Default Second Heli

Okay, so I can fly my Blade CX with my eyes closed now and know the basics of controlling a heli. I can piroute and other very basic aerobatic manuevers (like figure eights, just very basic things). What should I get for a second heli? Should I got for a fixed pitch or collective pitch? I probably cant go over $200, also. I was thinking either a Blade CP or a Sabre. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

it's all up to you. One of the major factors is going to be your price, and where you want to fly it. If you want to fly indoors only you could go with an FP, especially if you like to take things slow. If you want something you can move into and grow with a bit in that price range the BCPP is a nice option because it's only about $20 more than the CP and inclides something like $91 of upgrades, plus a seperate receiver and 3 in 1 which allows for more upgrades in the future.

Also I would make sure to go with a heli that your LHS stocks parts for. There's nothing worse than crashing your heli, and having to sit around and wait 2 or 3 days to a week on parts while you stew about how you screwed up your chopper =P You need to just get back on it and get it in the air.

Those are my thoughts =) Just whatever you think is what I would go with

Well I guess I should get a heli I can grow into. How about the axe cp or the venom nught ranger cp?

Hi Guys,
Sorry to butt in like this and change the subject but could someone give me some advice please.
I have never tried flying a rc copter but they have always facinated me and I would love to do it.
I just feel afraid to buy one and give it a go to only smash it and be left with a bad impression.

So, are they hard to fly?????? is it something you can just inch closer to learning because it hovers
and is it better to get a model like an ALIGN RTF T-REX that maybe performs
well and helps in my learning? or just get something cheaper like a walkera model?
I appreciate anyones help

I don't know if you should go with a T-rex unless you have built some kits before, because I think it is a kit. I would recommend a Blade CX2 or maybe be adventurous and try a CP. I started out with a CX and loved it, and I think they are easier to fly (excluding aerobatics).

C.U. L8R and wizarts, perhaps something to look into. Check out www.discountrchelicopter for the Black Hawk 450 or Falcon 3D. Both models are Ready To Fly to help you get past the first stage (assembly). Feel free to check out the Black Hawk 500 thread for more information regarding all Black Hawk series.

No, helicopters are not easy to fly. That is what makes them more rewarding than any other RC out there. Are you up to the challenge?

I don't know much about the venom night ranger. One of the things I am a big advocate of is getting a heli that your LHS wil have parts for. This is just because sometimes you want to get your heli right back in the air, and you don't want to wait a week or so for parts to be shipped. Plus you can get all sorts of tips at the LHS, or find people that have the same interests as you.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5638183
is a write up I did on the differences between the axe cp and the blade cp, read that and let me know what you think.

The FP choppers out right now really aren't very good quality, but if you are set on getting one of those, I prefer the falcon 40.

Let me know if you have any more q's

No prob, and welcome to the group. If you haven't had rc flight experience before, I probably wouldn't recommend a Trex unless you have someone there to help you set it up. It would just be a really steep learning curve that would probably get you frustrated. It can be done, and people have done it, but if you're not natural at it or don't have someone to help you set it up, it will probably be too frustrating, especially at the beginning.

If I was you I would look into the CX2 (go with that over the CX because of the DSM, you can read up on that), also look into the 4ch FP like the falcon 40 or the honeybee. I would recommend staying as far away from walkera's as possible.... they don't have very good QC and the parts end up failing quite a bit. If you want to find out for yourself go visit the walkera forum =P. On the more advanced side you could get a prebuilt Trex, a blade cp or pro, an axe cp or a honeybee cp2. I would only recommend those if you are planning to get a nice sim to go with it, and practice the heck out of the sim before you lift off.

There is also a flight school for heli's that if you follow, you probably wont have much (if any) money spent in replacements for broken parts. That is available here
http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html

One other big thing to consider is where are you going to fly, indoors or outdoors. Is it something you want to pick up fast, and level off... or pick up fast and progress through several heli's... get a more advanced machine and put alot more learning time and effort into it for a bigger pay off? ect ect. The cx2 would not be a good idea if you want to fly outdoors with winds above 3 to 5 mph.

Hopefully that answers a few q's, feel free to ask any others you might have.

I ordered a spare set of blades and tail rotor. They stock all of this and it's 1-2 day delivery.I was watching a video on utube and the guy was flying a micro heli.it was really great he was flying it backward and everything.I really wanted one but i do not know what kind it was the video was titled micron FP but I could not find one.this is why I ordered the venom.I can't wait.I have access to the gym at the local high school. My buddy flies the big gas jobs.I told him about the venom and he said that he was going to look into one.we are thinking of starting an indoor club.

congrats, that would be cool =)

If those have the same setup as the falcon 40 watch the bearings in the head, they are easy to loose.

Good luck and have fun!
