Default High thrust 70mm EDF HELP !

I'm curently working on a EDF V-TOL Aircraft & need to Know How to Acheive maximum thrust on 70mm Unit. Is it the # of fan blades, Motor with high KV or low. I'm looking to reach Around 5-6lbs of thrust for boath Edf units. Have no Clue where to start & need a Decent power plant. Can anyone help.

Look at the HET line of fans and motors, they seem to produce a bit more than the E Flite 70mm fans and motors..High End Technology. its been a while but maybe out of Arizona???

Wemotec Minifan PRO and ARC2858 motor on 6 cells will produce a sustained 2.5kg thrust which is in your power range requirement, the amp draw is manageable too at 85-90 amps with a full 54mm exhaust nozzle,as you are looking at VTOL you wont need to constrict the exhaust down much which will lower your amp draw to around 80A. Minifan comes with clip on intake lip so you are pretty much covered for 100% efficiency in the setup.

The wemotec rotor is pretty much the most efficient 70mm out there, the fans are lightweight and very reaonably priced, with ARC motors and heatsinks you will have an affordable lightweight setup.

Could never understand why everyone goes for CC speedies when there are other products out there as good if not better, with less failure reports to boot. The HW Platinum PRO 100A 2-6sESC is one of the best on the market, compact, super tough, has a voltage adjustable switchmode BEC built in, huge array of programming features, and a better reliability rep than CC does, plus its generally cheaper to buy too. I run it over 100A constant in a 90mm 6 cell jet, running ARC3665-1 which pulls 100-110A on 6 cells, the speedie heatsink is in my intake duct and barely gets warm.

You may have trouble finding 2858 motors right now, I have4-6 left in stock from memory, most dealers have been out for months.

One other consideration you don't hear much about these days is altitude.  A lot of the ratings of fan/motor/esc combos are based on sea level or near sea level altitudes.  I'm high enough (4500 ft) that I have to reduce the power ratings by at least 10% to account for the thinner air.

Yes true, I seem to recallthe guys who have posted up test results over on rcgroups at altitude usually show a drop in amps and thrust, you can go hotter with your setup without getting into too much trouble, just remember your watt meter is your friend, test everything on the bench first to make sure of your baseline.
