just a happy customer.

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
I just downloaded Clear View 4.35 demo software. Things were going good until I tried to start it. I double click the icon and Windows Dos appears. Then I see a black screen with the task bar at the bottom with Clear View on it. Then a bar appears at the top and something comes up about it being a demo. Then, everything just disappears and I'm back where I started, at my desktop. How do I fix this? Is it the video card? Help![:@]

I know that it runs on java, so you probably need to have it enabled. I would get ahold of the author. He should be able to get you going.

I got Java today but Clear View still won't do anything. I tried getting a hold of the person in change but I've gotten no answer. I found out I have a NVidia Video Card. Will that affect anything?

Make sure you have the latest drivers. My old card would not run CV, so I bought a NVIDIA. They have downloadable drivers for the cards, so go to their website and download/install the latest drivers.
Hope that works...

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
I usually reply to all support requests in an hour. Anyway, if ClearView fails to run the first time, here is what you do:
1. If you have NVidia card, set the Autoaliasing to Off in the driver settings and try again. If CV fails, go to 2.
2. For all video cards: In 99% of the cases, just downloading and installing the latest video driver will make ClearView run. Even if you have a new card, getting the last driver is very important. Some cards are being shipped with old and buggy drivers.
3. After the video driver is updated: - If CV fails after that, download and run the OpenAL sound driver from here:
http://www.rcflightsim.com/download.html
After you get CV to work, you have to set the your controler. Here is some info what controller to use and how to set:
http://www.rcflightsim.com/controllers.html
Thanks,
Stefan

When I tried to get the driver, it said that it was unverified by Microsoft (or something like that). Does that mean anything or can I just continue and get the driver? I don't know how to set things on my NVidia Ge Force 4 card. How do I turn off the Autoaliasing?

That is normal, just means Bill & the boys haven't blessed it. Just continue on and install it.
To turn off autoaliasing, right click on the desktop, you should get a pop-up menu with one of the choices NVIDIA:
Click this option. It should bring up a whole series of menus for your card, it should be in there... somewhere

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
The speed should not change for the demo or purchased version.
What do you mean "Choppy"? Was the screen not refreshing fast enough (makes it look like a strobe effect)?
What kind of computer system do you have?
You can also try this...
Go back into the properties for your monitor.
In windows XP:
- right click on the desktop, you should get a pop-up menu with one of the choices as Properties
- go to the Settings Tab
- click on Advanced button
- change the refresh rate as high as it will go (usually about 75 Hz)
- this should remove some of the flicker.
If this doesn't work, let me know...

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
I have Windows XP and everything else that goes beyond the minimums of what Clear View needs. I did what you said TerryE but it still looks more like a fast moving picture slide show in demo mode than it does a helicopter flying. Is this normal? I'll try restarting my computer. Again, do I have to activate it before I see the good stuff? Let me now before I buy anything.

Glad to hear everything worked out
To get a blade, if they are available, go to Kens website (the link is under "models" on the clearview site. When you do, you can download any (or all) of the models he has for free. When you have downloaded them, unzip them into a seperate (temp) directory. Move all of the resulting files into a directory under the Clearview models subdirectory.
You then have to restart Clearview to get it to recognize the model(s).
Same goes for additional scenery.
Good Luck, let me know if you are sucessful .

To answer the above would take a page in itself. Here is the summary. Contact the help people at RCFlightsim for detailed directions: [email protected]
A directory is like a file folder, it helps you organize the information stored in your computer.
Good Luck.

RE: RC Flight Sim form Clear View
I e-mailed [email protected] a little while ago. I tried opening the zipped folder by double-clicking it, but a pop-up comes up that says:
"The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted."
Is there anything special I need to do or is this something that always happens and the guys at RC Flight Sim will tell me how to fix it?

There must be a problem with the file you downloaded, try it again.
Windows XP has built-in support for zip files, you should not need any programs.
Also, if you go to the winzip website (www.wizip.com) you can download a 30 day trial version for free.
... you really shouldn't need it, though
